    Hi Ash
    I’ve just got into exterior cleaning business and all set up with the right equipment from spinaclean so I’ve full confidence in the products I’m using so I thought I would be good idea to practice on my bungalow roof today and found the moss removal quit difficult not sure if it’s because it’s very damp at the moment but it just seemed to really clingy to the concrete tiles and although the bulk is coming off there is still lots of scruffy bits left behind which looks unsightly so it best to scrape when it’s more drier and crispier ? Im applying algoclear pro when I’ve finished also using the elite poles with the sky scraper.
    Thanks Ash 👍

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  3 года назад +1

      It seems strange but some moss is more stubborn than others, and some tiles are easier to clean than others. You never really know until you actually start trying to clean it. But yeah, it can be more difficult when it’s wet and sticky too.😃👍🏼

    • @aemackintosh

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  5 лет назад

      James pryer-freeman It’s not generally a great idea to splash bleach around like that. What I like about a biocide is that it is far more longer lasting, preventing re-growth for up to 2years.😃👍🏼

    Why Scrap it off not jet it off at low pressure or high or use 10 or 14 inch whirlaway also why biocide not hypo sodium hypochlorite kill moss and much cleaner results
    It is price or am I missing something
    Thanks Anthony

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  3 года назад +1

      I used to scrape before I tried pressure washing a roof. Now I mostly pressure wash them, but I think there are still certain situations where it would be better to scrape like if the roof tiles are quite delicate. Hypo can be damaging to the felt lining under the tiles, as well as the tiles themselves. I always use biocide as it doesn’t damage the roof in any way.😃👍🏼

    Can I ask, what makes your pressure washed able to draw from the container? I have one although it requires a hose connection at the inlet. Many thanks 👍

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  4 года назад

      It has a small chemical inlet valve and a small pipe to connect to it that came with it, but it can be temperamental really. You can mix a barrel of the chemical at the right strength and let the pressure washer such that up instead of plain water. But to be honest, I prefer to use a pump system to apply chemicals these days.😃👍🏼

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  5 лет назад

      Jettaway Cleaning Services No. You could be there forever getting every last crumb of moss off. That is why I like to combine it with the biocide application. @@aemackintosh thanks for the response ash, my Honda gx390 is practically brand new. Only had it since October it’s probably done 5 cleans but I wanna low the pressure and tried reducing the revs but cuts out when it gets set too low and when I reduce the unloader I’m not seeing much reduction in the pressure

      Adjust the unloader when the machine is off and don’t use less than a bit above half revs.👍🏼

      Owen James Yeah, that’s not a bad idea for small jobs. As long as you saturate the surface you are treating thoroughly.😃👍🏼

    Hi Ash. How much biocide have you used on this one? How you calculate how much biocide do you need? Thanks:)

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  3 года назад +1

      Can’t remember now. It will depend partly on how you apply it. I started out applying it through my pressure washer, but I realise now that I used much more than I needed to. Now I use a pump system.😃👍🏼

      zcitzo 070 I have pressure washed some roofs, but I found it can be quite harsh on the tiles, possibly damage them. This is better on the roof and safer to access this way.💦😃👍🏼

    Dangerous approach on many levels. No harness on the roof. Ladder on the apex. Spraying with no hands on ladder. Jet spraying biocide and wind drift. No face mask in the drift. You teach some dangerous practices and chemicals through the pumps is not good for them. Shame really because good video otherwise.
