    just finished re-shafting my wedges with all your videos. wanted to say thanks for all the informative stuff. only thing i couldn't get right was after turning down the ferrules with sand paper and wiping softly with a napkin with acetone, i couldn't get that nice glossy look. I took some car wax and a dremel with a buffer attached to it and that did the trick. Once again, thank you for all the informative videos. It was easy!

    My son is starting to get into golf. Any suggestions on the best way to deal with needing longer clubs each year as he grows out of them? Is there easily replacement shaft options for kids?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Год назад +1

      I know some junior clubs offer a trade up program so you can exchange for longer clubs.
      You can also very simply add extensions to clubs up to an 1 or 1 1/2 inches and regrip with larger grips.

    Hi AJ, a question about the weight of the heads and shafts. As an example, 7 iron head weighs 267 g (should be 268 g)and 8 iron head weighs 273 g (should be 275 g). The 7 iron shaft weighs 107 g and the 8 iron shaft weighs 105 g (2 g less than the 7 iron shaft). Now for the tip weights. Should I use 1 g for the 7 iron and 4 g for the 8 iron (2 from the head and 2 from the shaft)? I hope you understand what I mean.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Год назад +1

      You're asking should you be focusing on the heads since your shafts are descending in weight as they get shorter? If so, I would say still focus on the heads, it takes around 9g of shaft weight change in influence 1 SWP of feel so the head will still be the bigger influencer.

      @@EFGMC I have a set of taper tip shafts that vary up to 4 grams. I thought i could compensate for this via the tip weights.

    Will swing weight go down if you put in a lighter shaft ? 105 steel to 84 graphite ?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, 9g shaft weight change will change SW by 1 point, assuming the balance of the 2 shafts were similar.

    What would be the difference in swing weight when extending half and inch? Also would u recommend adding a little bit of sand when mixing aryldite as a 3rd mixer?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Год назад +1

      1/2 inch = 3 swing weight points.
      I don't like adding anything to epoxy other than beads and I only ever use a very small amount of those. Anything else risks compromising the bond.

  • @markc3653

    Some my question involves blackout shafts
    I like the regular Project X shafts but I wanted a different look so I bought some blackout Project X shafts. Takes quite a bit of sanding to get that thick layer of paint sanded down enough to get the feral on. My question was it seems like the blackout version plays a little heavier and harsher than the non-blackout version. I was curious if it was common for the frequency or other characteristics to change on the blackout versions versus the regular version
    Thank you

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Год назад +1

      I've not heard of this before. They are supposed to be the same as the regular version. Weight and flex should be the same but I've never directly compared.

    Great video! How much and at what point during mixing the epoxy do you add shafting beads?

    • @EFGMC

      Right at the outset after pouring the epoxy. No more than 5% per volume of epoxy for bead quantity.

      @@EFGMC HI, question. I have some callaway epic max star iron heads and I believe there .370 hossel is that correct? And the shafts I have to go in them is eather a Rifle project x 6.0 or a nippon 95g that I'd like to use both .355 tapered shaft. Will that work in these heads. Or what should I do. Really can't afford to purchase new 370 shafts. Thanks

      @@EFGMC ok thanks. These original had 50g regular shafts. I'm trying to go to a stiff maybe 95g about the lightest I can find and afford. is changing the weight of shaft to that 95g- 115g going to be ok with these heads as long as there balanced or whatever the professional do to reach D3 D2 etc. Someone told me these heads were made for a specific weight shaft and balance kick point and couldn't be switched to a heaver shaft would defeat the purpose that I wasted my money.. I bought them for the heads and want to set it up for me. Stiff steel 80-115g shafts. Is this going to be ok or am I screwed and need to sell them. @@charliehooks5801 I think the heads are lighter, but that just requires adding some head weight if they feel too light. If you are really worried, I would reshaft one club first with a heavier shaft and see if you like the results.

    Aj , I have an issue with an la golf driver shaft I purchased that has a 1/2 in butt extension unknown prior and is still under my preferred length. I wanted to extend it an inch and a 1/4. What do you think the best way to remove this current undersized butt extension without damaging the shaft? Any ideas, thanks!

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Год назад

      No good options. Really can only cut it off to remove and that just makes it shorter so you are out of luck very likely. If it’s a matter of either trying something or throwing away the shaft, you could try to heat up a metal rod and heat the inside of the extension to get it loose without hopefully heating or damaging the shaft.
