ALWAYS loved this song. The chorus is incredible and would make anyone cry - not just Emmylou. But completely understanding why EH is in tears. 😢 It's so perfect. Thanks Fil, for taking on this one and the guitar demo.
The brushes on the drums are the train tracks moving and driving it. The steel is huge here also but it is the guitar which is the primary

Music transcends countries. Swedish country music singers. I used to love to dance the Swedish Hambo when I was young and I've never been to Sweden. Love the Hambo dance and music. Why not? If you feel it, love it and want to express it in song then it's yours to play and sing. They are awesome. Thank you so much FIl!!

Wow! The whole song is one flowing peace of art! And I love how the sister's voices fit together, both singing the same notes or as slightly different melodies. Just like the girls of ABBA did in their days... And I love the Pedalsteel in this track!

There IS so much going on with the dynamics , as you stated, I understand about that acoustic guitar, my daughter played acoustic, and I have a vintage Fender Acoustic. ....; I just love this song, and them paying tribute to Miss Emmy Lou, with her being right there, it's just wonderful. . .. and Miss Emmy Lous' reaction is heartwarming, how it affected her . . .

Thank you, fil for illuminating me on the talents and intricacies of playing this song and performing it for Emmylou Harris who it is written for, in a way. It’s a wonderful tribute to her and her love with Gram Parsons, who unfortunately passed away in an untimely way. I love country music. It has such integrity, always reaching for real emotions and experiences, vulnerability, and sweetness. The musicianship is another thing about country music. These people are musicians. They learn an instrument as well as learning how to sing. You see the musicianship here. They’re not doing the fake alterations you see in pop music. Lastly, I just want to mention that when Graham died so suddenly, Linda Ronstadt invited Emmylou to move in with her and they became fast friends ever since and have sung together beautifully many times

Absolutely , Emmylou is legendary in multiple genres !
But Ricky Skaggs was already well know in Bluegrass from a young age , having played with Bill Monroe at 8yo . At one of my most memorable concerts in 1979 , Ricky Skaggs performed twice ; as a member of Buck White & the Downhome folks , and then with Emmylou .

Glad you have done this analogy of First Aid Kit. I suggested them some years back. I like to renew my request to review the 1957 CBS broadcast of Billie Holiday performing Fine and Mellow with a line up of the jazz great. If you do this one then select the one with a short introduction by Mike Wallace. Thanks. :)

I’m a 60’s and 70’s kind of guy and I struggle with music today as it very rarely has any emotional effect on me but these two girls are right up there in every way and only proves to me there are a lot of good musicians and songwriters out there today but unfortunately very few really great ones.

There are only ever a few really great ones every generation. FAK's generation is no different. Neither will be the one that comes after them. Or the one after that. If anyone could do it it wouldn't be special, would it?

Make me an angel who flies from Montgomery. John Prine wrote but their duet made it Emmy Lou's. Her old man was Gram Parsons. You could write a book on him from getting tossed out of Keith and Anita's house for being too stoned. (How stoned do you have to be to get kicked out of Keith Richards' place?) To saving country music by influencing groups like the Stones to do Sweet Virginia for example. She is one of the prime forces behind Hardly, Stickley, Bluegrass held annually in Golden Gate Park with three days and seven stages and free admission. This draws 120,000 every year. I, like many, consider her a saint.

My daughter's boyfriend plays the guitar and sings and we had a private concert at Christmas dinner. He played Roadhouse Blues and was trying to sing like Jim. I was able to tell him to use chest voice, thanks to Fil's videos. He was too shy to practice in front of us, but he really sounds close.
