It’s a blessing to have a baby registry that people actually purchase from. It takes a village for sure. Currently pregnant and sent out my baby registry out to a few nobody purchased anything which was expected since I’m always doing things alone
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, and congratulations on your pregnancy! 💕 It really does take a village, but I know that sometimes it can feel like you’re doing it all on your own. Just know that you’re already an amazing mom for putting so much thought into preparing for your baby. Sending lots of love and support your way-you’ve got this, and you’re not alone! 💛
1. The caddy is really nice for parents with mobility issues, surgeries, or chronic illness. I used mine after a surgery and carried it from my bedside to the couch to have all the things I needed in one place while I was home alone with my baby. 2. Love the Graco slim fit car seat. It is so easy to adjust as they grow! We were gifted a secondhand travel set which we used in my husband’s car and I just keep the graco one in mine since I put him in a baby bjorn carrier instead of a stroller when we went places while he was small. 3. The Angel care bath support works for sitting babies if you flip it over! Or you can put a laundry basket in the tub. 4. Sadly We did not use the wraps or slings because he had torticollis and that would have made it worse. The baby bjorn was what worked best for us, and easier to put on. 5. We got an electric nose suctioner. It worked better and gentler than the nose Frieda. 6. There are a lot of things on your list that I would wait to buy as needed like pacifiers, gripe water, extra bottles, a swing… most registries will give you a long enough window to add it later and still get a discount… save your gift cards if there are a few. You can also get a lot of the furniture secondhand. Buy new or research for the important stuff like mattresses and car seats. 7. We didn’t get any baby jumpers, exersaucers, or seats because they aren’t good for development. We did get a bouncer/lounger for when we needed to put him upright and have our hands free.
Watching your video and just wanted to note that you don’t need a subscription to use the Hatch Rest. I don’t have a subscription and use it every night as a sound machine + nightlight with an automated routine. You only need a subscription for the “premium” features, but the basic features are more than enough. Also, you can easily reset the wifi network in the app settings. I’ve had to do it twice already because we had changes to our home wifi. Just wanted to let you know so that you can use it for travel! This is all for the 2nd gen Hatch Rest by the way, I’m not sure which one you have.
That’s good to know! I feel like we had so much issue connecting it to our wifi, that it didn’t want to connect to another. Well give it a try. Thanks!!
The first Gen didn’t come with any features on the subscription that I know of, but I noticed it when setting up a second Gen for our second baby. We still use the first Gen hatch with our almost two year old. The programming features are nice, and we mainly use the presets. Some connectivity issues with the app after travel, but otherwise it’s fine.
We used receiving blankets and swaddles for burp cloths. So much better for absorption and also didn't have to change out so frequently because they are bigger!
Most people would say you don’t need it but I can attest to how much it has helped! My patience with being on my elbows and knees at bathtime has been saved.
Please be careful with the bath toys. Since it’s hard to rinse them out, they collect water and grow mold inside. Just a thought. There was a research about it, and they cut the toys 6 months after they’ve been introduced to the babies - they were all black on the inside. Hope this helps ❤
High chair with any fabric is ridiculous. 100% agree that they need to be super easy to clean. Bottle warmer along with wipe warmer are useless. They never work properly :).
What bottle warmer have you used? The Philips Avent is incredible, warms the bottle within a few minutes. If you exclusively pump a bottle warmer is a life saver especially at the beginning when they’re eating every 2 hours.
Try Elvie Curve instead of Haakaa. It’s the same thing. I even used it while lying on the side by just turning it to be right side up and not on the side itself and the lightest, most stretchy bra was enough to keep it in place. I have both and elvie is definitely more user friendly
I had the Elvie stride for my first pump. It was alright for on the go but I needed something that was more variable to get better output. I ended up buying a Legendairy Milk Duette and I love it. I’m excited that my insurance was able to get me the MomCozy M5 wearable pumps this time for something more portable. Each one can be a different setting, so it’s the best of both the pumps I had before (still have the Duette, but that one is less portable and requires a pumping bra to use).
We had a Graco pack n play and used it as the primary place for my daughter to sleep in. We also found the quality lacking. The mattress foam wore out in less than a year. So I think a Graco is fine if you're using it just for travel, but if you're also planning on the baby sleeping on it at home, I would splurge and buy a higher quality one.
You got really nice stuff from your baby registry! I feel like my family and friends are too poor lol. I registered for basics up to 50 dollars. A lot of stuff we got second hand.
Yes, we're lucky to have a ton of family who were able to help us get what we needed. And we did end up buying a lot ourselves as well, I liked using my registry as sort of a check list! And nothing wrong with second hand! Congratulations on your baby! ❤️
Don't feel bad. I am expecting our 6th in February, and we only got new things with our first. A lot of our family are poor also. I like to shop second hand. You can find some really nice clothes and strollers and baby furniture for real cheap. Some of the things you see in these videos you can get half price or less second hand. Some things you can find new with the tags still on. Honestly there are tons of baby items you do not need. They drag you in with convenience, and you must have this. Don't get sucked into the rabbit hole of you need all these things. You don't, companies just want your money. Our kids had so many clothes that they never got to wear them all. Don't go crazy filling up you home with things that may never get worn or used just because everyone else is getting it. People say kids are expensive, but really that's only if you buy everything new and high end, or name brand. Kids don't care and our parents and grandparents never had all these things. You don't have to spend thousands of dollars.
Facebook Marketplace is full of baby items if you find you need stuff later down the road. My church does a children’s clothing exchange twice a year, so maybe you could find something like that if you need to size up! I also really like the baby secondhand consignment stores.
FTM here, been overwhelmed on how much things you “need to buy.” Is your baby sleeping in the same room? I am looking to get a mini crib unsure about the bassinet since she would just be a few steps away still. The first month I’ll be at my mother in laws and she has a bassinet there, but when I get back home I’m debating of getting my own. 😅
He’s not in our room anymore and was in a bassinet for a short while. If I was to do it again I would probably just assemble the crib in our room and then move it to the nursery at some point. But do what’s best for you! We had a crib, pack n play, and a bassinet. I don’t think that’s all necessary but I like to be over prepared and it helped me feel less anxious. And babies really don’t need much to begin with, but if it eases your stress then go for it!
Don't stress, most things you don't need. We don't use a diaper pail, formula mixer, wipe warmer, bottle warmer, fan, or high chair, or changing table. We have a portable seat with a tray that straps to a chair so we save space. We change diapers on the furniture or floor of whatever room we're in. Companies want you to feel like you need all of this stuff and you don't. Take a breath and watch more videos of moms with multiple kids. There are a lot on must haves and regrets. Everyone's preferences are different, but it does help. You don't want to buy things because you think you'll need it then never use it. I think most first time moms go crazy buying all the stuff and your just wasting money on things you don't use or really need at all. Moms have gone without these things for centuries, keep it simple. After the baby is here and you feel like you want or could use a couple items get it then.
Burp clothes are such a waste! A friend recommended the pack of gerber cloth diapers. They’re bigger & more absorbent and as the baby gets older you can keep and reuse them around the house for dusting/cleaning. Win win in my book :)
Meanwhile I didn’t leak at all from the other side (except one week after a milk blister dislodged). So my Haaka and nursing pads went completely unused. I guess it’s hard to know which you will be until you settle into it. 😅
This is so helpful!!! Just curious as another mom-to-be who knows absolutely nothing about babies... did you have any sleep sack or velcro swaddle type recommendations??
Yes! We used regular swaddles for a few weeks, but our baby was able to wiggle out so the velcro one's are much better! We loved these Halo sleep sacks for when he was a newborn amzn.to/4f0lLdB. And then transitioned to these Eray swaddles amzn.to/4cEErOy which he is still in. I loved them because you can remove the velcro part once you no longer need to swaddle their arms.
I know this wasn't directed at me, but with regard to sleep sacks, all I would recommend is have one (at least) that you can use for colder temps and one for warmer temps. I use my Kyte baby one in warmer temps and my Woolino one for colder temps. When my daughter is bigger, I plan to use th Halo for cooler temps:)
@@sarah-s9y8b That's a great suggestion! We keep our house temp very consistent so we didn't need the warmer option. But I would also suggest getting two of, each. We had a few accidents in the beginning and the dirty one didn't always make it through the was in time for bed.
I was gifted the halo ones, which are fine but a lot of steps. We like the Kea Baby easy swaddles. They are like a sleeping bag with Velcro just at the top. I found those easiest for diaper changes and stuff, and when he slept with his arms out we just secured it around his chest like a tube top. Lol.
@@sarahhemmila great idea. I have been so frustrated trying to find a good travel system but I'm not satisfied with any of them. The toddler seat seems so tiny and doesn't even recline all the way so this is a great idea!

I’m glad it was helpful! I looked at so many registries when I was pregnant, and I just wanted to share my experience with the actual products.
Same here! Super helpful video 👌🏾

First time mom here - thank you for this, it was very helpful and had some things I didn’t even think about (like a bath kneeling pad) ❤

There's a brand at walmart that comes apart so they're easy to clean ♡

Great!! I also bought prahaus wrist support on Amazon which saved my wrists! Not sure if they still have it though.
Great idea!
Mom cozy night light and sound machine! ❤️
The old school cloth nappies essentially a big hand towel but much cheaper make the best burp cloths
Good idea! We used swaddles, hand towels, and even actual towels, since our burp cloths were so small. lol
