Venus and Serena are both great champions and both have shown their amazing resolve and heart through the years. It's a bit uncanny as how both of them were spared in emergency situations at Wimbledon by rain delays. It's almost like Wimbledon was their home court in a way considering their outstanding success there. Serena was helped a bit by a rain delay here and Venus a few years prior against Clijsters in the semifinals.
I don’t think that rain delay helped Venus. Venus was about to retire from the match and her family encouraged her to continue in the rain delay. She probably did more damage to her ab tear by playing the rest of the semifinal and final which kept her out for many months
@@Ttjam1 You are correct it most likely didn't help her in the long run, but it certainly helped her to regroup to win that particular match against Clijsters. Much like this rain delay helped Serena even though her physical condition hindered her against Henin in the next round.
@@Moods189 I loved this match because you saw Serena play her shots at 100% (she had to due to the hampered mobility from the injury). In the post match interview she said it would be low percentage to play like this all the time, but the fact that everything seemed to be going in when it needed to made me wonder if she could play like this more often.
Well there is nothing to be ashamed of. She was consistently in the top 10 for years during the most competitive era of women's tennis & to reach that level of success is already extraodinary. But she's not somebody like Venus or Henin, she's not even in the league of Davenport or Hingis. All Serena needs to do is to readjust her game and keep the rally as short as possible and it's game over for her.
Daniela was basically a journeyman player who was overhyped during her breakout season in 2002. She never lived up to the hype and only had 1 good season after 2002, namely 2007 when she won Indian Wells for a 2nd time.@@secrets.295

I really believe she would have beaten Henin the next round of she hadn't slipped!
