      I binge this game for a week or 2 every couple months. There are of course issues with the majority of the game. Hit reg just turning off (very very occasionally, but more than most games) , and some horrific map design. Every map that has come out post launch has been very good! Game has very good movement and it’s still battlefield at its core. It’s good for farming enemies being that it has strictly CBMM. I find the game fun and satisfying.

      Yes and no... I was saying the same thing on launch, the specialists were just classes, but you chose your class based on the equipment you chose. The only difference really was the fact you weren't limited to what weapon you had to use if you wanted a certain class. Which was a great change IMO. (the only great change 2042 made).

    • @royce.lagomgaming
      @royce.lagomgaming 14 дней назад +1

      @@whatNtarnation90 that was exactly the problem though. Bf2 was brilliant because the class you were had distinct strengths and weaknesses. Engineers drove vehicles, but were limited on foot combat, assault, medics and spec ops were the fighters, recon stayed back. It was like constructing actual squads of soldiers instead of groups of individual heroes

    • @Wilbot3000
      @Wilbot3000 8 дней назад

      @@whatNtarnation90 I posted this in another thread as well.
      Battlefield requires classes. That being said, BF2042 at launch was not a BF game at heart. When any specialist can equip any gun or piece of equipment, it reduces the need for teamwork, which has always defined BF games. You had someone run assault for medic capabilities, you had someone run support for ammo, someone run engi for tank busting, and someone run recon for long range and/or reconnaissance. When every class can do it all, it makes the game feel more like COD and less like BF. You could run solo and not worry about your squad, which may have been by design considering they had no way to communicate with your squad in the beginning (virtually rendering squads almost completely worthless). Even the way BF2042 is right now is less like BFV and more like COD because every class can equip every weapon. It shouldn't be like that. The game is in an OKAY state right now, but it's not what I would consider a good BF game.

      Right? The main failing point of 2042 was that it tried to take ideas from all the games popular on twitch and awkwardly jam them in to a BF format. It seems hard for me to believe that Dice didn't listen to the streamers, when 2042 came out copying Valorant, Siege, Warzone, and Apex which were all the popular Twitch games at the time. Obviously Dice wanted in on the free marketing of Twitch, consulted a bunch of streamers, and ended up copying all the games they were playing almost exclusively. I find it hard to believe that Dice didn't listen to them, and I have a feeling streamers just don't want to admit that they are not game designers, and they do not actually know what players want to play or what goes into game design. I full heartedly believe Dice did what the streamers said, and got the result they did because of it, and streamers are like "that's not actually what we were saying" because they don't want to realize that they maybe gave input on a game they really don't ever play. I mean it seems pretty coincidental that the only game they consulted streamers on has this issue.

    @15:35 actually, the specialists were *not* inherently also classes. If you remember 2042 early days, every random soldier regardless of which specialist was running AA rocket launchers.

    • @Thedefenses
      @Thedefenses Месяц назад +2

      They kinda were classes, all of them could fit into one of the 4 traditional classes and were kinda designed around them, but due to the freedom to use any gadget and any weapon, almost no one would ever pick a healing crate or an ammo crate, as you could just take c4, a rocket launcher or armor plates to help you do better.
      also, the second point does not matter, your not gonna look from 100 meters away if the enemy is a assault or a medic and completely change your gameplan around that, their still getting shot the same.

    • @effyeadude
      @effyeadude Месяц назад +14

      @Thedefenses I disagree. In my 14,000+ combined hrs in BF titles from BFBC2 through BF1, I would consistently identify an enemy squad's composition and target their medics first, and hunt for spawn beacons and TUGS if I saw recon.
      Also, they only became classes when DICE locked certain equipment to specific sets of operators. Additionally, having 128 people using the same exact operators and skins made identification even harder, whereas before your enemies were distinguishable solely based on their kit and their uniform design (See examples in every other BF title since the original 1942)

    • @Thedefenses
      @Thedefenses Месяц назад +2

      @@effyeadude The only time i react differently to an enemy class is recon, and that's only due to the spawn beacon, otherwise its what ever.
      over the 550 hours in the franchise, i have never cared if what i am fighting is a medic, assault or a support, most of the time recon is also whatever during the fight, only after does it matter.
      the kill times are always fast so the enemy having an smg, AR or a dmr does not matter much, same time it takes for them to die, sure i fight different if i am at long range with a smg, but that more due to my own weapon than the enemy, no real reason to shoot at some one if you can´t kill them.
      if i really am gonna go into a full room, see a full 4 man squad sitting in there, sure targeting the medic would be wise, but as of current battlefield, everyone can revive, albeit slowly, so its best to just kill anyone that comes to sight, not take valuable time and search for the medic that most of the time is not even there due to how rare seeing them is often.

      @effyeadude Месяц назад +7

      @Thedefenses idk I guess you have a different approach.
      The overwhelming majority of long-time Battlefield fans would likely agree that they took a step back in the class system after BF4, which wasn't perfect itself, and 2042 was such a departure from what was a tried and true component of the franchise that it soured most of us BF veterans who mained these games for years.

      I hated battlefield 1 more than I hated any other battlefield game.. because of the gunplay, specifically. Random bullet deviation, sweetspot mechanics, forced effective ranges, the fact that literally every single pistol was quite literally better than 95 percent of every single primary weapon, regardless of caliber, or metric of weapon physics, or the fact that literally every overpowered weapon in the game was a weapon that either wasn't even used in actual combat, or was a literal one off design that in real life was completely terrible in actual function. However, visually, and atmospherically, the game was and still is, stunning. Simply gorgeous. The sound quality was amazing. But the thing that holds it in such a bitter position for me, and for most of the old school players of battlefield games, is the gunplay. If they had just implemented their tried and true weapons systems, gunplay mechanics, it would be hands down the best in their franchise.

    This video is a prime example of why they shouldn’t go to “content creators” for advice about their game. Shroud has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to battlfield and it shows in this video. Shroud saying “who cares” about BFV being historically accurate. Majority of the community cares, shroud. Saying battlefield 4 is overrated is the worst possible take I’ve ever heard. Battlefield 4 was way ahead of it’s time and still holds up to this day. Saying “who cares” about dog tags is ultimately cringe. He clearly has no idea what he is even dabbling into. Dices first mistake was coming to people like this for “advice” about their game. The class system is a fundamental function to battlefield. To this day on 2042 you will see “medics” with snipers and ammo boxes…. Shroud. You have no idea what you are speaking about yet you flap your lips like you own this shit. You clearly haven’t been around the battlfield community much. These are all very important things that make it battlefield. Shroud should stick to woke valorant for sure.

      100% agree with this. Streamers are some of the worst people to go to. Especially with a franchise like Battlefield. Saying the class system was there when it clearly wasn't, and still isn't as defined as it needs to be. Saying "who cares" about Portal when that would probably the best part of the game if DICE would actually give it the love it deserves. Saying Battlefield 4 sucks when pretty much everyone universally just wants DICE to make another game like it.
      Also Shroud saying that all the content creators were telling them not to do certain things is hard for me to believe. I think it was Lossy (back when he still did RUclips) that said that most of the streamers and other creators that DICE paid were just Yes Men who didn't criticize any of the dumb decisions they were making, but he did also say that whenever he or another person spoke up about an issue that they were basically ignored.
      Oh and you shouldn't you the term "historically accurate" when referring to Battlefield. What you probably mean is "historical authenticity." It's important to distinguish between the two terms because they don't mean the same thing. Accuracy is basically making it pretty much resemble real life in terms of gameplay and equipment and function. Authenticity is more like everything looks the part and fits with the setting even if it doesn't necessarily work like it did in real life or is a tad anachronistic. Battlefield 1 was far FAR from a historically accurate depiction of World War I, but it had a metric ton of authenticity to it, which is part of the reason it was received so well and remembered so fondly. It's important to use the correct term because certain people will take what you say literally and basically point at you and say "you're stupid because you want this to be just like real life instead of being fun!" That's what the devs and the media did with Battlefield V.
      Sorry about the entire essay I just wrote, lol. I just really care about this franchise, and I hate when tourists like Shroud come in and say that they know what's best when they clearly don't understand anything about the series or what the actual fans of it want.

    I feel like the term "Beta" has been co-opted by marketing teams to mean "hype building process" instead of its original purpose-- get the game into more hands, get feedback on the current state of the game, stress test systems under load, uncover bugs that might have been missed during the "Alpha" stage, etc. And then the most important step-- react to and fix those problems.
    Too often, I see game publishers announcing open betas along with release dates sometimes less than a month away. Like you said, one month is not enough time post-beta if you're serious about reacting to all the issues a beta event is going to uncover.
    This is where I like how XDefiant is doing things-- they keep announcing open betas, but the release date hasn't been announced. To me this says they're using the beta process as intended-- uncover bugs and fix them prior to release. It has the beneficial SIDE EFFECT of creating hype for the new game, but creating hype is not the PURPOSE of the beta. Marketing departments need to re-learn that important part of game production.

I remember launch night the average helicopter lifespan was less than 15 seconds because legit EVERYONE on the enemy team had a rocket in their backpack. Older BF games required you to play the engineer class to run rockets, so there was give and take. BF 2042 was all give no take which ruined the flow of the game.

    The biggest sin EA and DICE ever committed was halting development of Battlefront 2 after all the work the devs put into it. They spent 2 years working their asses of in love of star wars and video games to turn a pile of crap into one of the best games they have ever produced. Imagine if it wasn't canceled, rushed, or turned into fortnite with all the micro-transaction customization and card loot boxes. It would be a game still being played today. Even the community agrees with community mod creators keeping the game alive today. But they dug themselves into a hole with 2042 and took 3 studios working on successful/semi-successful games to try and match expectations with their ambition. Battlefield 5, Battlefront 2, and Burnout Paradise future development all swapped to the development of 2042. No wonder all the devs left before this.

    Battlefront 2 was good but didn’t have conquest the mode where you attack the enemies ship in space by blowing it up from the outside or the inside. I was always so confused with why that mode was never included

    I played since beta, but that January until September i had stopped. But was able to finally update the game and play again in September or something. Then after that i enjoyed it much more, then it just got better ater the score board, and class changes. Now I really enjoy it.
    No wonder I sucked so much in the beginning if the hit reg etc was so broken, I mean also it was new and I wasn't used to it but still

    Just started playing 2042 again earlier this week and its actually in a pretty good state, but still not perfect. I stopped playing before season one launch, tried it for a day shortly after, and didnt touch it again until now because of the unplayable netcode and performance, mostly (I would literally stutter back and forth just trying to move in the game, shots didnt connect more than they did, and the game struggled to run at 40fps on my machine). The core of the game is really good now and is actually enjoyable, the netcode is pretty much fixed, the performance is not bad (did have a minor gpu upgrade between but really not anything significant, maybe 15 frames in most games at the time of upgrade, really just wanted to get something newer and not Nvidia) other than loading and occasional LOD issues, and some very minor gripes about progression, but otherwise the game feels pretty good to play. All the guns feel pretty balanced; you can use pretty much any gun and if you can match its play-style you can be pretty competitive - along with being able to tailor them to better fit your play-style with the generous modding system -, you can use the vault weapons in the main game modes with the same attachments and universal cosmetics, and the maps feel pretty fair now with the exception of a couple (personally Arica Harbor 64 stands out, if you get US side its almost guaranteed chalked unless you have perfect squad cohesion across the entire team and the squads knowing how to play around the other squads of the team), but overall its a fun game. Its pretty much what ive been searching for recently to fill my gap in fps games when something like cs just isnt what im looking to play in that moment and I want something thats immersive, easy to turn off my brain and play but also get super locked in to if I feel like, with modern graphics and weapons more or less. I havent bought a COD game since BO3 and dont really feel like the gameplay would be super engaging to me for longer than 20 minutes, but 2042 fits right in where the matches can be a decent length or a complete blow out, but not a complete time sink and/or high stakes with something like tarkov. I really do feel like they did a classic dice battlefield launch here but to the extreme. Only thing I wish we had was a proper custom server browser and not just portal. Really miss me my bf4 infantry only 120/144hz servers and the community they foster, would be the only way I play the game if so, just like 4.

    Its funny hearing about the consulting at the beginning of this vid. I worked at a media company making a big-budget feature film script where notes were given directly from the audience intended for the story. Apparently they were completely ignored on the revisions. But then a new filmmaker came in and lo and behold all the issues ended up being addressed, but hilariously not even from the initial feedback. just their own revisions.
