I really love these history nuggets, especially about obscure figures - Mary de Bohun certainly deserves some prominence despite her short life. I'm so glad to have found your channel - looking forward to your future videos :)

Wow..what a pity the Lady passed away so young. She sounds wonderful despite all the scheming and conniving in her early life.

Agh! Sounds like the human equivalent of a puppy mill.
No mention here of how she might have died. Surely disease and infection were common but with serial pregnancies like that one has to wonder. I think the mortality rate in childbirth might have been something like 20% around that time. And before modern supplementation the old saying was, "a tooth for every child." Meaning, of course, that the nutrients pregnancy draws out of the mother's body is serious business.

Years ago, I read a novel about an ancestor of Mary. She was descended from a daughter of Edward I. I don't recall the name of the book or the author, but the book also covered the early years of her ancestor's siblings. I still remember parts of it and if the story was somewhat true to history, Edward was a fairly indulgent father.

Ma'am I absolutely loved this documentary! I love history (especially anything medieval... and medieval monarchy is even better) and this seems like such a little known woman! It made my day find such a great video about an interesting woman who hasn't already had hundreds of videos made. Sometimes a subject just gets beaten to death. This was a breath of fresh air.
Id love to learn more about the woman who married these slightly lesser known kings. Especially Richard the II. What I know of him makes him sound insufferable at the very least, a full on tyrant at the most. The two wives he had must've had their hands full.
I can't wait to enjoy your next video!

So glad you enjoyed! Isabella of Valois is coming soon. My Anne of Bohemia video will be quite long, despite so little information known about her.
Richard II was volatile, to say the least, but, shockingly, he was one of the better husbands. Good Queen Anne seems to have been adored and honoured. But she must have had her hands full with such an emotionally explosive husband, no matter his devotion to her 🤣
Hope you stick around for my future videos!

I have this name in my family tree along with several other names known throughout history. One of my ancestors (Felton)was the 6th great grandfather of Anne Boleyn. The family line started in Normandy as Bertram, then branched into Mitford and Felton after 1066.

It doesn’t matter how old you are or anything else .. if you have made a commitment to a partner, then stick to it! If you don’t want to be with them any more - respect them and say so and get away from them so they can find someone to be happy with.

She didn't have a choice in the marriage and would have been extremely difficult to get an annulment or divorce. Happiness had little to do with medieval noble marriages. It was about alliances.
