Lil Mac, the best drill instructor and logistics officer you could hope for, the WORST field and strategic commander you could be forced to suffer under.
It is true that some recruits on both sides were in their sixties. They knew what was going on. It was right in their backyard, and would not let it get in their way!
Then, songs like The Irish Volunteer, We’ll Fight for Uncle Sam, The Irish Sixty-Ninth, and The President’s Ball, must have been written during that year.
This Song was actually the First Song from that Timeperiod that i listened to. Seeing it so Greatly Animated, i feel very Happy. This Motivates me so much every Morning. Like i litteraly wake up, put this on and am fully Ready for the Day before the Song is over.
McClellan IS a cat. Lazy, overly cautious, and an ineffective fighter. Had the rebel army dead to Rights once, and refused to finish them. So the President did what needed doin.
@@jameskarg3240 There’s this cat named Meowseph Stalin who looks like Stalin, and every time I look at that cat or any tuxedo cat in general. All I see is just George as a cat
He nearly had Lee in Maryland, but we all know how that turned out. Didn't give his corps commanders orders at the same time which left many not being able to hit at the best times. I will say he was better than Burnside though.
You can talk crap about McClellan all you want but it was the army of the Potomac that he reformed, trained and gave back its pride after its early war losses that won he was loved by many a man in the army of the Potomac he just wasn't a good field commander but was an excellent garrison officer
I've been watching your stuff for over 5 years, I reckon. Its all great. Your videos always fuelled my nights awake. Got me through hard times and such. So thanks for that. But may I make a request? In the latter half of the video that includes "Liver Let Die" by the Poxy Boggards, the song "England's Gold" plays. I adored that song since the first time I heard it. Do you think it would be possible, LordDrakoArakis, to make a video that solely includes England's Gold? I can find no other video anywhere on RUclips with that song but your Liver Let Die video. I love your stuff mate, keep up the good work.
You know what? I'd love to see an anime roughly based on this song. Follow the story of an Irish immigrant who then gets into the Civil War. It would be a bit of a tragedy as he would lose maybe 90% of his friends in the fighting (Irish casualties were horrifyingly high), but it would still be cool.
Ok....I'm Scottish and I want Scottish independence and like this song. I just feel as a military historian I should point out a little oddity. So his father was killed at Vinegar hill ,which was fought in 1798. Your starting to see the oddity right? Even presuming his dad impregnated his mother on the day before the battle he would still be into his 60s at the START of the American civil war! Not impossible of course, but most that were of that age were high ranking officers or if not then senior NCOs recalled to the colours mainly to train, or militia to stay in forts of minor important. Just saying the notion of him yelling "clear the way" and charging uphill (given the health of even many young folk then) is unlikely! Not impossible though, just an odd fact I thought I'd point out. Great song and video to though.
I see your point. This part of the song would have made more sense if it were the narrator's GRANDPA who died on Vinegar Hill in 1798, instead of his father.

There are two "n"s in "Bonnie." Both "The Bonnie Blue Flag" (Confederate) and "The Irish Volunteer" (Union) are sung to the tune of an old Irish folksong entitled "The Irish Jaunting Car." The former was written by Harry McCarthy, an Irish-American comedian who lived in Arkansas, a Southern Confederate state. I don't know who wrote the latter, though. The fact that both sides of the war had songs that parodied old Irish tunes was probably because Irish immigrants and/or American-born men of Irish ancestry fought on both sides. I think it was the same way during the Revolutionary War as well.

The Lord should take all his civil war themed works and create some anime-American Civil War-musical.
It is true that some recruits on both sides were in their sixties. They knew what was going on. It was right in their backyard, and would not let it get in their way!
Its ironic as McClellan was considered absolutely incompetent as a general and he was removed from command after only a year in the field
Then, songs like The Irish Volunteer, We’ll Fight for Uncle Sam, The Irish Sixty-Ninth, and The President’s Ball, must have been written during that year.
He was a brilliant logistics officer and administrator, but was utterly incompetent as a tactician
Indeed
Thank you Irish Volunteers

I noticed some of his friends, mainly Naruto, ended up on the opposite side of the battle field. Sad but true of the Civil War.
