My only regret about Hallie being casted as Ariel is that people couldn’t get their heads out of their asses to see her talent and why she got the part. She earned it, and I am sure she did an absolutely amazing job if this song is any indication of the movie.

reasons why i think halle is perfect for the role: 1. even though she isnt a white woman like ari, she def has mermaid features. her eyes are widely spaced, it makes her look like a fish but in the most beautiful way possible. thats how i believe mermaids would look like if they were real. her nose is also a little flat which again adds upto her mermaid features. i find her facial features really unique and pretty 😍 2. her voice!!! what is ariel if she’s not a vocal goddess? and halle has just the right voice to match ariel’s siren like voice. i think halle’s version of part of your world does 100% justice to jodi benson’s version. her voice is amazing and perfect for a mermaid. 3. locs. now i know even though we don’t know how mermaids actually look like or if they even have hair, if they did, i think their hairs would be tangled in the ocean. and that would naturally create locs for them, so this is also what i believe a mermaid’s hair would look like. 4. mermaids dont have to be necessarily white. fishes in the ocean come in so many different colours, and mermaids would probably have dark blue skin to hide from human divers if they existed. halle being dark skinned is perfect to represent a mermaid according to how i imagine them. reminder: this is just my opinion and me relating halle to how i imagine mermaids to be and why i think she does not deserve hate for being casted as ariel. i rest my case

I saw this movie back in May too. And while I do agree that NOTHING can ever beat the original, this version was good and entertaining for what it is. And Halle is a wonderful and talented actress that doesn’t deserve all the hate she gets from arrogant people.

Every time I look at her face I see that innocence and look of child-like wonder. I don’t really know how to explain it. Her soft voice, her big bright eyes, her features and expressions capture the vibe of Ariel perfectly.
Can we just appreciate how respectful the audience was and allowing her to perform her heart and soul in this moment! They waited until the very end to acknowledge and thank her, no hooting or hollering during the high notes! It allows ever sec of her to be heard! She’s phenomenal!

Halle just seems like such a warm, sweet person. I felt such a comforting feeling watching her in The Little Mermaid. I’ve watched it three times now because she’s just so... I can’t even explain it. She’s just awesome. And of course her voice is enchanting.

reasons why i think halle is perfect for the role:
1. even though she isnt a white woman like ari, she def has mermaid features. her eyes are widely spaced, it makes her look like a fish but in the most beautiful way possible. thats how i believe mermaids would look like if they were real. her nose is also a little flat which again adds upto her mermaid features. i find her facial features really unique and pretty 😍
2. her voice!!! what is ariel if she’s not a vocal goddess? and halle has just the right voice to match ariel’s siren like voice. i think halle’s version of part of your world does 100% justice to jodi benson’s version. her voice is amazing and perfect for a mermaid.
3. locs. now i know even though we don’t know how mermaids actually look like or if they even have hair, if they did, i think their hairs would be tangled in the ocean. and that would naturally create locs for them, so this is also what i believe a mermaid’s hair would look like.
4. mermaids dont have to be necessarily white. fishes in the ocean come in so many different colours, and mermaids would probably have dark blue skin to hide from human divers if they existed. halle being dark skinned is perfect to represent a mermaid according to how i imagine them.
reminder: this is just my opinion and me relating halle to how i imagine mermaids to be and why i think she does not deserve hate for being casted as ariel. i rest my case

Im a 37 year old black woman who’s very first vhs movie for my 4th birthday was “The Little Mermaid”. Since that day I was OBSESSED with mermaids. So obsessed that I made a career out of mermaiding as an adult and I collect different mermaid art, books, and figurines. So it means a lot to me to see Halle playing Ariel🥰🥰🥰🥰

I knew she would eat this song but goodness the production going along perfectly with her beautiful vocals. I felt like a kid again. I didn't think Disney still had it but really they have Halle to thank. She's truly stunning.
Halle is THE perfect choice for Ariel, her talent is immaculate and all the emotions she conveys while singing are unbelievable
