    They've made Emmylou cry, Patti Smith cry, and Paul Simon cry, all at the Polar Prize ceremony

      Paul Simon didn't cry. He is too much of a curmudgeon to shed a tear.

    My favourite of theirs is probably "My Silver Lining", but I also enjoy "The Lions Roar", "Wolf", "Rebel Heart" and "To a Poet" so I hope you check some of them out, because there truly are too few reactions out there :)

    Love First Aid Kit. There is a video of them playing this in front of Emmylou and they brought her to tears. Other songs to check out are The lion's roar, Angel and My silver lining. Two other bands with sisters you might enjoy are Larkin Poe and The Wolff Sisters.

    My sister introduced me to First Aid Kit when she found out I liked Aurora. A little thought, but it seems that Sweden is producing better Country music than Nashville is these days.

      You're not wrong. Bro country is a self-parody at this point.

      @@nevaladder that's why I listen to bluegrass. I will say Sturgill Simpson can play both country and bluegrass, which is his true passion. he has a unique sound that's hard to pin down. you can definitely tell his roots remain in Kentucky, where my family is from.

    You should do the live in front of Emmy-Lou and the Swedish king etc. That is even better!

    Should have reacted to the live performance where they sang directly to Emmylou.

    If you don't know the Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris story, you should check it out. It's not a story of unrequited love - Emmylou and Gram loved each other as singing partners - it's not about a romantic relationship at all - an artistic relationship is much deeper than that and you can see it any time Emmylou talks about Gram.

    • @sea-ferring
      @sea-ferring 11 месяцев назад

      Also - the only thing that makes this sound like country is the pedal steel guitar. This is pure Americana.

      In 2011 after writing The Road as a thank you to Gram, Emmylou said she had been in love with Gram and because his marriage had ended planned to tell him the next time she saw him. But she never saw him again. Just heartbreaking.

    Good idea! Apart for being song writers/producers of top hits by american stars, swedish artists have been reaching great commercial and critical acclaim for about three decades.

    Klara and Johanna are just sublime and unfortunately they aren't as well known as they deserve to be. Their other material consists of folk and pop and they have just released another album called "Palamino". They also do fantastic covers of other artist's material. The girls cite Emmylou Harris as a great influence on their music and they sang this song for Emmylou when she was honoured at the Polar Music Awards, bringing Emmylou to tears. They also sang "America" for Paul Simon when he received the Polar award and he gave them a standing ovation. They are touring the UK at the present time and there are a few clips here on RUclips of their celestial version of "Songbird" to honour the recent passing of Christine McVie. PS Yesterday I watched a clip of them performing on the Graham Norton Show last week. One bloke commented that it was annoying when Johanna started the harmonies with Klara because it ruined the impact of Klara's voice. So, there is no accounting for people's tastes sometimes.

      Good Harvest is like First Aid Kit on steroids. Not as well know but should be. And one of the best acoustic guitarists (according to global guitar magazines) Gabriella Quevedo.

    You have heard of them before. When you reacted to Auroras "Running with the wolves",you mentioned that you are fond of wolves, and since I am too I wanted you to react to F AKs "Wolf". You answered that you would. So, of course I would like you to react to that one. Isn't it amazing that many of the most talented lyricist start writing at such a young age. Klara (the one playing the guitar) at 14 . Lyrics like in "Ghost Town", " Blue", and went on with lyrics like in "The Lion's Roar" "Stay Gold" and "Cedar Lane", and "To A Poet", My Silver Lining", +++.

    Bob. I just read Ron Harrison's comment here, and after I had watched that one, another one of their performances from the same show was suggested. They performed " Red Dirt Girl", taken from Emmylou's album by the same name. I just thought it was absolutely wonderful, and I'm intrigued to see if you manage to keep a dry eye if you react to it. Look at it as a challenge..LOL
