- WWE 2K24 reviewed by Jarrett Green on PlayStation 5, also available on Xbox and PC.
WWE 2K24 is clear proof that 2K and Visual Concepts have hit their stride when it comes to making today’s package better on the whole than yesterday’s. While not drastically different, there are enough new little features added to every inch of this iteration to make it well worth climbing back into the ring. Old enemies still have their number, though, such as making its docuseries Showcase mode feel good to actually play, creating a more consistent tone and pacing in MyRise, and getting more of the current day roster up to the high visual bar that’s currently only hit by its most popular superstars. But even with those lingering annoyances, WWE 2K24 puts an impressive cap on a three year run of great wrestling games.

@@dillonbanks609 no its not. There's so many additions, weapon taunts, weapon throw, brawls, new tired pin. Theres so many jump compared to 2k22. Minor jump from 2k23. Still overall way way better.
An 8! Thats almost an IGN out of 10
Something very minor but the Wrestlemania arenas don't feel grand. It doesn't feel like a sea of people when playing. The concrete walls breaking up the fans always kills the large stadium.
Exactly, they just feel like regular ppv arenas.

Couple of weird incorrect details here. The strike off mini game can be prompted by holding square on PS5 and can only be implemented once a match. Gauntlets matches are not restricted to 4 people at all, I’ve played this mode and have done 5, 6 and 10 man gauntlets.

So visual concepts adds nothing but what should've already been in there and charges you 70+ bucks for an update to 2k22. Its nba 2k series all over again.

Tbh smack down vs raw from 2006 To 2011 was like the peak of this series , everything else after 2014 just felt like updated reskins with an updated roster. The newer games though visually appealing never really captured the flare like the PS2 era games did.

The crowd design hasn't changed much since 2K15 on last gen. ( as in PS4 and Xbox One )

Online is autrocious, the game crashes when entering community creations.
The input lag, disconnects and frame rate is front and center.
Also no mention of cut content being resold as DLC? This is why IGN is a joke.

2k24 is better than 2k23.
Cons of 2k24:
- Buggy with tons of glitches (probably will be patched in the future)
- Horrendous sound track
- Lack of effort into certain characters like Bobby Lashley, Ilja Dragunov . Even Judgement Day. (generic entrances if you come out with 2 or 3 of the 4 members of the Judgement Day)
Little nuances like Kurt Angles Pyros and The fiends eyes just really grind my gears.

they gated a lot of the most famous wrestlers behind it.
Unless you get the Wrestlemania edition or the booster you have to play it to unlock wrestlers and arenas. It’s not that bad, you get to at least watch mania highlights with a commentary by Corey Graves and a few other wrestlers

@RasAzriel There is a Forty Years of Wrestlemania Bonus Pack that on the stores has all the content from digital version but in Showcase only the characters are unlocked not the arenas, you still need to go through Showcase to get them.
8 is about right.
There’s still plenty to do to improve the game.
Universe, some of the Legends models and crashing needs sorting.
Plus a lot of tweaks to options between game and universe mode.
Tim White is a missed opportunity to be a referee in this game! Even the Fink!
How are we still mentioning the 2 year hiatus after 2k20?
This game will never get over an 8 by IGN because there’s no Sandbox.

Don't forget the messy character creation, they practically gave up on the hairstyles after 15th hairstyle. Looks like it's all cardboard and playdough

That one run-in limit needs to get patched into older games 😭. I'm glad they added that it's actually going to make tag matches tons more fun especially My Faction matches (I'm assuming the AI abides by this hopefully)
They should make the goals optional in showcase. Have you play it like a normal match, but if you do the goals, it will be a nice surprise instead of annoying.

How are the reversal prompts in this one? In 2K23 they were a bit too fast/unpredictable to my liking, and at times just plain hard to see. Are they improved in 2K24?

Not worth the price, I'm enjoying playing it pirated and wouldn't give more than 20 bucks
Tip for developers: allways think where center of mass of an object is and where it is moving. If there is sharp corners at that motion then your game looks cheap and unrealistic.
Another tip: center of mass cannot move downard or any directionwith faster acceleration than 9.81m/s while you are at earth and using surface or freefall without extra propulsion to do acceleration
Haven’t bought a wrestling game in like 10 years. Hot damn these graphics look bad by modern day standards.

It's going to be difficult to do when several key players of Nitro/Monday night War are not under contract (Sting, Flair, Goldberg, Vince, etc). Right now it seems unlikely, maybe later in a few years.

It still looks like it's a PS2 game, especially the long hair assetts.
They should finally start using a newer engine and build it from the ground up, but go back to the THQ controlls like they used to be in 2009.
