- MLB The Show reviewed by Justin Koreis on PlayStation 5. Also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Hank Aaron’s motto was “Always keep swinging,” and MLB The Show 24 does just that. It continues to push the envelope for what a baseball sim can be by adding a deep respect for the history of the sport on top of its already excellent gameplay. Season 2 of the Negro leagues is off to a fantastic start, and I can’t wait for the next episode to drop. The addition of women to that and Road to The Show emphasize Sony San Diego’s commitment to the idea that baseball is for everyone. With great new features like Custom Game Entry in Franchise, and seamless integration of Major League Baseball’s latest changes, not even a lackluster Storyline and a Diamond Dynasty mode in flux can change the fact that this is a great way to play baseball.

Kind of amazing to have a ten minute review and not talk about the in-game gameplay for more than a few seconds
Unfortunately that's how video games are reviewed these days. Gameplay don't matter.
The score is an 8. 8 is also how many years they have used the same game engine.
To be fair 8 years isn't that bad considering lots of studios can't make one game in 8 years
why would they change an engine for the game? if it works, dont fix it?
Bethesda games should be getting like 18’s at this point

It’s because there is no competition. Hilarious how some look back with sentimentality thinking there was a time when companies didn’t prioritize profit over everything else. It’s been like that in America since the beginning. When you take self-interest out of the equation everything turns to $hit.
How do you not bring up the lack of graphics improvements in the entire review?! Its been years since there has been a significant upgrade
Yeah it's insane. "it looks great and lifelike". We're halfway into the PS5 lifecycle and it looks like a damn PS3 game with a lot of tech and animations still rooted in the PS2 versions.
Also, it's just better to have the lowest expectations for IGN. Especially when it comes to baseball and nuance.
How much more can they improve tho? Not asking this as a slight towards you just genuinely wanting to know.

Typically, the reviewer/narrator are different than whoever’s editing the video.

RTTS update is amazing. So deep and immersive. So different from RTTS 2019. So much more than a roster update. Awesome!
The best part is you can play franchise with all teams at the same time, including fantasy draft

He literally proposed using Ichiro instead. He doesn't hate the Yankees, he just thinks Jeter was a weird choice.
@@personhi1011 why would an ichiro storyline be anything he did in his time with the Yankees? It was pretty forgetful. He referred to him being the first Japanese players which would probably only be with the Mariners (the team he spent like 14 years with)
“A better story to tell”. Jeter was on his 5th year when he won three World Series in row sounds like better epic story and last team to 3-peat
Jeter won the World Series 4 of his first 5 years in the league including three straight (1998-2000). Would have been 5 out of 6 and 4 straight World Series wins if Rivera hadn’t blown a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 9th in game 7 of the 2001 World Series.
MLB 2K had a better "Road to the Show" years ago. The Show needs legitimate competition. We need another baseball simulator.
You can tell they are still using the same assets they did back 09. The player models look exactly the same.

You missed the part where it crashes every time you try to play a diamond dynasty game and SDS has completely ignored all users on the platform.

Yea this what happen when the company on cruise control still no headbands in edit or create player still no jewelry on outside and being able to wear more than 1 still no high ankle pants uniforms needs revamped it looks all the same still didn’t put MVP baseball best feature to argue calls and get thrown out just not a real authentic baseball experience my opinion

the batting sounds this year are worse, and in consistent ... a chopping ground ball up the middle not sounding like it should sound and instead sound like flush barrel sound , in 23 it has better batting sounds.

You have the option of selecting the team or not.
You can choose a team or let them choose for you.

Downloaded off game pass and every couple games it crashes out of the game and sends you back to the xbox home screen. So far, the games not enjoyable at all. Also, it's the same as every other game they've made.

"Journalism". It does not matter if the editor is not the same person as the writer or editor. It is not that hard to look up, see the wrong name on the jersey, and ask for gameplay of the correct person mentioned. Just take out the line if you can't do that. This is just lazy and weird. Surely you didn't think "Oh this is an Asian player that seems popular, so must be who he's talking about!" Right?
