Its true especially with regard to Isles/Devils and Rangers. I was surprised to hear as many cheers as I did in the Garden for the Isles when they defeated the Rangers in their two recent games but Rangers fans invade both Isle and Devils arenas in Belmont (formerly Nassau) and Newark. Those three along with the Caps, Pens and Flyers ave shared the division in fairly close proximity for forty years now, save for New Jersey, who started in 1984 coming from Colorado.

I’m a Sabres fan, and for a Leafs fan to give a tribute to Rick Jeanneret, specifically at the end of a Hat Pick video, provides that we can have world peace after all.
    Top three favorite Jeanneret calls:
    1) “May Day”, of course.
    2) “Chris Drury! Who else? WHO ELSE?” 7 seconds to go in regulation in the PLAYOFFS. This was an incredible moment to watch.
    3) “These guys are good! Scary good!” My other favorite moment to watch. Knocking off Ottawa on the road, in overtime, shorthanded. Gorgeous goal by Jason Pominville, but an even better call.
I don’t remember who said it but most hockey fans remember what they see, but Sabres fans remember what they hear. Rick Jeanneret changed which sense we use to remember great moments for this team. To me, he’s the greatest play by play announcer ever to walk the earth. And we are VERY sad that he’s retiring right as the Sabres are about to gain playoff contention (next season) for the first time in a decade.
If the Sabres ever do win the Stanley Cup, the first question every Sabres fan will ask is “How would Rick have called it?” The man is a giant, and thank you for treating him as such, Steve.

I moved from CT to NY in the early 90s and I fell in love with the Sabres because of these 3 things: Empire network, Pat LaFontaine, and RJ. His voice is the soul of this team and not hearing him call a game again will be devastating. He deserves to rest though. And if we ever win the Cup, I will always imagine his voice calling it. Dan does a really good job though, especially coming after a legend.
My favourite call is 2-fold, the tying goal in game 5 against the Rangers in 2007 and the OT goal that wins the game. The way he says "Drury" with such abandon, omg. And then Afinogenov wins it and he loses it in the best way. His bellows, his voice breaks, his excitement. I love all of it. And I'm so grateful that we've had him for as long as we have. Enjoy retirement, RJ. ❤️

Those hip checks where you take the guy out and he flips heels over head (why is it head over heals? I mean I try to keep my head over my heals...) are dangerous. The checkee could land on his head and really get hurt. BUT, they are clean, solid checks and anyone who takes issue with them has no legs to stand on (see what I did there?)

They're all great, but I think this is the best Hat-Picks so far. Great jokes, great goals, great moments.

I think the Zegras goal would’ve been a hat pick had it gone in on his between-the-legs attempt. To follow up that shot with a classic wrap-around would’ve been a hat pick. To follow the BTL shot with the lacrosse shot and score is unreal. Coyotes are jealous and bad.

I'm not even a Sabres fan, but that Rick Jeanneret tribute is going to be a Hat-Pick of the year for me. Beautiful.

"Top shelf, where momma hides the cookies!", just one of the many memories that Mr.Jeanneret gave us that we will never forget as hockey fans. He will forever be imprinted in my mind as one of the best that ever did it.

As a goalie who started playing in the late 90's, there aren't many more fun and satisfying saves than a well-execute and successful two pad stack. Well done Moose. That was an awesome throwback.

RJ is the greatest local broadcast announcer of all time in any sports. I’m a Knicks and islanders fan so I get spoiled with Mike breen and Burke almost every game but RJ is something else. RJ always made the games he called feel much greater than what it was, didn’t matter if it was an ot winner in like the 25th game of the regular season or a playoff winner, he’d give you the same energy. I’m gonna miss him. Nothing will ever top “IN OOOOOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEERRRTIIIIIIIIME”
