This is a perfect example of why we always complain about it, because these companies always go to far they always attempt to push things beyond the limit to the point where it literally affects everyone's experience. This is why microtransactions are bad it starts off where you can ignore it at first but eventually it spirals out of control due to their greed

Just for the record. Charles Barkley refuses to be in the game until 2K donates to the NBA alumni association. That helps retired NBA players who struggle financially.

2k17 was literally the year where microtransactions started to become 2ks top priority and everything in that game compare to 16 regressed. Especially when it came to the graphics and park 💀. Not saying it wasn't fun but...
My last purchased 2k was 2k19 and it was on sale. Just can't make myself buy this stuff anymore. It's all about the microtransactions which have ruined the game for me.
There was a time when NBA 2K was the absolute king. It was incredible how much the game imlroved upon and blew away the competition. Since EA bowed out they they have crumbled. Now they just exist to print money. They no longer need to innovate. There is no one out there to challenge them. Conpettion breeds excellence and it is sorely needed. EA failing was horrible for consumers. We need them in this fight. The days when 5 studios would out an NBA game were really great, its a damn shame making games has gotten so expensive and prohibitive to smaller devlopers.
I've long since given up on Sport gamers. They lack standards and even the "Influencers/Streamers" that are apart of that community don't care about the state of the game their focus is only on views and sponsorships. Massive respect towards ign for calling the greed within this game out regardless

My Career stories are so darn disappointing. Instead of telling a story of a character such as 2K16's "Living the dream", it's more so written to guilt you into feeling like you don't belong in the NBA without spending.
It's not so much the devs, it's the people they answer to who have incentive based contracts based on microtransactions...they're basically commission based bosses.
They should separate the MyCareer mode from the park making MC a skill based VC free singleplayer experience. Or at least they should allow using face scans in the MyLeague/MyNBA modes.

2K really needs to fix the body types and atmosphere of the game to feel like an actual NBA game. At points it still feels lifeless and there’s no reason Shaq should have the same body as Lebron James
I’ve always thought it to be annoying that you can’t enter a league in modern create-a-player as a bonafide next big thing like a Lebron or Crosby or Trout where you are an all star out of the gate and could conceivably fun for all time marks. It’s pretty unrealistic in that sense. Nobody wants to be average, they want to be great. Of course you always used to be able to do this, but they’ve now monetized what they know most people (especially kids) woods actually want.
