      They were not underrated, they pioneered the twin-lead guitar sound and were massive. They were renowned for their live performances and there were some issues when they supported Queen on the “Queen Lizzy” your to mark the Silver Jubilee, because after they’d come on and blown the audiences’ socks off, Queen were struggling to follow them.

    Before anyone gets too confused by this please note this is a "mimed" tv version of this song. That is Gary Moore miming the guitar but he did not record the guitar track. It was Eric Bell. And yes this is the short single version without guitar solo. Also this song was released in 1973 so this could not have been filmed in 1971 as described in the description. Most likely Eric Bell had left the band and they had to film this for TV and Gary Moore filled in as the "guitar player". Must be hard for him to mime someone else's playing but he obviously took one for the team. Both Eric and Gary were amazing guitarists but had very different styles.

    • @djhoneylove5710
      @djhoneylove5710 4 месяца назад +2

      Gary used all the best parts of that guitar that were left after Peter Green was finished with it. It is another example of an object being given powers it doesn't possess. Gary's sound would not have been different if he used another Les Paul. It is all in his fingers. Plus he's not playing anything on this song. But he looks super cool.

    • @markgarner2725
      @markgarner2725 2 месяца назад +1

      @djhoneylove5710 Actually, that Les Paul had a secret trick, the neck pickup had been removed by Peter Green then reinstalled backwards putting the magnets out of phase when the selector switch was in the middle position.
      You can hear that tone in FMac's version of 'Black Magic Woman' and during parts of Thin Lizzy's 'Black Rose' and the BBC performance of 'Still In Love With You' from around 1974.
      I did the same thing to one of my Les Pauls but switched it back a few years later.

    • @danscott3880

    • @richardbullwood5941

      @danscott3880 that's why it's called The Greenie Moore Les paul, and Greenie comes before Moore. But see, Peter Green isn't in this video. Which is why I didn't mention anything about his ownership other than the name of the guitar. See how that works?

  • @FallNorth
    @FallNorth 3 года назад +10

    It was Eric Bell on the actual recording as this is very early Thin Lizzy (99.999% sure Gary is miming to on this) but it's amazing to see how slim young and SEVENTIES Gary Moore is in this, I didn't expect to see that.
