I have to say this was so amazingly beginner friendly and easy to follow along I’m so relieved, I did a great square thanks to you and will be rewatching to do more! You make crocheting seem infinitely less daunting tysm
Hi again, I slept for two hours last night and been doing these beautiful squares for hours. I love getting to the magic ring. Doing these squares is the best way to past the time during this COVID. This COVID should not bother me because I have been in a hospital bed for years, but it does bother me because my family can not come to visit. We talk on the phone, but it is not the same. Please stay well and protected always. Your friend, Margie.
Awe. I’m so sorry you’re losing sleep. I’m in the same boat! I’m glad you have these to keep you busy.
finally a pattern I can actually follow using chunky yarn thank you so much.
You’re welcome! 🥰
EXCELLENT Tutorial. I finally understand how to do this. Great pace and your voice is easy to listen to. Thank you also for showing how to end the square. I thought maybe there was a better way to hide the knot.
Which knot? You can try different sts if you're referring to the starting chain?
Great Teacher, now my best friend! Could never learn the magic ring from different teachers, but with you, I learned right at the start. Thank you so much! Now my new Grand-daughter will have a cozy, warm, soft blanket made with love from Grandma. You are my forever Teacher now! Love you, Love you, Love you!!!
Awe. So sweet. I’m so glad you’re able to learn the magic ring. I’ll tell ya that I avoided it like a plague when I first started because I was afraid of it! 😄 it makes your circle so much better though!
A new subscriber due to excellent tutorial, with a great chat ,agree you have to crochet even when you’ve not started a project, great to do while on a short bus or car journey 🙏🏽🇬🇧
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Ur exactly right😊
Thanks for a great square pattern! 💓
You’re welcome 😊
Aha! I* just found your How to step-by-step tutorials❣️ Will start there 🤗.
Glad you found it! Let me know if you have questions or need other videos. ☺️
Thank you for sharing. Very explanatory. You are so talented.
Thank you for the kind words! 🥰
Thank you so very much! perfect video! One square down, many more to go:)
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! ♥
This is a great tutorial!!
Thank you John! That’s very kind of you 🥰
I didn't like the whole granny square blanket thing 😝 ... until I seen THIS! It has everything that draws me .. chunky yarn, easy pattern & a modern look! Thanks Phanessa! ☺
I'm so glad you like it! I still have bits of it all over my house! I should probably gather them and make more from scraps in time for a blanket this fall? :)
Designs by Phanessa Definitely! 🤗
This was wonderful, thank you
You are so welcome!🥰
Thank you for this. It’s very good. I, however, am not. 🙄 I slowed the speed, tried to follow step by step, but somehow I think I was doing something wrong. I think I messed up in understanding where-what exactly the stitches were and where to insert my hook. I wasn’t always sure of what I was looking at after I did the steps. It felt like you were super speedy at that point and quickly moved to the next step. I’ll try again later to see if my brain can get it. I’m a knitter but for some reason, I’ve had such a hard time making sense of where the stitches are in crochet and visualizing how it will look. Not a problem I have with knitting. I can also repair a mistake in knitting, but when I try to crochet, I find myself frogging everything because I have no idea where I am … But I am determined 😊 and given the feedback and how carefully you’ve done it … it’s got to be me, not you. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Will look through your videos to see if there is one that goes extra slowly and is explicit at each step in helping me visualize things - or will keep trying with this one.
I have a variegated Bernat blanket yarn bulk#6 I'd like to use. I want to make a simple cocoon shrug, I'll be delighted to see how it hangs and the weight of it, to wear in the chilly months when I'm at home or work
That sounds super cozy! I love curling up with my cocoons in winter! I’m not a fan of summer 🥵
Thank you !!! Finally think I've made a granny square !!! Please go slow lol
You’re welcome! You can change the video setting to play slower. 🥰
Did you ever make anything with your grannie squares?
Just ran across this video. I have tons of wool ease t&q in my stash so this is a great idea. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do one big granny square or not.
Did you ever finish? Would love to see how you put it together.
LoL no I never did. I have more squares but not enough for a blanket yet.
Tha k you soo much for sharing, Have a blessed Day
You’re welcome and you as well! 💜
Great tutorial, thank you!
What kind of crochet needle do you use? Those look so nice.
These were from Hobby Lobby - they stopped selling them.
Hi! Love your videos! I realize this is an older video, but I'm hoping you can help me. I have this hook used in the tutorial in smaller sizes and would like to get the larger sizes. Apparently they are not on the Hobby Lobby website anymore. I'm wondering if you have any information on where I might find them? I have large hooks by other brands, but I would really like to add these to complete the set. Yarnology is the name if I remember correctly. Thanks in advance! Have a great day and keep posting videos! Appreciate them more than ever during recent months. (Escape from Covid) I'm sure many people agree, so I 'll say it again for everyone that enjoys them. THANKS !
I’m so sorry I missed this! I’m now just seeing MUCH older posts! I hope you were able to find them because I haven’t seen them in some time! They’ve changed the look since I bout these which makes me sad because I lived these! Let me know if you found any!
Thank you!
Welcome!
Tx!!!! Pretty!!!!
You’re welcome ☺️
where did you get the hook from I love it
These are from hobby lobby but I don’t know if they are still selling these 🙁
Just out of interest what size hook did you use?
This one was either 9 or 10mm I think prob 9
Could you show a video of a half solid square please? Thank you
Working on it! Already recorded. Keep an eye out for it!
Is like the name of the hook you use. Send me a link
Unfortunately they stopped selling these at Hobby Lobby
Can you just keep making it bigger and make one solid blanket?
Yes you can but I don't have a tutorial for that yet... on my list!
Of course, you can probably figure it out... by just continuing more rounds...
What thickness of wool is it please ?
Super Bulky #6
is it just me that can't even do a magic circle? please help!!!!!
It takes practice. Here’s another video ruclips.net/video/LyFAOdmwgco/видео.html
You like sewing as much I do-- which is, not at all. LOL!
Ha ha
I swear I followed paused, follow paused, you know the routine. and for whatever reason my square did not come out a square. The amount of times I've tried this and I don't understand why I'm not getting it. I'm so frustrated. It's the simplest thing. Grrrrrrrrrrr. First half turns out great and then it goes downhill from there
Oh no! What does your square look like? Is it wavy or curling in?
@@DesignsbyPhanessa wavy. I redid it again lol it's so close. But I got too frustrated and called it quits and now I'm making a double crochet blanket,I guess you could call it. It's turning out nice so far lol My husband was making fun of me because I quits lol 🙄 I just figured if I could get used to the one stitch with fluffy yarn then I could finally do the squares. I seriously don't understand why I'm having such a hard time. I used to crochet about 10 yrs ago 🤭🤭
