Caroline, I saw in a more recent video that you said you didn't like this makeover specifically which you had done, and while it may not be what you would do now as the Caroline you are today, considering you were working with a limited budget and even trying out some new handyman new skills at the time, WOW you gave it a modern look and made a drastic difference! That before and after is amazing. You aren't giving yourself enough credit 💖

hahahaha and oh man these prices NEVER cease to amaze me. ESPECIALLY after I try and recreate something myself and see what the materials actually cost. I know there's a lot more 'cost' that goes into it from a retail point of view, but my god it certainly doesnt make the item more valuable to me. 100% with you on that🙌

Two years too late for comment, but I will any way . . . AMAZING! you took a dumpy, little, dark room and made it look like a peaceful retreat. I am very impressed and inspired (except that I will not be getting out power tools myself). You win the award for vision, execution, industriousness and (of course), humor.

Wow, just wow. The colors coordinate perfectly, cool and warm mixed just right. That came headboard did wonders for the bed, and those drapes! And you hung them correctly, it’s a pet peeve of mine personally when they’re hung low and narrow. Bravo!

hello Caroline. I am new to your channel, but I am not new to the design channels. I've been watching a lot of them, and honestly this is the most refreshing and helpful one that I have found so far. Thank you so much for what you do and how you do it. You have a way of connecting with your audience that I haven't seen in other channels. I think your experience in the acting industry has a lot to do with it i.e. you seem very comfortable having "a conversation with an inanimate object" (quoting from one of your own videos:D ), and connecting with us invisible people. You're effortlessly engaging and natural. It's literally the first time that I look forward to watching someone's lifestyle vlog (like "what I do in a day," etc), and after that I don't feel like "that's 20 minutes of my life I won't get back!!)

I really enjoyed that. Your woodworking skills are so impressive and I love watching how you make these things. Could be fun to show a breakdown of the DIY costs but also not essential. I know you mentioned a few of the pieces already. Anyways, the cube looks great. Where did the bats end up? You should get nice hooks for them 😅

You did a nice job. I liked the console table and the way you styled it. The only thing I would change is to make the headboard a little shorter so it is even with the bed.
I know this is old because you live in DC now, but you did a great job. And I can see how you've grown in your skills since then. My biggest comment was that you should anchor that little table to the wall and it probably needs a bit more support where the legs meet the top. (I could imagine it starting to lean or tipping over when you bump it with a hip) But it looks great and is perfect for the laundry storage underneath. Plus I love that you're like, no idea what I'm doing, but I've got this. And it turns out great!

Here's a back-saving hack you might like Caroline.
Get interior design and architect's drawing templates, trace the furniture pieces you use onto kids' craft foam, label them and cut the shapes out. When you want to rearrange all the furniture in a room, draw a 1/4" : 1' scale sketch of the room and move the shapes around instead. Et voila... back saved!
Looked much better after, and the heart and soul you put into it. Plus, you will somehow look even better two years after this video.

I appreciate your willingness to problem solve the woodworking as you go along. The finished piece seemed sturdy & looked good, and that’s what counts. I’m conflicted about the curtains, but only because I’m not a fan of them just generally (I always feel like they’ll get dusty and musty). However, they look great in the video.

Considering your limited budget and what affordable was available to you, I think it’s very nice. The only criticism I have, is that you should have wood stained the rattan webbing in a colour to match your bedside tables; instead of spray painting it. You can’t tell it’s webbing. Thumbs up !
