What a fucking legend. One of the best frontmen ever.
Legend for sure...coolest guy in rock'n' roll...ROCKER
He was not a Rock Star,,,,,,,,,He was A ROCKER!!!!!!!!!
He was THE ROCKER.
He's a roller too, baby .
One of the best and most unique intro guitar riffs of all time.
It's a great riff, but far from unique. It's essentially a Chuck Berry style boogie woogie riff with a lot of extra crunch and some well placed muting.
Thin Lizzy was absolutely filthy!!!!! One of the most underrated bands ever!!!!
Before anyone gets too confused by this please note this is a "mimed" tv version of this song. That is Gary Moore miming the guitar but he did not record the guitar track. It was Eric Bell. And yes this is the short single version without guitar solo. Also this song was released in 1973 so this could not have been filmed in 1971 as described in the description. Most likely Eric Bell had left the band and they had to film this for TV and Gary Moore filled in as the "guitar player". Must be hard for him to mime someone else's playing but he obviously took one for the team. Both Eric and Gary were amazing guitarists but had very different styles.
And what a solo it was.
This is one of the worst lip-synched performances that I have ever seen. Great song though.
Amazing song-just the way Philip voices the narrative -He WAS THE ROCKER! please look on You tube for a 16 yr old playing all 3 instruments -Lucas SQUINCA.Hes a musical genius so check him out, give him some support and keep Lizzy alive.Thankyou,Rockers ❤️
yo I really appreciate that info. Thank you! I'm currently on hour 6 of a Thin Lizzy deep dive and have been learning so much.
Seriously????
How this track didn't become a worldwide smash hit when it first came out, doesn't make any sense
Amazing Gary Moore!!!
Saw him live once - came on at a Paul Rodgers solo show @ the Royal Albert Hall..encore time. He was so good it was insane. Best guitarist I've ever seen.
Здорово 👍 две гитары четыре барабана хэт и один райд а как делают сильнейшие рокеры суперская группа рок 🎸 навсегда здорово 👍
every friday finish work pop a beer and this song! its gold
Love those early seventies shoes with the big chunky heels.
Phillo Gary and Brian what a line up , great track.
This is the SHORT version, the real long version as a close to 3 minute guitar solo in it. The solo alone is longer than this version.
Yeah u got Gary Moore on guitar ur gonna have a solo and its gonna SCREAM!!!!
@@bucksatan672 except it wasn't Mr Moore playing, he was miming in the clip. The actual guitar track was done by Eric Bell.
@@pathdaly Eric was no slouch.
@@bucksatan672 Wow, how clueless & uninformed are you about Thin Lizzy? 🤯
Thin Lizzy 💥🤘❤
What would Phil say?????..I'M A ROCKER!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Coolest guys on the planet! 🔥
Much underrated classic!.
.👍🏿
Cracking song, my favourite of theirs, sweet rock n roll
Phil Lynnot with a Jazz Bass is like Jimi Hendrix with a Rickenbacker
Phil playing fingerstyle is also like Geddy Lee playing with a pick.
@@MichaelD8393 totally
@@pablofichaje Or like Brian Setzer playing a Les Paul!
Still got the very rare single on Decca bought back in 73 with my paper round money, wouldn't sell it for any money.
This is just everything.
Pure brilliance , funky and driving classic rock - love it ! Picked it by accident in a second hand store when I was 19 ..Even other TL didn;t know the album
Now that's a power trio!!
Muito fóda!🤜🏻🤛🏻🇧🇷
Best song they ever did! IMHO
The essence of True Rock N Roll...
THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL :))))) 👍👍😍😍😍😍😍😍💖💖💖💖💋💋💋💋🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
They sure don't make em like that anymore.
True!
Nope ....this is what should be played on the radio....this and yellow pearl.
Yes they do; you just have to get off yer duff and find them.
AWESOME!
Man ! this is forever great !
classic rock, yeaahh!!!!
Not the full version but still badass, Phil Lynott rules ❤️👍🤟🏾
Fabulous! But this is the SHORT version
It was Eric Bell on the actual recording as this is very early Thin Lizzy (99.999% sure Gary is miming to on this) but it's amazing to see how slim young and SEVENTIES Gary Moore is in this, I didn't expect to see that.
Red knee length suede or leather boots and a shirt that looks made out of material my Grandmother would have happily used for her kitchen curtains :)
I'll bump your 99.999% to 100%
Gary was a legend, Phil's "soul brother", and this video SCREAMS Rock n Roll, but promo and air guitar are just part of the fugly music business.
All 3 of them are miming, and of course is Eric Bell on the original recording. Anyway really great to see them and a rare find for me, there is not much footage of this very brief incarnation of Lizzy.
This says it all. ROCK AND ROLL HONEY!
Top of the galaxy rock
So cool! Never saw Phil actually finger pick!
In reply to kn.....this is indeed one of the greatest rock riffs of all time. No mucking about with this one!
We are the Mods!
Gary Moore selling this one like his life depended on it! What an amazing trio this was. Too bad they couldn't keep it together for more than they did.
Eric Bell played on this, Gary was just in the video.
Gary still gave his soul for the video though !! RESPECT
such a small drum kit looks so unusual after watching other thin lizzy videos...
Badass !!!
ooooh yeah.
AM A ROCKER.......A ROLLER TOO BABY ......AM A ROCKER ............ROCK N ROLL !!!
"long version" is 2 minutes and 40 seconds. I love it
Brilliant !
i saw this line up at the round house dagenham about 73 ish
Ótimo som!
Love it
🤝
I like the added cowbell in the single version of this song
Brian Downey was to Thin Lizzy what Mitch Mitchell was to Jimi. There is even a touch of the Mitch in the verses.
Saw the Eric Bell blues band do this at Merry Hill, it was fantastic Eric was so underrated. I don't think this is the long version.
We were so skinny back then, to many beers & big Mack’s
O melhor !
What a cool video
This is the short version, long version is 5:15
It would have been the long version, had it included the amazing solo from Eric Bell. Check out the full version on the Vagabonds of the Western World album which is 5 minutes 15 seconds long.
I know it's not very PC these days but has anyone else noticed Phil's interesting lapel badge at 2:18 ? maybe it was a bit of reverse physcology on Phil's part to all the haters at the time, Slick Phil- very slick.
Well spotted! God bless you, Robertsons!
What is it? I can't see it clearly.
Unreal.
They were the best 3 peirce onsumble since Jimi Hendrix Experience and ZZ Top@
This is NOT the long version. making a single out of this song is a sin, it has one of the best guitar solos ever recorded
Gary!
🔥
It's my song. 👍
Rock till ya drop🤘then get on the motorbike🙂
IS THAT GARY ......WOW RESPECT r.i.p.
... the young Gary Moore ... !!
Got my cycle outside wanna try , ........................... ?!
"Hey babe, meet me I'm a tough guy. Got my 'cycle outside - you wanna try?" She just looked at me & rolled dem my big eyes "Ooo, I'd do anything for you cos you're a rocker!"
A young Gary Moore! Friggin incredible!! He was Phil's musical soul-mate!!!
He was miming. It was played by Eric Bell.
Needs more cowbell..
It's nothing more than the short single version with Eric Bell - Dutch television probably didn't dare to offer a long live version with Gary Moore.
Гари Мур шпилит просто огонь )
Sonzeira 🇮🇪
This is "NOT" the long version ! The long version has the lengthy killer lead guitar solo !
This is not the long version. The long version is over 5 minutes with an awesome guitar solo from Eric Bell.
Alguém do Brasil?
SOULJAH ROCKERZ
Rush movie
How long was the short version? Any shorter and there would be no song.
Daniel Pena it's long version because this shoose
yeah the LP version is much longer
This isn't the long version, there is a two minute Eric Bell guitar solo on the long version
I need new shoes
Phase effect due a comeback
Gary Moore?
Yes, but Eric Bell on the recording.
Very young one! He looks awesome here. A reel blueser, mean bizness
Did Gary Moore play on that. I thought it was Eric bell
Short version..
❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I'd hv killed 2 SEE lynott OUCH, d lizzy Will A LWAYs do it 4 me, 2 See dem Reform.. Let rocknroll wake 2 Thuatha De Dannon Poets ROCk IT fcking A🎉 , Beautiful
This edit is arguably the best version of the song.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the audio track is from their Vegabonds album featuring all guitar work from Eric Bell. So I assume Gary Moore substituted for him after his departure is only mimicking for this particular video.
this is the short version
this is eric bells song not gary moores
True rock and roll.
lo imitaba bastante a hendrix style...hendrix voice style
- r o c k - & roll
No, this is the short version.
This sadly reminds me of many German TV broadcasts in the 1970ies. I never was very amused seeing a band obviously mimicking and lip sync'ing to music from tape. Anyhow, great band, great song!
I am your main man if you're looking for trouble
I'll take no lip 'cause no ones tougher than me
If I kicked your face you'd soon be seeing double
Hey little girl, keep your hands off me 'cause I'm a rocker
I love to rock and roll
I get my records from the Rock On stall
Sweet rock and roll
Teddy boy, he's got them all
Down at the juke joint me and the boys were stompin'
Bippin' an a boppin', telling a dirty joke or two
In walked this chick and I knew she was up to something
I kissed her right there out of the blue
I said "Hey baby, meet me I'm a tough guy"
Got my cycle outside, you wanna try?
She just looked at me and rolled them big eyes
And said "Ooh I'd do anything for you 'cause you're a rocker"
That's right I'm a rocker
I love to rock and roll
I get my records from the Rock On stall
Sweet rock and roll
Teddy boy, he's got them all
Gary Moore on Guitar!
UH, the caption says long version and they cut out the entire guitar solo..... Lame
thats gary moore right ?
Don't make em like this anymore
