    I bought some poster letters from dollar tree or maybe Walmart. Traced them and stitched them down. I put a kids childs name on a quilt. It was so cute.

      Thanks for the reminder! I did the same. I bought letters and numbers from the dollar tree with the intent of tracing them for quilting patterns. Then life got busy and I forgot all about them! They’re a nice size and look similar to the ones Jean found online. 🌷

    Hi Jean! You did what I was taught years ago by a quilt friend/longarmer-after you iron from the front, turn it over & iron from the back. I never did do that before she suggested it to me. And you can put my name on the Antique Store painting 😍 I love it!!! I so miss junking/thrifting!! Someday.....someday...hopefully can get back into those things when all this craziness is over 😊

Love birds, flowers and the eagle well that one really caught my eye. I’m happy that you have a out to keep your artistic talents flowing. I did a quilt using appliqué before the holidays, and I have to admit I’d rather sew seams. 😫. But there will always be a place for appliqué in the quilting world I’m sure. • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 2 года назад

      Yes, Jean, someone else mentioned that you have 5X magnification, is that correct? I’ve been looking for one like that, but the best I can find is 2 or 3X in the diopter, which is the size of a quarter! I need this for my counted cross stitch. I have to close one eye and hold my head in an uncomfortable position to use the diopter.
      I asked the eye doctor to prescribe high magnification eyeglasses for me. But glasses don’t work like that. The magnification changes depending on what distance you hold your work, and anything else is blurry. So you can’t ‘just add to your reg Rx’ for this. I didn’t know and was very disappointed!!!! So, I’m still looking. It would be great if your large lens (not the diopter) is 5X.
      Is it? If so, please tell us the make, model, and where you got it. Thanks so much!!! 🌷

    Hello, very nice tutorial.
    I'm newbie to appliqué and I love the personalized character it gives to a fabric
    I have some queries. I recently bought the Bondaweb fusible adhesive paper.. Is this the same as the Heat n Bond?
    And another question, does the glue become sticky to the needle when sewing the border of the fabric?
    Thank you for your time and help.

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for taking time to watch me:) I do believe that Bondaweb IS the same as Heat and Bond yes. Only when I have used a spray glue has my needle become gummy. I think that ironing/pressing well ANY adhesive before sewing, helps to dry it out and eliminate sticky needle syndrome! :) Hope this helps and all the best:)

    One caution about tracing from the screen: In my experience, when tracing on copy paper with a Sharpie, sometimes the permanent ink bleeds through the paper! 😬
    So, please be careful not to get permanent ink marks on your computer screen! 😱
    💡Maybe use a kids washable marker.
    💡Also, don’t press too hard if it’s a soft screen surface.
    💡I do use this method often by tracing things on my iPad. You just have to be careful not to bump the screen with your bare hand or you might move or accidentally resize it. I find it helps to snap a screenshot first so I don’t accidentally activate any links on the page! 😂 🙃😁

  • @elliechampagne4210
    @elliechampagne4210 2 года назад

    This was very helpful - it got me thinking. You could streamline the process a little using Microsoft Word. Choose a font where you like the shape of the letter outlines. Enlarge the font size. You are not limited to just the sizes in the drop down box - you can type in a larger point size, for example 144. Type the letters you want to create - I would recommend putting spaces between the letters, so you have room to cut them apart. See this video for instructions on how to print just the outline of the letters: ruclips.net/video/ctPBzdRQbaA/видео.html This will get you to the point of tracing the "normal" letters off the screen. IF your printer allows you to print in Mirror Image, you might be able to get to the point where she traces the letters on the back side of the paper. Then continue to follow her instructions.
