That dog barking after the Ferrari's horn at the end was hilarious! LOL!
I was in L.A. back in 1979 , and saw Mick Fleetwood pull up to a 7-11 convenience store late at night, in a midnight blue Ferrari 512BB...he drove off and I waited for him to shift it, but he just kept it in one gear, and just headed for the redline in that gear, until he dropped over a hill and out of sight...that was one of the greatest sounds I ever heard
The 512BB sounds so vintage, with a well-bred yet "comin' to git-chew" snarl to the exhaust note.
Really well done video. Great narration and no obnoxious music played over the engine and exhaust sounds. Keep up the great work
+Random12231 Thank you sir! I was super excited when I got the chance to shoot a Ferrari Boxer. I haven't found any other videos of that car being driven like this.
second the lack of obnoxious music. The engine is the music.
The engine and exhaust ARE the music. Anyone turning on the stereo deserves to have the car taken off them and then be thrashed soundly.
That sound... ahhh real music masterpiece.
3:27 is quite possibly the best engine noise I have ever heard.
A symphony of cylinders!
Yeah, and 4:47 is good too (just after the dog and the Testarossa).
There's something funny about a yellow Testarossa with a Shepard barking out the window :P Wonderful cars and lovely sound from that 512BB!
Wow , absolutely fantastic ! A 12 Cylinder flat engine , a rare configuration. The only other sports car to have that kind of cylinder lay out was the porsche 911, which had a flat 6, it sound like one too. What a beautiful design, a fitting replacement to the legendary Berlinetta Boxer. Ferrari truly arrived in the 12 Cylinder Mid Engine arena with a bang!
Porsche 917 had flat 12, but its a racecar.
The German Shepard was the cherry on the top! Great video.
Nice to hear these cars being driven the way they should be 😀
I love the 512 and it's design ! God, I wish I could drive one one day. Chris your videos are so excellent, especially the sound recording ! I would give 2 thumps up if I could ;)
That's a german shepherd there. An homage?... Now you'll have to return the favour... :)
TheGetawayer Thank you very much, Guido! Don't WISH you could drive one, MAKE IT HAPPEN! :D I count the days to see Guido the Getawayer drive a Ferrari Boxer! :D
the 512 BB. my favorite road going Ferrari of all time.
The BB is so much better looking that than the TR.
Oh shit! the TR is a ferrari's car simbol ever!
+Buelligan88 Considering the BB was the Fastest production car in 1974-75, it is still slower than the Base model 360 Modena of today.
not...really.....
the testarossa is a very beautiful car and if you think the bb is better looking well good for you sir, but many disagree
I think that TR is let down by the yellow paint, it suits some Ferraris but not that. It’s a beautiful car that’s aged well
I love the BB as well both stunning
Hi from England. Awesome, thank you. Just love that cool German Shep too!
nice video. I have owned my boxer for nearly 16 years...a great machine and really one of the last of the breed.
Beauty and passion a German car could never achieve
I love how at 4:18 during the drive-by, you can here the dog bark at the cameraman.
I swear to god I was browsing through 512 bb videos that Ive already seen and just stumbled upon this. Uploaded today... Can't beat that feeling lol.
Haha Thanks man! I knew I had to do a Boxer video, because I haven't seen a Boxer driven like this and it was time to change that. :)
My four favorite modern Ferraris of all time. 1. 308, 2. 512 BB Boxer, 3. 288 GTO, 4. Testarossa. The first three all masterpieces of the all time king of Ferrari design, Mr. Leonardo Fioravanti himself. Fioravanti's cars are the some of the best looking Ferrari cars ever.
Great to see the cars, and the dog giving it attitude out of the window -classic
512bb must be one of the nicest looking cars ever
Lots of people love "Berlinetta Boxer"
Ha! I have the very magazine you mentioned (Road & Track, February 1982) framed and mounted on my wall right now. It was my favorite picture of exotic cars as a teen.
+Moses Berkowitz Very cool! Right after doing this video, I got on ebay an ordered myself a copy. :)
DtRockstar1 Excellent! I got mine on Ebay too. It was quite a pleasant surprise to see that same Boxer again in your video. Keep up the good work.
+Moses Berkowitz Thank you very much!
Great footage! The 512BB is a delight to watch!
Thanks man! I was extremely excited when I got the opportunity to shoot this car, it just doesn't get enough attention here.
@ 1:22 "The boxer was the first Ferrari to have the mid engine 12 cylinder layout" - Oops wrong!
In 1973 the 365 Berlinetta Boxer was the first FERRARI PRODUCTION ROAD CAR to have a mid mounted 12 cylinder engine, but the first Ferrari to have a mid-mounted 12 cylinder engine was the 1963 250 P.
This was a race car that competed in GT racing that could be legally driven on the public roads (and was often tested on the public roads using PROVA test plates - As were the old Ferrari F1 cars!)
That damn Ferrari 12. Awesome sound!
512BB One of my favorite Ferraris. About it not being sold in North America, a friend of mines father who's a Ferrari collector took delivery of a brand new rosso corsa 512Berlinetta Boxer from The Collection(the dealer)in 1984 at his home in Key Biscayne, Florida and I was there. Great video btw.
I've driven a carb 512. Most badass car I've ever driven, and I've driven a lot.
Phenomenal sounds, beautiful !
Yeah♡♡
BEAUTIFUL
Lengthy crank-time followed by smoke form just one exhaust - confirmed, it’s running carbs!
I like the Car Alarm! German Shepherd
Just stumbled across this video from BaT link. Literally filmed right across the street from my house. Saw the cars parked in the lot the day they were filmed. Have some stuff in my garage as well....
+fiatosca fiatosca Haha, small world! This video wasn't even pre-planned, it was a spur of the moment thing. Are you at liberty to share what you have in your garage?
+fiatosca fiatosca Ahh, yes! I do remember the Fulvia from several years ago. I would definitely love to check out those cars, I just checked out the video and you seem like a really cool guy! Shoot me an email at lightning_shred@hotmail.com. My name is Chris, and we can talk further!
I really enjoyed this.
After years off being called " a cattle truck"
the Berlinetta Boxer 512 is now a collectors Ferrari.
As I write a beautiful Rhd

1976 BB512 Carburetor model sold in Australia for $US480,000 !
Love the Testarossa owner who takes his GSD everywhere he goes! Some dog carrier!
A symphony of cylinders!
Awesome Fly Yellow or Giallo testarosa rocks
293 km/h back at the end of 70's: Ferrari put the Star Trek's Enterprise on road tyres.
Two grest Ferraris together ❤️
the dog on Ferrari seat !! are you crazy?
Its a car, use it. Who cares
@@johnmeurer4780 exactly
@D B i think that the ower of this car owns more then one car !
@D B i think your laying !
@D Bon the contrary, I guess I am very fortunate ...as a matter of fact I truely owned those types of cars therefore I know what I am talking about
Never forget always add 1% good smokefree Api TC two stroke oil to the fuel when using modern ultra dry aggressive ethanolized pump fuels in old clasic cars, in Germany most Alfa and Ferrari drivers do so. This prevents corrosion in tank lines and carbs and lubricates the valves and top piston rings. You can minimize top piston ring wear around 40% when using a top lubricant, also two stroke oil contains anti vapor lock additives and sodium that lubricates the exhaust valves stems when using unleaded fuels on engines constructed for
The whistle in air intake manifold looks like a superchargerd car...amazing
I think it may be the gearbox gears
Italian sport car are the Rock engine of the music... Wauuu.. 👍👍👍🎵🎵🎵🇮🇹
what a treat for the dog!
I miss that sound so much! 😔
Sweet car but I'm loving the Testarossas sweet look more
The 512 BB is such a beautiful car.
it's about time someone took out classic supercars like this and drove them the way they were designed and built to be driven.! I get so tired of seeing these collector car auctions and guys buying these cars and parking them in the garage and maybe driving them a total of 2 miles a year at no more than about 30 miles an hour. these cars were built to be driven and driven hard and these two guys driving these two Ferraris right here are driving them exactly how they were meant to be driven and it is extremely awesome to see them doing it and not being scared to drive them hard. I guarantee you if Enzo Ferrari himself could see them do that he would have a bigger smile on his face and he would be happier to shake these two guys hands then he would to shake the hand of one of these rich Pricks at an auction that by his cars that he designed back in the day and then Park them in a climate-controlled and sealed garage and don't ever drive them. Enzo Ferrari would probably offer to buy the cars back from the guys that Park them in the garage just so that he could take them out and drive them the way they were meant to be driven. Yes it's fun to look at a Ferrari and it's great to see them at car shows and to get the walk around them and look at all the details and all the body lines and things like that but to see one being driven on a racetrack or in this case on a road LOL hard as hell and see them being put through their gears and rubbed high and shifted at a high RPM range that's exactly what these five liter V12 Ferraris Were Meant to do. They weren't meant to be driven at 20 miles per hour up the block and then gently turned around and driven at 20 miles an hour back down the block and back into the garage and parked in that same garage for the next two years until someone decided to back it out of the garage again because they're too scared that they're going to back into something or they're too scared that they're going to have a wreck. I understand that you want to protect your half a million dollar investment or in certain Ferrari cases your multimillion-dollar investment but at the same time you're multimillion-dollar investment was not designed to be put up on a rotisserie in your garage and stared at. Take that car out and drive the hell out of it and I don't mean do it all the time every day all day. Take it out every once in awhile push it run some fuel through the carburetors for god sakes work that motor work that gear shifter burn the tires drive the car!
But I think that the 512 bb wasn't the first MR engine layout, the first Ferrari with the MR engine layout was the 250LM.
First road car.
You do great work, DtR
Thank you very much, sir!
LOL that GSD was funny hahah always barking at something xD
Yessss, it's a German Shepard Dog most luky in the world!
Wish the headlights were down/off for the exterior shots - surely nobody thinks they improve these gorgeous lines when they're up?
Soundtrack takes me back to playing the original Need For Speed game from the '90s.
Boxers were sold in Canada!
Straight 6 sound 👌 I like flat 12s
Does it still feel fast by today’s “ quick “ cars. M3 etc.
nice. I especially love the rear of the TR. just such a cool low profile.
Saw a silver one of these the other day. Incredible!
Great sound.
wow, big shepard in the passenger seat! sounds like the start to a Dead Milk Men song!
Oh my god ....
so beautiful cars , nice sound ....
❤️❤️
Nice shoot! It was pretty cool to see this car!
Beautiful cars. My favorites. But then again, those years. All Ferraris were my favorite. But, is that Michigan U turns I see? Is this Wooodward?
I used to park my sunglasses with their legs down the dashboard air vests. I would never lose them that way.
Hmm, I'm very particular about how a Ferrari should be driven, those gear shifts are too quick. Take your time, click that gated shift into its slot, let the engine note fall off somewhat, then let the next gear build back up. These cars aren't about trying to be a DCT, it's all about the noise and experience.
That Enzo Ferrari quote has always annoyed me. Why aren't all of his cars front wheel drive then?
because Enzo, after saying that, changed his mind when he realised how fast and maneuverable the english mid engined cars where, beating the more powerful front engined Ferraris.
So he finally moved the engine in the rear of his racing cars (model 156 of 1961, with wich he took the championship against the Coopers that had won the previous two years), and on his road cars (with the Dino 308 GT4 of 1973: but Lamborghini had already made history by making the Miura in 1966...)
This is one helluva car indeed!
Is it a flat 12 like a testarossa or a boxer 12 similar to the boxer 6 in the 911.......
so much nicer than todays ferraris with a much more mechenical sound
That dog. Haha
Driven hard?? One can only assume you’re referring to your state of arousal as these cars were babied in this video.
so beautiful car
Perfection!
Thanks rock star......loved the vid, the 512 for me was way nicer than the Testarossa.....Awesome sound and performance.
Thank you sir! I personally am a huge fan of both cars, but there just
isn't any footage of the Boxer being driven like this. No one knows what
it sounds like, so I thought it was time to change that. :)
Thank you for not only opening our eyes, but our ears as well.....The car sounded so bad ass......A great video, very well done......And oh yes, ''I loved the dog '' he was having a great time to.......Would love for you to do a video on a very rare 1984 Ferrari GTO.....That would have to be my favorite of all Ferraris..........again my friend, thanks for the great vid........Keep up the great work......cheers.
skipfrancis Thanks man! It did have an aftermarket exhaust, but the owner wasn't sure which one it was. It was on the car when he bought it.
skipfrancis you bet man! As far as the carbureted version, it's usually louder and makes more music than the fuel injected version. In fact, I was at a car show a couple years ago where I saw both versions accelerating away. The carbureted version was noticeably louder!
i aways hate that poeple think its a boxer flat engine when actualy it is just a 180 dagree v format... i also dont know why ferrari called it a boxer
180 degree is flat, not V. 180 degree as in perfectly opposing...
I'm a fan of American muscle and the Chrysler products of the mid-60's through the early -70's in paticular (hence my You Tube i.d. photo) but the 512 BB is the only non-Mopar I'd ever wish to own. These cars should've never had stereos installed. With the "music" provided by the engine it's not needed.
Fido the dog instinctively barks at mustangs and dodge challengers and rice rockets.. There's a good drive by in the original "gumball rally"
my man just time travelled from the 80s just to make this video
IS THAT WHAT YOU CALL DRIVEN HARD???
Why have a stereo when you have that.
Só existem 2 esportivos puro sangue Ferrari e Porsche
What is the "cable thingie" on the right air intake at 0:17 & 2:04. Is that power for the cameras?
love the testarossa in yellow ... and 512 beautiful car ... but i still prefer the 365 bb ... slightly "cleaner" look in my opinion at least :) ... still a 12 middy but smaller capacity .. not sure if you guys ever got that over there ... and love your work ... wish i could get to see most of those cars ... never mind actually get to ride in them ... sigh
I actually did see a 365 BB while in California. They are very rare though, I think less than 400 were made. I've seen over a dozen 512s, but only one 365. Thank you for the kind comments man!
Get those likes up to 512.
Great audio with the video.
Enzo had no executive decision when this car was made
Do you prefer hidden or exposed fog lights?
I love both!
Two Idiots² I am a huge fan of popup headlights!
Prettiest car ever made 512
Guess no one will steal the Ferrari with the dog around!
Is there a better sound in cardom!? I think I passed out for a moment....
The Dog Owns that car !!
Sound like a Porsche a certain revs...
awesome!!!
I think the first mid engined ferrari was the Dino 206.
That is correct, but as stated this was the first 12 cylinder mid engined Ferrari.
Ok.
DtRockstar1 At least in production form. First mid engine V12 Ferrari was the 250 LM.
USA de Ferrari 512 BB Boxer driven hard in #UK in 15 2024
Too bad the roads don’t seem to turn much. Lovely car(s).
very amazing bb boxer 👌👌👌👌👍👍
A German Shepherd with a Ferrari Testatrossa.
Nice video, but putting a hairy dog with dog claws and drool in a 512 TR? Mama mia?!?!
Andreas Eichler Well, that's no 512 TR, it's a Testarossa.
+gabezYTchannel Nope, the 512 TR (built 1991 - 1994) is the first face lift of the (1984 - 1991) Testarossa - the first evolution of the Testarossa. Second is the F512 M (1994 - 1997).
the TR does in fact stand for Testarossa . and those who know anything about Ferraris or perhaps anything about the Italian language knew that the word Testarossa meant redhead and they started that back in the sixties when they painted the heads of their race cars red so they started calling them Testarossa and it carried over into production cars and although the 512 TR was always known as the Testarossa no one really knew it by its true model name which was the 512 TR.... the misinformed people who always referred to the 512 TR as just simply the Testarossa are mistaken. And you can blame that on a little show called Miami Vice. Because Don Johnson drove one on Miami Vice. and countless posters came out that simply said Ferrari Testarossa. so that confused a lot of people and a lot of young boys were misinformed back in the day and thought that the model was simply call the Testarossa. The Testarossa name has been on several different model of Ferrari such as the 250 TR the 512 TR and several others as well. and people used to get confused about the numbers in front of certain Ferrari model names. Some people thought that the numbers were random numbers chosen to designate a model. When in fact those numbers had meaning. Such as the 308 gtsi in which case the 308 meant it was a 3 liter 8 cylinder engine or the 338 which was a 3.3 liter 8 cylinder or in the case of one of the cars were talking about in this comment section the 512 TR which was a 5 liter flat 12
I love how he drives dog in ferrari.. That's so great
Also I like BB much more than testarossa.. Great comparison coubtach and bb
0:36 BB!!!
Definitely carbureted.
