    As someone who has been running cross country and long distance track since I was 5 and is an avid stamina player on bs I feel like I can comment on the tips for stamina
    #1.Static Streching has been shown to have negative affects and makes you more prone to injury
    #2.Foam rolling is REALLY GOOD and I completely agree with that tip but you should explain more on how to do it
    #3.Taking baths instead of showers is also a very good way of dealing with injuries.
    #4.The tips given to enhance endurance are actually negative, your body will respond better to being in good conditions if you practice in harsh conditions.
    #5.A great way to improve stamina is long vibro maps(the deepest ocean/vibronisty) and a great way to train endurance are long stream maps or long double maps(wahaha and kokoro)
    #6.The grips from amazon for controllers that manually hold your hand onto the controller work really well for improving grip slip.

    • @Flash244MCGaming

      Static stretching can make you prone to injury pre-workout is what I’ve always heard. I used to run cross country too and that’s what we always did

    • @ssnowy4059
      @ssnowy4059 4 года назад +16

      1. That's not the conclusion I came to from the research I did. From the research I conducted, dynamic stretching BEFORE a workout can increase sports performance in a number of different scenarios. Meanwhile, static stretching (technically at any time) can result in an increased range of motion and reduced muscle stiffness. It seems as though there is scholarly evidence to suggest that static stretching before exercise can have negative effects on sports performance. However, in the video, we don't advocate for static stretching pre-workout, so I'm not going to go over it. However, there seems to be evidence to suggest that static stretching in general increases flexibility and reduces muscle stiffness. If stretching results in an increase in flexibility and reduction of muscle stiffness, then I don't see why static stretching after a workout would result in negative performance. In fact I found a study which suggests that chronic stretching (I don't think they specify when exactly the stretching occurs) increases performance of certain motions over long periods of time.
      Dynamic Stretching:
      eprints.lib.hokudai.ac.jp/dspace/handle/2115/17085
      www.touchontheball.com/downloads/Dynamic%20vs%20Static%20Stretching%20Article%201.pdf
      Static stretching:

      2. I don't explain foam rolling more because I don't have much experience using foam rollers. I also don't explain it very much because physical sports science is a very large topic. I already had to conduct a decent amount of research just to come to the conclusions that I did (and obviously there is still contention). I figure that if I can introduce the topic to people, it's another technique to try for people who are maybe having issues and they can look more into the topic themselves.
      3. Interesting tip!
      4. My tips for enhancing endurance and stamina are very broad. I don't necessarily see how its "negative" to say that practicing an action for longer can help you perform that action for a longer time. Similarly, practicing performing an action at maximum capacity will help you perform that action at maximum capacity. I'm essentially just saying practice makes perfect. I do think that I see your point, however, because I say/infer that stamina and endurance are mutually exclusive, which they obviously aren't. If you are exercising in a harsh environment (like an intense stream map), you will improve your overall physical ability. But I don't think that contradicts my previous statements with "practice makes perfect" etc.
      5. I would disagree that vibro maps are a good way to train stamina, because there is very little movement required for vibro maps. Unless you are forcing yourself to full swing, then someone could just cheese the whole map by wiggling their wrists in between bad-cut hitboxes. If you ARE forcing yourself to full swing, what's the benefit of full swinging a vibro map over full swinging a complex stream map? If anything a complex stream map will force you to move your arms more, leading to quicker exhaustion/more physical exertion. Vibros are typically linear, so there isn't much movement involved, aside from up/down. I would say that it's more beneficial to play maps which are typically seen as stamina maps (like break or twisted drop party), because of the sheer amount of motion and physical exertion that they require.
      6. This is probably a good tip for many people. I used the Mamut VR grips for Oculus Rift and I just found them clunky and heavy. I don't like to endorse products that I don't find beneficial, so I didn't mention them in the video. In hindsight I should've mentioned them because my experience isn't the only one that matters. My bad on that one.

    • @spizaowo
      @spizaowo 4 года назад +1

      For those who don't enjoy vibros, long intense stream maps are a good way to improve stamina too since they are constant exertion provided the player is fullswinging. Maps like "Of Petrichor Weaves Black Noise" and "Pyrrhic" are good examples, though most stamina extensive maps aren't necessarily beginner or even intermediate-friendly.

      You certainly need to static stretch, but after workout of course, otherwise you would be more prone to injury due to tight/shortened muscles. All of what Snowy said is completely accurate.

      I define "playing with arm" to be movement of the elbow + shoulder, but not wrist.
      I define "playing with wrist" to be movement of the wrist, but not elbow + shoulder.
      It's really really hard to get an example of pure wrist movement/pure arm movement. In the arm clip, I tried my best to keep my wrists still, but the main rotation is happening in my elbows/shoulders.

    • @ssnowy4059
      @ssnowy4059 4 года назад

      @@escapee1376 I was moving my upper arm in the arm clip. Although I definitely could've been more expressive about it. My bad, I meant it to be more clear that my entire arm was moving.

    • @bidousam
      @bidousam 4 года назад

      The amount of arm movement varies with the intensity of the song. Doing drumroll at that speed would make it way too tiring to really use your whole arm, as they said in the video. I guess the example isn't that great to demonstrate what they meant, but the point of the video is to improve stamina so showing too wide of a swing would just encourage people to do too much

    Watch out for using VR-Cover. The sweat can't go out of the headset as easily as on the Standart headset-cover. This can increase heat in your headset and there will probably built up more sweat inside the headset, because it can't "breathe" through the VR-Cover. Because of these two things, the headset could break.
    I can only recommend using VR-Cover only, if your friends try VR, because they probably won't have as long playsessions as you have. I can't recommend using VR-Cover for long sweaty playsessions.

    The biggest and most important change I made was picking a different grip.
    I had been trying to beat GHOST on Expert difficulty and ended up needing to grip the controllers tightly because my hands got really sweaty, resulting in my wrists hurting. I stopped playing until my hands stopped hurting for a while and picked a grip where my hand can be relatively loose and I can still do big movements without accidentally chucking a controller across the room.

      If I pause the game in the middle of a section, I find myself very likely to end up missing tons of notes after on high speed maps which will lead to instant fail. So I only pause when tracking decides to give up.

      @ssnowy4059 4 года назад

      Palm grip is a very effective grip, as far as I know, CoolingCloset uses Palm and he's consistently been one of the top players since the game released. That being said, why not just stick with Palm? If it is comfortable for you (your hand doesn't cramp), then that seems like an excellent grip choice. If you want to swap grips though, you could try doing research on hand stretches for increased range of motion. I don't know much about why hands cramp (not a sports science guy) but I'm sure there's a bunch of research out there on the topic.

      I would also encourage anyone having issues to conduct their own research. I tried to cover as many bases as possible, but physical sports science is a broad topic, so the information here is not comprehensive.

    Lowering your height can be useful, but you have to duck lower under walls

      True. Just don't make it too low

      Hahaha yeah that's probably true. Most ranked maps/popular maps don't include duck walls so I didn't think about that. Good note!

      Lol same....I've gotten 2 injuries from Beat Saber:
      1. I hit one of my fingers when hitting a blue note on the left of a fast map incredibly hard, causing internal bleeding, intense pain for a week, and causing the nail to fall off after about 2 months, which is just now almost fully grown back after around 4-5 months
      2. Injured my upper back/lower neck when playing a difficult song (at the time). Took about 2 weeks to heal enough that I could play again, and about a full month before fully healing.
      That being said...I haven't hurt myself since then unless we're counting shoulders and heart attacks lel

    Lets not discuss my injury track record. 5 hours of VV and anomaly intensity straight for a few days would uh.. not be advised when you mostly arm hahaha... ah. ha ah... ha.....

      If you go to the Cube Community discord in the description of this video, there is a text channel in that discord called "tips-and-grips". There are TONS of grips posted there and pinned in that channel. That would be a great place to look.
