    Looks like the same one I have... I also have a hose I can use that hooks up to a 25 lb tank and hooks onto that adapter. My stove is 2 burner tho, I use it for melting range scrap into ingots

    Awesome thank you for sharing, this may be the way to go. Have 2 of these old stoves and my Mom wanted to use one for outdoor kitchen, but was too overwhelmed when I explained using the white gas, pump etc 😄👍

    Thanks! I've got one old 3 burner Coleman from when I was growing up camping out (I'm 68 now, so that stove is probably 50 years old). I've got another older Coleman 2 burner from back when the case had sharp corners, not rounded. I think it went with us to Alaska when my Dad was transferred there in the 50's. This adapter will bring life back to 2 stoves that have a lot of memories associated with them. Thanks again!

    I have a Colman propane stove that we loaned out years ago and it came back w/o the propane attachment. I tell myself "you need to get a replacement", and haven't yet.
    I also have an old liquid fueled one that's been sitting in storage for a couple three decades.....I fire it up from time to time.
    I think if I get that adapter, I'll be set to use either or.
    NOW, if you were to get a bulk tank adapter for the little canister to bbq tank, you'd be set for a good amount of camping.
    Thanks for sharing this!!

    I bought one of those propane converters for my Coleman suitcases (I have six of them) at a Cabela's not too long ago, but I find white gas easier to work with. One thing to consider (and needs to be mentioned) is that if you are camping in the winter months and need fuel for a stove, you cannot beat white gas. For some odd reason, when temperatures dip, propane - especially those little green 1 lb. bottles - lose both their efficiency and their operating pressure. White gas doesn't.

    Thanks for sharing. Have the same 3 burner, along several other versions of Colman camp fuel and propane stoves. Have a couple of those adapters too. Can connect to 1 lb cylinders and 20 lb+ tanks. Just did a google search and there are a couple of companies still supplying this adapter. Get them while you can, as liquid fuel stoves are being replaced by propane. Do keep a spare or 2, if you're like me. Bought my first Colman stove in the late 1960's or early 1970's.
    Again, thanks for sharing!

    They definitely work for the three burners, but mine said it was suggested to be used for a two burner. I hooked mine up with that and a converter hose for a regular propane tank and use it for a side burner for side dishes when I'm grilling.

    I love these adapters. I think these adapters are better than the valves that come with the straight propane two burner type stoves. Those connections typically have some fine brass threads that are easily cross threaded. Why stop here? You can stack butane adapters onto this one. I have a video on the kit I made. You can get a hose to connect this adapter to a bulk tank too. 5lb bulk tanks are all the rage with the overland crowd.

    This propane converter is getting to be a very rare animal now days. Stansport quit making theirs, I have a Mr Heater version on order currently. Not to be found now at Walmart, Amazon, Bass Pro, or Cabelas. I've seen enough of these videos like yours to make me want one just for the versatility of it. Nice video!

      I found out that this adapter is currently available from Mills Fleet Farm, in Minnesota, for $19.99 plus $7.99 shipping.

  • @mikemorgan5015
    @mikemorgan5015 2 года назад +1

    I have both models of that adapter too. The new one IS better. The "generator" on these adapters isn't a generator at all. It's just a pipe with a gas tip on the end. The propane is already vaporized when it gets to this thing. You really need to not hang the bottle like that. You know those funky aluminum adapters that come with table top grills and put the bottle at a funky angle? They do that for a very good reason. That angle maximizes the surface area of the liquid propane inside the bottle so that is doesn't freeze up as fast and keeps liquid propane to come out. This bottles will run a single burner great, 2 burners ok, and 3 burners not so good if you need cooking power. Pancake griddle? No problem. Griddle full of meat? Not so well. These are best used with a 20lb bottle or larger and the adapter hose that plugs into this adapter. The 1lb cylinders just don't have enough surface area to absorb enough heat from the surrounding atmosphere to maintain high output on a big grill or stove. It will work great for a few minutes then the performance will drop rapidly. If you put the cylinder in a bucket or pan of warm water, you can reduce the freezing and performance loss significantly.
    While I prefer to run white gas, I keep one of these propane adapters and a 20lb tank adapter hose with my stoves when I take them out. They work great and are idiot resistant compared to running white gas. I say that because there is always someone who says or thinks they know how to run a white gas stove and ends up lighting the night sky. These let me feel better about letting others cook.
