Underrated channel man, Tiff Needell really need to be recognized more even today, the most legendary driver/reviewer ever, who can give us thoughts and even drive spectacularly
Agree. Shame this is just an advert.
And he can still stall like anybody else, heh. :)
I love the Koenig Special cars for the exotic styling but more impressively their turbo engine conversions. The ultimate version of this 512 BB from Koenig , had a twin turbo flat 12 , 620 brake and a claimed 205 mph. In the 1970 's!!. My favourite's are : 512 BB twin turbo , Koenig Competition Testarossa ( 1000 bhp ) , Koenig C62......Turbo Legends !
He also did a version of the 308.
Nicely done Tiff. Looking forward to getting my white BBi finished and back on the road
As much as I appreciate the "Radwoodness" of this car, I think yours is much more desirable and timeless - Great job on the restoration by the way!
@@Ziccolumbia thank you 🙏🏻
@Ratarossa - thanks for sharing!
👍
Koning tuned cars were doing over 200 mph way before the start of the hyper cars especially though Ferraris with Turbos added.
It screams 1983 for sure, but a stock 512BB is a thing of beauty, red over black of course
Yes. The kit isn't for me.
this car is much older. it has carbs and no injection what the 83 had
Gosh.... As a courier on the early and mid eighties, I used to love zipping up and down Goldhawk Road to glimpse all the madness and motoring beauty in Straight Eight.
It all seems a little ostentatious now, but as a teen I thought those gleaming exotics and wonderful domestic designs were a delight.
Really love the Koenig Ferraris!! Speciale the TT 512 BB and 512 TR , that 1000hp version is absolutely amazing!!
I remember that car from TOCA 2.
TOCA 3 had a Koenig version of the Ferrari 360 as well.
There was a magazine advert for engine oil that featured that modified Testarossa that quoted it's vital statistics, if I remember correctly
Tiff, you are always a class act. Thank you.
The 365 BB is my fave prancer. Such a classic!
Props to Mr. Needell for risking stalling by riding the clutch as little as possible.
From my eyes maybe the best looking Ferrari ever
I love Koenig specials. They capture the excess of the era. More is more.
I played golf once with Tiff Nedell, thoroughly nice chap
Only once? I can understand why.
@johnpoile1451 why u here bumbaclaat 😂
@@KanyeKetchup you seem intelligent 🤔
BB stands for Berlinetta Bialbero=Coupé Twin-cam.
The 512BB was the first twin-cam 12-cylinder Ferrari.
Judge that body kit not by modern tastes, but by the era it came from.
Wise words!
I was working on a house in New Hampshire and there was one in the barn. We were doing sprinklers on a clay tennis court and a man was there painting the barn. He dripped paint on it! I told him, hey, you're dripping paint on the Ferrari, do you have any clue what that's worth? He shrugged his shoulders and said, I always wanted to paint a Ferrari! Needless to say he wasn't there the next day! It was the bb 512 berlinetta
Tiff is an amazing storyteller. I could listen to him all day...
I had no idea you had a channel Tiff. Glad to see you're on RUclips.
I have a poster of this car in red that I tore out of a Top Wheels magazine in 1984 or 5. Thank you from the fifteen year old car guy in me. I can see it run. You're awesome.
WooW! Lucky one who gets this beauty!
...BTW...recently checking Koenig-Specials website they still have KS original spare parts of 1 front splitter and 1 rear wing in their stock for Ferrari 308/328 which had similar bodykit as 512BB....
Oh
My
God
What a fabolous car...
The clutch in the BB is quite stiff, and essentially on/off. Very easy to stall until you get a few sessions with it.
Ah, the heart and soul of Fifth Gear! Great video!
Would love to see tiff power sliding this bad boy on a track like he used too
Koenig Specials ultimate world class tuning styling 🔥 💣 💪 🍸✊👌❤
Amazing car. Quite something to try and develop on from the jaw droppingly gorgeous original car. So massively 80's.
Have to say though, if only I had the chance I'd rather the standard version, like Mr Rat's.
Amazing car! Love it
I have had my koenig 512 for 30 years and have put up with nasty remarks like these for most of that time. She is a glorious car to drive and the only things I have changed are the wheels and the throttle linkage to make the throttle less heavy. Mine now has the same tyres as the F50 and she is great on track. Oh and I do have seatbelts. I would never drive without. ruclips.net/video/0suwW7gXFFA/видео.htmlsi=0JbUPZAXLj1otlHK
Very recently, a friend at a specialist garage was working on a 512BB. He had to source a single gear cog for the gearbox - it cost €5000. Ps. the welding on these cars is terrible - anyone with more than a week's basic training could do better.
Altho there’s a common misconception on welding. An ”ugly” weld can very well be good enough for the job. Only when that joint cracks can we say for certain that weld is ”bad”. And, as we all know, they actually rarely do on Ferrari’s.
As Enzo used to say.. you pay for the engine. The rest of the car is free.
Looks stunning ,80's Don Johnson Miami Vice style !
Looks awesome
If I remember rightly wasn't there one of these on a really old episode of top gear can't remember which ferrari model it was though but it was very quick
Tiff looks a thousand years old
Ask him out don't be shy
Porsche is a Boxster, Ferrari a Boxer.
Koenig cars and Tiff, how the fuck does this have a dislike?
Cheers! Tiff.👍
Looks ace!
I remember as a kid being impressed with Koenig Ferraris in magazines. I think they’re an abomination now but typically 80’s early 90’s
Tiff, legend!
Nice seeing Tiff making some money, but God knows who wants one of these.
Tiff Needel? Koenig Special? Don’t really need any more reason to watch! 👍
The dividing line between poor taste and excellent is so fine....
Lovely car but that windscreen wiper would do my head in! 😂
Is that fiat 127 lights used for the spotlights?
My absolute dream car is koenig competition evolution 🤤🤤😎
Dis is dope
Wish this was longer
Stick to your American Lead Sleds then
@@KanyeKetchup I meant the video and im british lmao
I have a pretty much full race kitcar inspired by the Koenig Ferrar 512BB.. Its one of the better body kits made by Aldino cars in Wisconsin..
dd classics has the kew price premium on all their cars !
I doubt very much that Sig. Fioranti was ever going to be impressed with this chaos of his classic; tinker with the engine by all means...
Have they sold it already? It's not not on the Website!
Yes proud new owner here
Can we talk about that wired Front wing on the countach @2:21?
No
Chris Evans might buy this , he loves his white Ferraries, although he might say he's a purist
Always driving classics
I can't taker seri any intake with the grills on. Offers not protection but kills air flow
yes please
Don't think the salesman was very impressed with Tiff's driving?
they took an amazing & elegant looking car & committed an Aesthetic murder to it
My dad sold his standard BB in 1980 for 18,000 quid. What a mistake.😪😪😪🤤
Old father time is really catching up with these old top gear presenters, live every day like it’s your last
Bit harsh there Tinky Winky
@@KanyeKetchup
Harsh why?At least they can say they’ve had the best years of motoring before it all turns to crap.
I have almost never seen a Ferrari kit, that play the part, except for the ones made by Michelotto.
The 512 BB needs no kit.
That story about BB has been disproven time abs time again.
What is he talking about..Boxer is a flat cylinder engine with opposing cylinders.
In a boxer engine each of the pistons fire together with that of the opposing bank, like boxers punching glove to glove. That's not the case with the BB
The style still looks so good! Nice segue to France's beauty of that time Bridget Bardot. However I think the BB officially stood for Berlinetta Boxer - the name of the stylist & the engine architecture. What a car! 😎
Tiff explained why the legend is that the official name of Berlinetta Boxer might not be true - it's neither a Berlinetta body nor a boxer engine
“Work done to the chassis…” I should hope so, perhaps someone welded it properly as they don’t really bother in the factory ☹️
❤
Let me just get my checkbook.
Just echoing all the other comments here about how Koenig was great at ruining beautiful cars 😕
Looks cool but an unmodded version would have looked better and classier!
Ok Boomer
who is tef nidel?
I love the English.
Shocking lol
Looks like a MaxPower Ferrari 🤣
Looks like a kit car
is the front bumper driving anyone else nuts or is that just me, as I swear it looks like its out of shape, and I'm not trying to knock the car or the people, but did they just build it that way way back when?
I vividly remember Enzo calling the Koenig cars . . . an abomination.
Ferrari moved quickly and legally forced these owners to remove the official Ferrari badge.
permanently banning a few billionaire's and Nigel Mansell. It is said that two German industrialists and an Italian magnate were permanently banned from Ferrari. The German industrialists switched their allegiance to Porshe. The Italian magnate was butt hurt as he didn't receive an allocation for the 288 and immediately after Enzo died, an F 40.
Nigel Mansell
I cannot prove this, but, Mansell was also not given a 288 GTO allocation.
Enzo, legend has it, g ave Nigel Mansell's allocation to Alain Prost.
Did Koenig's modifications at least make the car nore driveable and improve the famously scary on-limit handling? The more recent Carobu restomod wisely didn't mess with the Fioravanti styling. I wonder if this car can be shorn of the tacky add-ons while retaining the chassis improvements. The fear wheel arches might need some subtle coachwork to improve on the aerodynamics of the original car, but Koenig's aesthetic abomination is not the way to do it.
"I don't want my 512BB to look to obvious - could you make it look like an MR2?"
I prefer the original.
Wanna buy a Ferrari 512bb service history and book pack ??
My dream car from my youth! Since this one isn’t the twin turbo, or red, I can offer you about $49.95 for it….. ;)
Wow, you hit 60mph.. amazing.
All jealous driving your Mahindra
Thats an AD
Seatbelts? 🤷♂️
flat 12 indeed
not flat V12 like some numb nuts say 😄😄
It's a boxer
@@KanyeKetchup no technically it's not 😂
First
whomegalul
Just a sales video really. Body kit very dated. They were not wearing seat belts.
Standard 512 is too slow...
The logos should be removed. It is always faster with no logo.
Clearly we can all appreciate what Ferrari does... But they are some pretentious pricks when it comes to treating your car as your own. They have this opinion that your ownership is a rental agreement. Even worse if you manage to get into the FXX program.
Then he starts advertising the for sale nonsense…I’m out of here.
No money more problems 😂
Yep, another good example of Koenig's excellence in ruining a classic sports car design and turning it into a teenager's Hotweels bedroom poster of a tasteless tool for a disco dancing fool with more money than aesthetic taste.
Court order to remove badges… this is why its impossible to like ferrari as a company
Restore car to original spec. And bodywork.
Good idea. Pay a premium to get this car. Then spend a fortune removing all the koenig features so that you have a standard 512BB worth perhaps half your original purchase price. 😁
It looks horrible. Just adding bits of tat for the sake of it. Ferrari got it right the first time. The original 365/512 looks way better. Make them more reliable by all means but no need to alter those beautiful timeless looks.
Car promotion for old ignorant people. Thanks Wikipedia !!!!
I'll take the standard 512 without the ghastly body kit. How to kill a Ferrari right there.
I have a standard 512 koenig with narrow body and without the ugly rear wing but the engine with 450 HP.
You don’t know your cars
Booooo!
Totally agree although it’ll appeal to a certain collector…. With no taste :)
Someone wasn't a car enthusiast in the 80's.
Looked terrible in period some things haven't changed.
why not tell something really important? for example what koenig did with the brakes, what with the engine, what tire sizes and so on.
have myself a 77 bb koenig, but not with this ugly wide body and the wing. but 345/35-15 in the rear and 225/50-15 in the front
Sounded terrible 😕
