Only players know what players want and this is exactly what make a game stay relevant.
Players will always optimize the fun out of a game, that's why devs are here to save us from ourselves.
@@l0rdfr3nchy7 well said but going by the first ~45mins of comments people are just gonna be falling over each other in a mad dash to see who can praise this the hardest, the amount of comments from people about to break trough by making their own COD clone is crazy 🤣
Just here to say I was the 420th like - carry on
And that's also why it's so damn hard being a developer
@@l0rdfr3nchy7(X) Doubt. It’s the developers ruining the fun, nowadays.
Fortnite’s ability to stay relevant as a top game is honestly incredible, but this concept has taken it to a completely different level. I look forward to seeing what can be done!
It’s not really super relevant anymore outside of a very young demographic. At least the base game doesn’t, Creative has broken into relevancy again

As a game developer, this is absolutely insane. It really is pretty awesome, might be one of the best User Created Content experiences right now.
I mean that is what Unreal is for. >.>
You now can compete with millions of developers instead of thousands. You do realize this saturates the market and you will be left with 40 cents on the dollar.
@@jakedubs this is Fortnite specific, but the market is saturated already with the streamlined game engines such as Unity and Unreal. This just allows people to focus more on their creativity.
red vs blue
This is the sort of functionality and potential that I expected BF2042 to achieve with Portal.
Well this is competing with Roblox because it's kinda exactly like this
If you actually expected stuff like this from DICE and Frostbite engine... I don't even know what to say.
Hopefully Halo Infinite Forge can stack up well
then you had absolutely no clue what portal as ever meant to be lmao. It was never meant to make unique experiences/entire games. at all. just games modes.
my guy expected to be making dirt bike games in a BF game mode editor.
@@DG_427 I expected tomato sauce with my Spaghetti code with Frostbite.
DICE: Damn that's a good idea. We should make some type of portal where our community can do the same with BF. Imagine how popular it would be.
🤣
Funny part is you could make battlefield in this
@@chanthology3258 nah, there's no way to introduce that many bugs in UE5 and Fortnite
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@dumbodum Daaaaaaamn 🤣
All three demos were great, but man that last one was just an overall amazing experience.
6 months later, no it wasn't.
Exactly lol, creators dont care about all of these technologies when they can make the same money with less effort, like making tycoon games. Nobody nowadays uses these the way epic showed in the 3 featured maps
Now you don't just build things in the game, you can build the game itself. Talk about taking a theme to its conceptual limit. Awesome stuff.
Comment gave me the chills
you know, i have to give it to epic games. they are very creative. battle pass, live events, creative mode, and now this
@@willmcclard206 minecraft has creative mode >:(
... this is not a new concept
Literally what Bungie did for Halo 3 and Halo Reach for console. This is something most players want. A playground for them to make their own games. Yet, with this level of detail, this is truly remarkable. Definitely game changing if it's what I'm looking at.
This isn't unusual for Epic, though. I'm an older gamer and remember Unreal Tournament 2004 releasing with the dev tools on the disc. People were creating full conversion mods for that game. A lot of them were really fun. Some even released as standalone titles later on.
I remember dragging my rig and monitor over to my friends apartment with a few other friends and just playing UT2004 mods all weekend. Epic understands that supporting the mod community can keep their game relevant for years because they've done it before.
well said
Best times of my life as a kid were pushing that game to its limits
Hopefully someone makes UT for fortnight
@@abramjessiah I don't imagine it will take long, honestly.
Oh the good ol days ... Awesome to see the return of modding in a fancy new light as well.
Wow. I'm seriously impressed. Have never been a fan of Fortnite and it's community but this is really interesting. Hope this matures the community and enables people to be creative and build their own concepts that get to last
Same. I am intrigued
and that thing plus the Injector that permit to transform UE5 game into full 6DoF VR compatible, we have the oasis of ready player one
crazy how AAA devs are usually so reluctant to allow any sort of user-generated content or mods, when time has proven, with so many endless examples; that it is the cheapest, easiest and by far most successful way for a game to have continued popularity and relevance. Decades instead of months, and all it costs is making utilities and tools for users
This is how things used to be back in the hey day of PC gaming. Back then devs released mod tools which is similar to this. There were loads of great mods around that the community made. Kudos to EPIC
Yep. It's funny how people are excited about this, but this was common back in the days of Jedi Knight, Quake II, and Doom. In fact, that's how we got Team Fortress -- out of a Half-Life mod. It's also how we got Dota... out of a Warcraft III mod.
It is kind of crazy that peak console gaming is just normal PC mod gaming from 20 years ago
Let him cook🔥
@@billywashere6965 So what’s funny about being excited about this? You said yourself mod tools similar to what we have here is what game is the OG team fortress, so it seems to be pretty logical to be excited.
@@connorbranscombe6819 its funny because people act like this is new and fortnite made a breakthrough but thats only because they are too young to remember the other times its been done - hell even Bethesda have done this with their "creation kit"
The thing is.. the gaming industry used to be like this... but then companies turned into a bunch of greedy pricks..
Good to see Epic sticking to it's roots and being what all developers should be
don't let this make you think epic aren't greedy fucks.
Epic IS the company that turned everything into a bunch of greedy pricks ...
Epic killed the Unreal franchise. How is that sticking to your roots?
Don't be naive and think this is them turning innocent
The only reason it stayed like that is because gamers have supported it
UE5 breaks every limit of what developer can make. I'm excited for this and what the devs can come up with.

I always avoided fortnite for being too childish but now I am playing it with my kids I am quite impressed. They have a level of polish you just don't get from other games. Constantly keeping it fresh and seem to care about and listen to playerbase.. Crazy concept!
It's a good game. I personally don't like the building aspect but it definitely takes skill. Also, it's sort of predatory on children with it's monetization but that's up to the parents to deal with. My niece's kid got her to buy him so much unnecessary stuff for a free game that he's too cool to play now haha. But, I guess he got a lot of enjoyment out of it at the time.
@@Dethmeister yeah I have spent too much on v-bucks but it's harmless and up to parents.
I only play no build with my kids I don't fancy shooting people who turn into houses once shot at.
I started playing no build but after a while I started to see the potential for that extra layer of reactionary based skill. It definitely made for some tense moments. Both modes are fun.
I think the only thing it's really missing is a first person mode and an import for custom player models and weapon skins. I really hope they let this go to the extent that Roblox does where you can change or create basically anything, even UI changes or entirely new character animations.
Even though I absolutely hate the fortnite community, the gameplay and graphics are both amazing.
I appreciate almost everything for Epic games and their devs to take Fortnite to the next level.
9 Month update: Yeah. People are doing 2v2s now and Pizza Tycoon with zombies. Gaming industry really changed a lot.
The last one at the end was soo trippy I was about to crash lol
I've been saying forever that user creation features are the best thing for this era of live service games. Fortnite and Halo seem to have the right idea
Halo ? How so ?
back in the halo 3 days and all, yeah sure, but right now it's pretty dead (unfortunately)
@FLAM halo finally releasing forge and other community features have atleast made Halo Infinite stable instead of dead. And older Halo games having them at launch (3 and reach) are why those games had legs for years
the fact halo 3 and reach had better creative tools then their sequels says a lot tho:
Nah Halo is dead
Love Fortnite or hate it, you can't deny Epic does a fantastic job of keeping a game relevant, updated and finds new ways such as this to expand the experience to even more players. I commend that. I don't play near as much as I used to and I made tons of memories with friends on it. I am however glad to see it's still going strong and the community is enjoying it, and now - even more with the new oppurtunities and ideas that can develop out of this

The last part of the "Demo" (i suppose) is a story telling part: basically Epic shows you: hey, you can create a horror game like amnesia. or a puzzle game. then you get into the white room and see the rooms you've crossed through before, into the final door, showing the stars/universe like "look, there are as many possible worlds/games you can build as you can count stars in the night sky". beautifully made
Holy crap this is actually awesome. I wasn't a huge fan of Epic Games, but someone there gets it. Often the life length of a game depends on how effective the modding tools are. I'm glad more people are recognizing that the best way to make something gamers want, is to let the gamers make it themselves.

Pretty Damn Impressive - will be watching out for more on this! Thanks!
We just went full circle. We are back in the early-ish unreal tournament era of 15/20 years ago. The difference is that now we have new technology to create on a completely new level. EPIC will always be the only God tier company that actually values the players and community. It's a pretty amazing time to be alive for a gamer. This is history in the making, especially for those who were there when it all started in the early 2000's. It gives me a weird sense of happiness to see how it all grew up.
I’ve always wondered how awesome it’d be if battlefield let independent modders access to it. It’s be infinitely popular. From cod to milsim, the player base would be massive.
Wonder if devs will ever get it!?

Venice Unleashed gave some of this. Warsaw Revamped is an updated version for BF4 that is in development.
You always wondered and never Googled it? Smh. Battlefield 1942/2 mods. HELLO?!

Epic used to do this back in the day for unreal editor 2. But it was for Unreal Tournament. Which was the Fortnite of its time.

@@brawler5760 It sounds to me the best route for them would probably be a heavily modified version of Unreal 3, but I don't know it they'd want to use the resources, but it would be pretty cool and I think if they did do that, they would end up using that newly modified engine for other games not possible on 4 and 5.

The thing that impresses me the most about fortnite is not their ability to stay relevant game for years with a very sizable population of players but their refinement when they release updates. Unreal engine is a massively powerful tool for game development. Narrowing the focus of that tool a bit and allowing designers to easily create content for their most profitable game ever can only bring more profits, AND serve to bring more gamers and enthusiasts into their game design ecosystem. And with how many young people are obsessed with Fortnite that never would have touched unreal otherwise, this is their perfect gateway drug.

UT99 had a massive modding community due to UnrealED, something which lent to the longevity of the game. Mods weren't charged though, they were freely shared and just required the server to have the mod and clients would sideload it if they didn't have the map, model, texture or sound already. edit - I had to post this as I may still be a little salty for Epic releasing fortnite and canning UT4.
As if people aren't already working on something like that along with Paragon. Seems the two Paragon camps aren't great friends and I've seen some dissatisfaction from both. The assets were all released years ago.
I remember when fortnite was just a cool and fun battle royale with building mechanics and a pretty bland map back when the game came out. Yep, that "something" like Steam is the Epic Game Store.
Epic and Steam are competitors. Even outside UEFN, games released on Epic Games Store only cost the devs 12%, on steam, it's 30%. They only sit where they are with their library and marketplace/support mods and a user base as big as they do because they've sat in their ivory tower as a monopoly.
