Time to eradicate all this fast slow rapid ultra rapid or whatever nonsense and go for numbers..A 7K charger a 50K charger a 250K charger etc.
no what they need to do is better explain how long it will take to charge your car depending on the charge current and people would stop using 7kw at public places because they are pointless
I dunno, people are pretty stupid 🤷🏻♂️
I still cant beleive how much the germans have really messed up with there current EV models, terribly heavy overpriced monstrosities that havent got a hope in hell in competing in a global market. Its no wonder they are crying out for tariffs until they can catch up.
See plenty of BMW i4s on the road, probably second to the Tesla Model 3…….love my i4, still feels like a proper well built quality car, not a cheap Chinese banger.
I also have an i4, much better build quality than a tesla and still handles like a bmw should.
I think you will find ICE sales are rising in US & Australia
Cheers Dave
Hi Dave, I think you are doing a great job on the EV news. We have a friend who works for a company which is responsible turning on and off the national grid. As you know the UK national grid is struggling to handle current needs, are all the current wind farms on land and off shore fully connected. UK major manufacturers who need massive amounts of electricity are suffering with supply and the cost of electricity these hand are tied. Yes we all know it’s down to the government to take a firm stand, but when a government wastes our money on a white elephant of a high speed rail line, this money would have been better spent on making the UK a world leader in the EV infrastructure. Major government spending needs to have the full backing of the general public before giving money away, I like to know how many politicians made money from this latest rail scandal. Going back to our friend who has hand on national grid switch, he’s sayings the government who ever it’s is in power may restrict the amount of vehicle at any household ? Back to EV chargers being damaged , mainly by thieves stealing the charging cables for scrap value, one answer would be to covert EV chargers from a cable to a socket so a vehicles could be charged using it’s own cable. Keep up the ground breaking work. Well we are a four car household with only one EV at the moment but it will have to change. Jay in Sheffield
As a person who has visited UK many times over the decades, it seems UK nowadays is culturally and economically spiralling down into a new bottom. Is my observation wrong and unfair?
I don't believe that the "bring your own" cables are powerful enough to handle the higher power, no reason they couldn't be though, it's a good idea
@@Harrythehun yes. Very much so. It's a society divided in every way possible - it's a tactic they've taught at Eton since empire days.
The important part of all the newer "lower priced" EV's is that they can be near the £20k mark or even below.
This surprised me, an 8 month old Leaf 73 plate with 2,500 on the clock for £13,000 bargain!
Great video
Great update as usual.
I'm a non Tesla user and recently had a journey from Aberdeen to Derby return.
Decided to use the East Coast route and planned my stops based on the Tesla open to all chargers.
I took out the Tesla membership for a month, so one off charge of £8.99.
Basically saved myself £11 on charging.
Taking into account the cost of the membership I only saved about £1.60.
However, it does show there are savings to be made.
I should also mention that I took out a subscription to the Ionity Passport Power, £7 for the first month.
I did 1 charge at Skelton lakes near Leeds.
Charged at £0.43 instead of the normal £0.74 and saved my membership plus £3 in one charge.
Normally only charge at home so it was an interesting experience.
All charging was done to coincide with coffee breaks and none took more than 25 minutes.
So no issues with charging speeds at any of the chargers, Tesla or otherwise.
An no queues.
Hi Dave,
Do you have any link for the story about services centres opening to all? - doesn't seem to be in the app yet. Any update?
My Skoda Enyaq has just had a software update that includes Plug and Charge. Do you think there might be any possibility whatsoever, that Tesla will be able to sort this in my Enyaq. just as they do in my Tesla?
Do you have any specific intel on all the superchargers at service centres opening up to all? Currently, Belfast, Chelmsford, Edinburgh, Manchester, Park Royal and West Drayton are Tesla-only.
Hi Dave great news on Tesla service centre chargers open to all now. Sadly according to the Tesla app this doesn’t include Belfast UK. 😢
Very interesting. Thanks Dave. Talk about legacy car makers Ford in particular. I was at the Everything Electric/Fully Charged show at Harrogate. Oh my the lack of people at the Ford stand stood out a mile in comparison to all the other brands. Who would have thought it 10 years ago. Please catch up Ford and join us in the 21st Century. You owe it to your workers.
Your alternative is going to be like the 70s. Dinosaurs and Dino juice.
Will the price of electricity for EVs go up if most people go EV
I am confused. You said they are all open to all and then said half are open to all.
He said all the chargers in Tesla service centres are open now, not every single Supercharger
i have the powerwall app but it thinks im in the US as it asks what state and zip code im in when im trying to add my Kona
I had a similar problem trying to sign up for a non Tesla charging account - wouldn’t accept my postcode in the payment section as it said it didn’t exist in Norway but I’m in the UK! I’ve now tried deleting the account to start over again but currently get in at all!
Bad luck if you are out of charge & your telco has an outage
Happened to ChargeFox in Australia. Should have been free not locked out
You know that Simon Smith has he still got his amazing dancing bear ? 😂
I think that Alan Price took it off him. LOL 🤣
@@jameschapman4824 you have to be a certain age to know about it 🤙
Why are the EV on the move , V4 chargers branded as Tesla. Surely this will lead in some cases to Tesla drivers paying more for their charging.
Love evs, solar, have them both, but I do wish that CO2 and global warming lie didn't keep distracting from the actual problem that of pollution . Have you seen Paul Burgess's channel and interesting videos.
often ignored in corperate conversations. global warming is slowly coming but polutuon and damage to health is here now
@@geoffjolliffe6509 sorry but global warming is coming very quickly according to media, and big politics... but in reality its nothing more than a con and smoke screen to steal and distract from pollution.
The USP abut buying a Tesla was the charging network. If its just open to everyone, I see no need to restrict myself to a Tesla in future
Isn’t that the point, buy the best car for you and get access to great charging whatever you buy
maybe. but as a tesla owner it probably means I'll now have to look in to other charging networks as the tesla ones will be full due to jaguar space owners taking up 3 spaces as the tesla SC cable wont reach the charging port
😳0:34 "CCS2" ?! 🤯truly BREAKING news on this channel! 😯 6:23
ICE is melting! (In a good way of course ;-)
New Rivian is faster than Cybertruck
Simon Smith is a what? 😮 😂😂
Have you seen Be.EV prices reduced
More reasons not to buy a throw away🙄🙄🙄
Which reasons?
Don't keep telling other EV owners that they can use Tesla Superchargers. They will get a very slow speed of charge, unless they have the app, and even then its still slow. If you have not got a Tesla don't use Tesla Superchargers
Doesn’t make sense. Are you saying that Tesla slow the chargers down or non Tesla cars can’t physically charge quickly? Surely Tesla want as many people (customers) as possible charging $$$
@@brettclark3954 I was getting 186 while a P Tincan was getting 85. It was at a lower state of charge and I was 80% finished before he was halfway
Perhaps maybe a simple case of not preconditioning the battery. 🤷🏼♂️
Hello mate it's like watching a pack of cards fall down
Chademo is a better standard than CCS. However, sometimes, in life, worst things succeeds like WHS against is rival
Japanese seem a little backwards
