"The lady in the lake was also Dani, and Dani wouldn't. Dani would never." This quote just shows how different is love and ownership. Peter toke Rebecca with him cause he was selfish, and possessive. But Dani would never do this to Jamie, cause she loved her too much, and she wasn't selfish.
Wow thats actually a good point. Theres a comparison between the “love story” that this show supposedly is according to the author...true love vs selfish love. That’s a conclusion I didn’t arrive to. Good catch!
This is a standard theme in every Henry James novel- the difference between possessive vs giving love
Wow i just noticed that
i cried a lot , it was so sad 😭 and to be honest henry , flora , miles obviously should had stayed in contact with Dani. Dani literally took a ghost inside her to save them and they didn't even ask her how is she or tried to meet her? This is just being selfish!
@@Ryan-hv1yd ah hello
I don't think I've ever teared up at a horror movie/show before until this moment. Then again, this is a love story.
MigsXL in my opinion, it is a ghost story that teaches how love is the strongest weapon of all.
Mark Flanagan said in an interview how a primal need like love can also lead to the darkest of human nature and how love and fear are indistinguishable from each other. The Haunting series is truly one to watch out for, portraying things like guilt, regret, trauma etc haunt us like ghosts and exist just out of sight.
If you haven’t seen Hill House yet I couldn’t recommend it enough!
@PAbcentral this showed that memories are the real ghosts. When being tucked away they revisited some of their worst memories
Legit the only other time I teared up besides this was the end of haunting of hill house. These shows are amazing in every way
@Terminator Waifu News It does not "teach" anything like that okay but I guess your illiterate ass wouldn't understand that. She never loved her husband, just liked him as a friend. Also he wasn't her husband yet, he was her fiance. You'd rather a girl would spend her whole life with someone whom she doesn't love and being forced to hide her true identity just to satisfy the needs of her friend? Get your facts straight. Also, where in the blue fuck does The Boys also show that? Any show with gay/lesbian relationships is not like that ok. You're the kind of guy who would prefer a person to remain in a toxic relationship just so they could "have babies and preserve their culture".
This ending felt so perfect! The feeling of sad and content merged together.
I have a love hate for the ending but respect it fully this was the true definition of a bittersweet ending
It was...perfectly splendid.
Its amazing how they created characters that we didn't know we attached to until it was too late. We got to know them as if real people
That’s exactly what I said.
I have a personal connection to this song. This scene started to play out and I immediately knew what was happening and I of course started crying.
This was perfect!
Definitely one of the best endings of any show I've ever seen.
"You said it was a ghost story. It isn't. It's a love story."
Sometimes, they are the same thing
Flora😢😢😢😢
i cried a lot , it was so sad 😭 and to be honest henry , flora , miles obviously should had stayed in contact with Dani. Dani literally took a ghost inside her to save them and they didn't even ask her how is she or tried to meet her? This is just being selfish!
@@Ryan-hv1yd Henry yes, but Flora and Miles didn’t have many memories of Bly Manor after Dani took in Viola’s ghost. Meaning, they’d also forget Dani. They both forgot Hannah, as Owen said about the photo in the restaurant. They both more than likely forgot Dani too
“Same thing, really”
I'm happy that Henry finally had the father-daughter relationship she hoped with Flora in the end.
I completely forget that he was her dad! Woah that's so beautiful!!
It’s even better when his brother told him how he will never be in her life and will ask him to walk her down the aisle 😭
@@Markbalancio OH YEAH. WHY DID I FORGET ALL OF THIS.
@@Markbalancio I remembered that at the very end and I’m like damn so he got to be her father after all.
It's sad how Flora and Miles forgot about everyone in the Bly Manor, including Dani, Jamie, Hannah, probably Owen. When the bride told Jamie that her middle name is Flora, I was screaming internally
In Hill House, a mother is corrupted by the house through her desperate desire to protect her children. In the end, she manages to let go, and her husband sacrifices himself to the house so that their surviving children can escape and live their lives for the better.
In Bly Manor, a woman loves a little girl so much that she sacrifices herself to a faceless ghost in order to save her. Then, many years later, she willingly succumbs to the beast of the jungle in order to protect her lover. And, possibly, manages to regain enough control to return to her many years after that.
In both stories, love proves to be the strongest weapon.
you mean return as in hand on Jamie's shoulder it was sad Jamie didn't know Dani was there
simple girl maybe not yet.
Who knows, maybe in her dreams she does. Uhhh, So sentimental. Lol
Beautifully put. Hill House’s overarching ghost was childhood trauma and Bly Manor’s was guilt and regret.
I think maybe Dani is always there. She just don’t let herself be known. It is not exactly a health relationship, to live your life waiting for a ghost
therapist: "a scene can't hurt you."
the scene:
No matter what you keep finding something to fight for
This ending made me feel so sad yet satisfied. Those types of endings make me feel so empty in a way that I love.
same! It's like a bittersweet that leaves you empty but full
I actually enjoyed it.
Yes, I have my girlfriend but, I don't know if I'm loving her in the right way, but I do know thar I want to be with her, for as long as I live
you explained that PERFECTLY oh my gosh!! I've been feeling the same way
Im crying million times
It's a bittersweet ending. Although the siblings don't particularly remember Dani's sacrifice, IN A WAY they'll still know that it happened although in the form of a spooky ghost story.
Edit: had to re edit the way I phrased this initial comment as people didn't seem to understand what I was trying to say
they don't remember her sacrifice sadly
@@Ryan-hv1yd No but they did in the end. Although they'll remember it as a ghost story that could have or not have happened.
@@carlosmanaog1904dude they didn't even in the end!! when did flora miles or even Henry mentioned about dani?🤔
this is what the sad part is
All there memories of bly manor went away. They only remember they live there. So in the end they don’t realize it was them in the story.
I LOVED this season. It's so beautiful and heartbreaking. Plus as a gay woman this is exactly the kind of representation I wish to see in media. Their story is not about their sexuality, it's about love and that's it. You don't get weird comments or looks, no forced coming out, no sexualization, it's all sweet and tender and real until it isn't. We need more of this.
There is no a concept of "coming out" here, because Dani just realised that she's into girls, and it should have been hard back in those times, even when Dani proposed and said "I knowwe can't practically get married but I also don't really care", but the series didn't show it in that way, which, is good.
Ok no I don’t believe in pushing your propaganda for everyone to accept something they don’t agree with
@@jinxthesweet2837 bitch shut the fuck up its not propaganda
@@jinxthesweet2837 Lmao nobody pushed this onto you, tf
@@toadelf6249 it is, and the fact you called me a bitch to respond to someone proves your immaturity and your behavior towards strangers is very rude. I’d recommend getting a therapist?
This honestly has to be one of the most powerful endings to a show I’ve ever seen. This scene was undeniably emotional, but it is even more emotional when you realize people go through this. Someday... you might even go through this. Grieving a loved one may have already happened to you, you might still be grieving. Just know this... Dani’s ghost visiting Jamie was symbolic of our lost loved ones. They may not be physically there, but in our hearts and souls, they are still with us. Comforting us and watching over us, forever and ever. And someday, when you die... you will be able to see them again. Love never fails.
Not might...we WILL all eventually go through this. That is the curse of living, it all ends eventually.
@@UndercoverCracker Exactly. Which gives it so much more meaning too.
"Dead doesn't mean gone"
Thank you for saying this. Thank you so much
this just made me cry
WAIT IS THAT DANI’S HAND IN THE VERY END ON JAMIE’S SHOULDER?? i was too busy crying to notice the first time and now im crying again bYE
The actor that played Peter revealed that when they were shown the storyboard of this scene, they were told that ever since Dani had died, she had always been beside Jamie. If that doesn't make you cry, idk what will
Mofasser Arafat then the ghost of Dani didn’t forget Jamie the way she thinks. She didn’t end up empty like Viola 🥺
@@lj3353 No she did not. Also unlike Viola she never killed anyone while she was the Lady so basically ending the curse of Bly. But it takes some time to "end up empty" so who knows maybe after a couple at centuries she may become just that. But the Important thing is that while she knows who she is, she is with Jamie always and will love her literally for eternity
Mofasser Arafat if Dani had always been beside Jamie and she couldn’t see it, does that mean that when Jamie said Dani’s memories fade away, it was just an assumption? Otherwise how could Jamie know that her memories fade away? The only way Jamie knows if her memories fade away is if she actually somehow can communicates to Dani and Dani probably doesn’t respond anymore. But then if they could communicate, wouldn’t Jamie know she’s been there all along?
@@stellahendrawan1126 ok this is getting confusing 😅😅
I bawled my eyes out this entire episode. Yes it's different from hill house but it's spectacular in it's own way.
ikr but ppl are complaining and comparing it to Hill House. I personally loved both
@@arafat9828 same here❤️
Perfectly splendid!
Personally, I found the series to be a bit dragged out. The ending was beautiful though. I have only ever cried at:
•The Office
•Parks and Recreation
And now this...
@@renameagain5808 Yeah I think that was the main problem. I genuinely believe that if Flanagan directed all the episodes then we could've probably gotten something as good as Hill House in quality. If you think about it, the majority of the first half of Hill House was also dragged out consisting mostly of flashbacks. But it was the great direction that engaged us in the story
The fact that even after all these years Jamie is still in love with Dani and still waits for her literally freaking hurts ... I literally couldn't cry more during this entire episode
Same with Owen and Hannah. I'm told and I believe, that he loves her still.
What's even better is the fact that Dani does come visit her but never let her see her so she doesn't dwell more over her loss and do something about it that could be risky
Dani spent her entire life avoiding reflections and Jamie will spend the rest of her life looking into hers.

Agreed! There doesn’t need to be a comparison, they’re both equally brilliant in their own right and have the same thread running through them both

@@Ryan-hv1yd did you not see the part where flora and miles memories were erased? And you don't know if Henry kept in contact or not because there was a time skip. Plus flora saved Danny 3 times from the lady of the lake. Locking her in the closet, distracting her by saying how scared she was, and she also kept Danny from getting choked to death
@@2ibesmanicanbe Again you proved my point that they were selfish😀 because it wasn't dani's fault..She didn't know about the lady of lake, she would had left the place with kids eventually in the morning if the kids had told the truth to her about the lady of lake but they kept it a secret from dani! Risked her life. Btw it was shown in the show that they never contacted dani which is so selfish
I'm a grown-ass man and this had me sobbing like a baby. This man knows how to deliver a heartfelt ending!
My heart physically hurts after watching this show.
same. it was so sad💔
Still hurting, man...
I felt kinda incomplete after watching this
Same
I think "Bly Manor" is much better than Hill House. Its meaning of horror is different but more haunting than the hill house.. It explores grief, death and guilt in such a beautiful way which is much more thought provoking than a 2 second jump scare.
I felt like the dialogue and acting was more natural in Bly Manor than Hill House, too. I'm not saying the Hill House acting wasn't good, just it reeked of theatricality much of the time. The characters in Bly Manor just actually talked more normally to each other, imo.
The stories are different though, I don’t think it’s comparable.
I'd say only the last 2 eps of bly manor was worth it. Including my ugly crying in the last episode. But other than that, it's nothing close to Hill House. Hill House, I'd don't think any other season can come close to that
Hillhouse was far better than Bly Manor imo. I don't even remember jump scares, so that doesn't factor into my opinion. I didn't hate bly, don't get me wrong, I thought it was decent, but Hillhouse was much better paced, and the characters were much better. Honestly Peter Quint was the only really strong character of this season. The rest were just fine, whereas the crane's were all memorable for me and their relationships and broken family reconnecting dynamic worked much better for me
lets not compare them because i cried a lot in both.. First one was really depressing like bly
This ending was honestly so beautiful and bittersweet. What a perfect ending to this show
I agree. I think people who get hung up on it being sad miss the message of the show which is how love remains with us and it is up to us to remember it how we need to.
People who didn’t like the ending or didn’t like the show because it wasn’t scary enough are the type of people that had to sound out words when the teacher called on them to read.
exactly. as flora said, it isn’t a ghost story, it’s a love story. it’s really not that hard to understand the true message in this show.
Serrio!
Kinda depends tbh - I liked it as I viewed it as a Ghost story / Love story NOT a horror movie. If you view it as a horror movie and that's what you expect then you will be very disappointed. It shouldn't really be labeled as a horror movie as it isn't at all - it's a love story with ghosts in it. So some blame is on IMDB, Netflix etc re their descriptions if we are being fair. Reminds me a bit of 'The Village' people were annoyed with that film as well ( I loved it) as the trailer made it seem like a standard horror movie when it wasn't at all - it was, yet again, a film about love.
the real horror of the series is love and its uncertainties. the butler dragged the teacher to her grave just to be with her. the storyteller found her love and yet she lost her. the scariest thing in life is the uncertainties. love before its too late. dont be like the maid. she fell through the well without telling her feelings to the chef
@@rkai0206 the problem is it was advertised as a horror. That's what people was interested in. U can't be mad at people for their taste
Even after all those years, Jamie never stopped loving Dani. The way she'd hold out hope that she'd come back one day... Heartbreaking but a love story indeed.
She never left :( ❤
This ending is very sad... They deserved better.
true way better, it was so sad 😭 tbh henry , flora , miles obviously should had stayed in contact with Dani. Dani literally took a ghost inside her to save them and they didn't even ask her how is she or tried to meet her? This is just being selfish!

@@brookespencer6688 same here😪
I thought it was beautiful. Horror is about exploring the mind - our pain, our fear, our trauma. Grief and sacrifice are part of life but love remains. It is sad but that’s okay :)
It hurt because thats life. When flora said she's afraid of living without the love of her life hit hard. Just enjoy the moment 😭😭
I’m a grown ass man and this shit had me sobbing wtf
You’re not alone.
😭😭😭
I cried like a bitch in this scene omg 😭😭😭 I have never been so sad at horror movies/series except Hill House and Bly Manor.
As Jamie said the kids didnt remember much. I think when Henry moved them out of Bly Manor he maybe changed their names too. Kept floras name as her middle name which is why she says its her middle name. Henry wanted to keep them safe and forget what they went through. Jamie didnt forget, but then how could she💙
I think Jamie purposefully changed the names while telling the story. This is because there is no place called Bly as said by her
@@arafat9828 oh do you think she changed all names when telling the story so they wouldnt realise
@@lisaporter5063 The cook, the gardener, and the uncle still remembered the incident. the manor is real and all the things that happened in the story, only that the gardener changed the names of all the characters and the name of the manor (Bly manor is not the real name and possibly all the workers' and the uncle's names as well) because as stated after the storytelling, the name Bly Manor does not exist, but the manor is real. She had to change that because flora and miles forgot about those things that happened when they were kids, they only know that they used to live in that manor. the gardener does not feel the need to let the kids remember all the trauma that happened because that memory is better off forgotten

They had a beautiful relationship, Dani and Jamie. A once in a life time type. Just brilliant!
The fact that she is still in love with Dani. I-
Honestly props to Carla Gugino, I honesty thought she was just bad at doing the British accent but it was a clue all along😂
Another beautifully developed season, The Haunting series is really becoming one of the top contenders in tv shows!
What was the clue I'm confused
I’m from the UK and we typical have a more southern or northern accent, and I noticed she had an overall southern accent but with a slight northern twang to it so I just thought she was bad at doing the British accent. But obviously in the end it turned out she was Jamie who had a strong northern accent. She probably moved up south and her accent had changed but she still had a northern twang
@@chezlolxo yeah I noticed that too! She tried to sightly emulate younger Jamie's accent, without giving away who she was. Very cool.
I Heard a Rumor I feel like it played to their advantage with Carla Gugino being American and playing Liv who’s American in Hill House as a sort of scapegoat for what sounded like a bad accent without making me think it could be a clue
I truly thought nothing of it just that she was an American trying to do a British accent. Which funnily enough plays to how well of an accent she actually did
@@IHARumor is your name based off of Umbrella Academy?
I've watched this entire series 3 times, and it wasn't till last night that my dumb ass noticed Dani's hand resting on Jamie's shoulder at the end.
This ending destroys me completely. Was so beautiful, sad, tragic and about real love.
Oh my gosh, the hand on her shoulder at the end! 😭 Dani probably came to her side every night that Jamie stayed at Bly for the wedding. Only she wouldn’t show herself knowing that it wouldn’t be what Jamie really needed.
This ending was so emotional.... It made me feel so many different things: Happiness for the survivors, sadness for Dani and Hannah, Sympathy for Jamie and empathy for Rebecca and Peter.... This was such an unusual show.... I loved Hill House and I loved Bly Manor.... I can understand why people are saying that this season was boring because there aren't enough scares, but I think they're missing the point entirely, It was a show about a love story set in a haunted house... The show was about emotions with ghosts set as a backdrop.... I can't wait for the 3rd season, I hope they won't make us wait too long for it....
Perfectly splendid explanation! 😊
This was by far the saddest endings I've ever seen. I love Mike's work. It's great. But this ending just hits so hard
It was so heartbreakingly beautiful 😭
That man looks nothing like Owen i cant believe he was casted.
I was confused as well, why does he looked a lot younger in time?
None of those characters really look like their younger counterparts, and Jamie apparently went from Amelia Eve to Carla Gugino in less than ten years.
My guess would be that the storyteller took some creative liberties with not only the story (calling it Bly Manor, taking the bride’s middle name, etc.) but also the look of the characters.
I think this was intentional partly because of the creator's desires to increase representation among the cast (if you're talking about compared to the books) but I think he was casted to not look like young Owen in order to throw audiences off or else it'll be too obvious from the beginning that he was Owen and this was Jaime's story
We actually dont know if their younger counterpart are what they really looked like. The Storyteller admitted that she made up the names of the children and the manor, so it's likely she made other things up as well. For all we know, the younger gardener, cook and children looked wildly different.
Doesn't meant to reveals like that
No no stop stop stop! Stop it hurts too much! Too freaking much! It hurts. 😭😭😭
I never teared up at a horror show before until this moment.

I thought I had called out all the twists before I seen them but my jaw dropped in these last 2 minutes, I don't know why I didn't see it.
The way I cried in the last 3 minutes of the episode. The song and the whole ending, it was heartbreaking. I felt like I was left alone and waiting just like Jamie. That’s intense writing.
If you have ever lost a loved one, this scene hits you hard. I love you dad and just for a moment I felt you next to me. Beautiful ending.

Bly Manor showed that horror thrillers don't have to be gore and cheap scares to provoke a reaction. Like Hill House, it showed love and valuing those you care about can overpower evil. Although evil meant they couldn't be together in life, Jamie will never forget Dani, and while she may not know it, Dani will forever watch over her.
Sacrificial and true selfless love. Flora's excitement and fear about marrying the man she loves so deeply is all thanks to Dani's sacrificial love. An experience many people in this world will never have.

What a tragic heart-wreckingly beautiful ending, another incredible masterpiece by Mike Flanagan
I'll be honest Bly Manor is not even half as good as Hill House but by God if this ending is not masterful
Idk man I just watched both for the first time this week and Bly Manor is absolutely the one that will stick with me forever, definitely enjoyed it more. I didn't really find either particularly scary so I guess the extra romantic layer of Bly just made it stand out more to me
It's not a ghost story it's love story
I have never fallen so much in love with a series before. The emotions... the story... it was perfectly splendid.
It's not a ghost story. It's a love story.
The music brings out the emotion of the scene. Its beautiful and its been stuck on my head and only makes me feel sad and happy at the same time.
Jamie must have thought..it would be so perfect to have dani here..even if she was there beside jamie as a ghost..
American horror story wishes it could be this good
I cried my eyes out in this last scene. After all those years she is still waiting for her without any evidence she is "there". I lost it when I saw the hand at the end. How sad, both are completely alone, but remain in each other's memory. This was in fact a love story about grieving and remaining in loops fighting our memories. Brilliantly sad.
Somehow getting the reassurance that your loved ones are waiting for you on the other side..makes death feel like such a beautiful thing..you know..like you just have to be without them for a few more years..and then you will be together again..time flies anyways..

*The depressed Night*
First of all, i'm a cop in my state.. The first time i watched this movie was around one and half months back one night when i was on night shift.. It was in the lounge in the Police station in our free time, i was watching with two of my senior officers and 3 other subordinates.. We were all crying, i mean our tears rolled down.. We still call that night "Depressed night"till today.. The whole atmosphere and our mood was like a very dark night... We don't even talked to each other that night.... Right now its 2:45am... I got a phonecall about 2 hours ago and it was one of my Senior officer whome i watch this movie with... I thought its gona be some bad news or about bad incidents or some other other Cop's thing... He told me "I've watched the whole episodes of 'Hauntung of bly manor' again".... I replied "So what? Is that worth calling me at this time?" .. He said "Watch the last episode right now, make sure you watch it, watch the ending very carefully..... At the very end watch Jamie's (The story teller) shoulder" .... I got up, turned on my TV, enter netflix and watched the last episode... I'm happy and feel relieved now......😊😊😊😊😊
I will remember this love story in years to come. It’ll be sprinkled through my life in little moments... like rain... or confetti.

I think this is the best ending I have ever seen…
Man this scene , I cried like a baby and I felt empty... dani loves jamie thats just it.
If this series proves anything, it's that love = sacrifice.
I mean its a crime to compare both seasons! I loved this season (a bit slow till 4th episodes) I still like 1st more because it was more horror and family drama in general and this one is more classified as a Thriller/Love story rather than Horror! I wish they had made some statements about it being not in Horror genre since its clearly not, half the episodes were like unwinding the history behind each mystery its more like a mystery/thriller to me... In this context this season is great too....I loved both but with different perspectives 🌹 This one has a great ending too
I stg I’ve watched this show 10000 times. It’s my comfort fr. I just love them so much
Today I've finished watching the final episode.
No doubt it is a love story . Different types of Love.. but selflessness will always remain epitome of Loving someone and Danielle shows that.
But not everyone is that much strong like Jamie.. living your life (hoping to meet her love) when you know the love of your life sacrifices herself just to keep you safe. ❤️

Man, I didn't knew this story would hit me up this hard, I fully felt their connection and love through this last episoade, fked me up a bit.
Watching it again! Can’t believe how the last episode flows back into the first🤯
I've spent 80% of the final episode sobbing af. It may not have the scares and style of Hill House but damn what an emotional journey it was
I don't mean to be this person but why is the casting of older miles and flora so awkward
Hahhaha exactly Flora looks so Indian especially when dancing with Henry hahahha and dont even start me with that Owen casting 😠😠😠😠
ItsAshlistic ♛ The person dancing with Henry wasn’t Flora. If you watched the episode, the bride said that her MIDDLE NAME was Flora.
@@jaegerthedane3245 it WAS FLORA....in the end when the Gardener is looking at all of them, they were shown how we "viewers" remember them as and it showed Henry and little flora dancing together so I am pretty sure it was Henry and grown up Flora (more like Indian) dancing
@@jaegerthedane3245 see 0:29 and then the few seconds before it
Jaeger The Dane um its flora
Can't understand how others hate this follow-up series to The Haunting of Hill House. Just came back to watch this scene again because I miss it. This is one of the most beautifully written series that I have ever watched. The ending is chef's kiss, evoking the same emotion even after years of watching it. It is such a bittersweet conclusion to a great love story. The Haunting of Bly Manor is a modern masterpiece in gothic romance adaptation.
Reading the comments, I'm glad I wasn't alone with bawling my eyes out at the ending. I felt stupid because it was suppose to be a ghost story but it broke my heart at the end when it somehow became a love story
I’m so confused with the timeline honestly. It was set in 1987 and the wedding was in 2007? So that’s a 20 year difference so why did all of the cast look waaaay older. Like I’d say Jamie was in her 20s at Bly but at the wedding she had grey hair. Who has grey hair in their 40s???
