    The one thing I don't like with Google Drive is the ability to have permissions for a user on a sub folder, without them having access to other subfolders within that folder. I spoke to support, searched all over the net and that's just how they work. The only solution was to move the folder out, which does not work the way we work.

    Another excellent video. For me the Microsoft office apps beat out the google workspace apps while the custom email domain capabilities of google workspace beat out Microsoft. A shame that google does not offer and email only option at a reduced rate, and Microsoft offer a desktop app only plan. Unfortunately in some cases one needs both, pay full price for both but only use half the features from each. Great comparison 👊🏻👊🏻

    • @TheTWSChannel
      @TheTWSChannel  3 года назад +2

      Thanks again AJ! I guess you could always purchase the one time offline office apps and use Google Workspace for the cloud!
      If you're okay with losing out on the cloud features on MS that is.

      @@TheTWSChannel Unfortunately that only works if you have 1 user and 1 device. Oh well, unfortunately its the way subscription models work now. Kind of like the old way of cable tv. Pay for the service, but also pay for channels you do not want to watch, lol.

    Hi. Awesome video. Thanks a lot for putting it together.
    I have a few questions though.
    I work at a non profit and we use Google Workspace for Non-profits but we also use Microsoft desktop apps (The office standard license) through a discount/donation program. If we switch to M365 business basic (which is free for non-profits) would we be able to sign into the desktop apps that we already use? Also want to be clear about what you mentioned regarding the outlook desktop app and business basic - so users won't be able to use the outlook desktop app even though we have a separate office standard license for it?
    The next one was about OneDrive with Business basic. Would we be able to use it on desktop? (Like you use dropbox for eg)
    Third is regarding signing into windows machines. If we switch to Business Basic would we be able to use our accounts to sign into these machines . If so what is the advantage of doing so for a Business Basic account over say just a regular local non-AD account (I understand that the Business premium subscription gives you a whole host of endpoint management features)
    Would appreciate any feedback. And I can attest to Google's support team as being excellent. They have been helpful, understanding and knowledgeable everytime I've contacted them.

    I'm a small one man design firm, and I'm looking for an email/file hosting solution. I'm trending toward MS, since I already have the desktop apps purchased outright. Would you recommend any other email services for a small business that have 25GB email size capabilities, email linked to unique business domain, and a simple cloud file storage app? Or, are google workspace, and MS 365 really the only two that provide, email and file storage all in one? The teams desktop app I have is essentially free to use right? Or do I have limits on it. any thoughts would be great!

    • @TheTWSChannel
      @TheTWSChannel  3 года назад +1

      Hi, yes! You're able to assign aliases in Microsoft 365 as well. An alias is basically a secondary mail address - if jack@xyz.com wants the mail going to the address jack_s@xyz.com to be recieved at jack@xyz.com, then he'd set jack_s@xyz.com as his alias.
      This way the user will not have to alternate between the two mail addresses and continue the use of his primary. There are many uses for aliases, but this is one example. Hope it helped!

    I think regional data storage is important if you deal with clients (like governments at all levels) that require it. AFAIK Office 365 gives you this option with the lowest levels of licensing while Workspaces not so much. Also, I think MS has better regional data centre location. For example, Office 365 has Canadian data centres while Workspaces has none in Canada.
