Best part about Holtby saves 2 and 3 - he sticks the pad/glove out before the shot, as if to say he already knows where the puck is going before the shooter does.
At that moment i was thinking that he is one of the most underrated player right now, not even getting mention :D And he is one of the big reasons why Duchene is having a great season
@@ApparentlyGod Caps fan here who couldn't agree more. He seemed to lose it for a bit there, with flashes, but he is looking like 2016 Holtby in Dallas. Caps in 2019 just looked like they didn't want to play defense in front of him.
Anyone remember NHL '98 and how you could always score from the outside of the circles? Ovechkin is doing that in real life. EA was ahead of it's time, it wasn't a bug it was modeling reality!
Not only did OV score 750 against Daniil Tarasov, he also scored a goal against his father Vadim while Vadim was in the then-Russian Superleague (KHL predecessor).
The Rangers just seem like they're having a blast this season, always smiling, pulling crazy moves, messing with each other, it's nice to see even though I'm not a fan of the team
1 thing missing is that the Stars made NHL history by scoring a goal in the first 75 secs for 4 games straight, and Hintz first ever hat trick against the canes now that's 2 hat picks.
Good to see two Stars Hat-Picks in this week's edition. Maybe they are playing better. Another thing about Holtby's fantastic game. It was his 500th game and he ended up with his 293rd win, which breaks the record for most wins by a goaltender's 500th - set by Jacques Plante...in 1962...
Yeah, that duo's been kind of a cheat code for the Preds lately. I bet you saw Forsbergs face after that thirs and especially fourth goal when he was looking at Mikke?
Those Holtby saves were in his 500th game, and he now has the most wins in his first 500 games in NHL history. The stars also had 4 straight games where the Robo-Hintz-Pavelski line score in the first 75 seconds of the game, which is an NHL record. The Stars are on a 7 game win streak, I which they played some of the best offensive teams in the league, and have let in 9 goals in those games. Roope has 11 goals in his last 11 games after having no goals in his first 11 games.
If you wanted to mention the goals in 4 straight games that Dallas scored under 75 seconds into the game as a hat pick next week, I would not be mad. I thought it was pretty cool.
Hat-pick of the week for me is the Canucks win after firing Green and Benning. The pace of that game was a NEW Canucks. Not to get ahead of myself for the rest of the season though, however, when the coach makes the forwards actually PLAY FORWARD you get goals.
Robert Bortuzzo had a heroic shift for the Blues at Florida Panthers. Imagine going to OT, then having to kill a penalty ... and then your stick breaks. Bortz put his body on the line blocking shots and doing everything/anything he could. He's never going to get a Norris, but he's an unsung guy who deserves a moment in the sun for such an outstanding effort. Hopefully it makes it on next week's video.
It's not just the BIG hits, I get a feeling someone wants to fight after EVERY hit. Players used to keep their heads up ALL the time (especially when Scott Stevens was on the ice, or, perhaps, a certain fella called Kronwall), nowdays they run around million km an hour with their heads down.
Oh and another one that could go in both Dang it’s and Hat picks . Coghlans never give up on the play in Vegas vs Calgary. He was he last defender as one of Calgary’s players had a breakaway and he was back skating , caught an edge , and fell giving Calgary’s player the full breakaway, he beats Lehner and the puck just trickling across the goal line but Coghlan had gotten back up, skated back down the ice and got his stick on it and stopped it from crossing the line. That one is almost both a Dang it AND a hat pick because the dang it is him falling down, the hat pick is him not giving up , getting back up, and saving the puck from crossing the line 👍🏼
Taylor Raddysh scored his first NHL goal and his best friend Boris Katchouk scored his first NHL goal the next game. They came up from through the system at the same time. They come from the same town in Canada.
Out of the Paddle saves Holtby has the save of all paddle saves. Game 2 2018 cup final. And that would have to be a "dang it" for the Carolina. To be far to Senators it was a power play and JT Miller has been hot lately. Also the tic tac goal for the caps the other night was sweet.
For next hat picks video you gotta do the Zegras Michigan-esque goal against Buffalo . Also, in the Vegas Minnesota game Dadonov’s between the legs from the boards pass to Whitecloud for the goal . Crazy.
Absolutely agree that the Raddysh goal is worthy of a hat pick. But we just skipped over the detail that he got his first goal (and a beauty at that) shorthanded!? Shorthanded goals are tough to come by for even the best veteran players. That was special.
Me about to type a comment about that Holtby save emporium miss. But we got it *whew* I definitely tweeted “here is exhibit A, B, and C for Hat-Picks of the year” at you after this one!
Thank you for having Taylor Raddysh 1st goal. Been anticipating this all season for him. The kid line has shown up with BO Katchouk's first goal this weekend as well. Go Bolts.
Vladimir Konstantinov used to lay hits on like that and routinely did not have to fight. Ken Daniels point was valid. At least Wes McCauley and Co got the call right (no surprise there) and issued the instigator penalty.
Konstantinov didn’t have to fight because not only would he beat your head down between your shoulders, he had 4 other Russians on the ice with him that would be happy to do so as well
@@LighthawkTenchi Ummm, neither Fedorov, Kozlov, Fetisov nor Larionov were known as brawlers. Vladdy was the roughest of the bunch. Just look at his massive hits in the Finals against the Flyers. Vladdy would lay hits, and the play simply continued.
The crazy thing about Ovechkin is, he's _passing_ now. He doesn't just shoot howitzers from the Ovi spot. It's not just a question of if he can pass Gretzky, the math says it's entirely reasonable. The question is how long can he make a contribution? I disagree with Steve on the hits thing. Back in the 70's (as much as I can remember. I was a little kid) 80's, and 90's if you took a hit like that you took the guys number and tried to give him a bigger hit. As a former player who played at a high level and a life long fan, I feel that the body check is fading due to getting jumped if you lay a good hard one on someone.
Exactly. You hit him back. Sometimes fights would occur. I don't think the Red Wings broadcasters are correct that in today's game, a big hit inevitably results in a fight. How can there be more fights after big hits when the number of fights overall has gone way down? There's more likely to be a lot of shoving, face-washing, and chirping.
How can you not love the call on the Braden Holtby saves
