Small addendum or correction, flipping a trolls club does a small amount of damage, sure, but it also stuns them. Things they normally shake off (Glacius) *works* when they're stunned. A Glacius/Diffindo combo at that point should see four digit damage.
Fantastic. Discovered some of these but was unaware of the ones that interrupt an animation and do increased damage. This should step my combat up a notch.
• Expeliarmus/Levioso, Descendo, Glacius, Diffindo (Expeliarmus variation does extra damage to targets, but Levioso variation makes the set work for dugbogs too.) • Accio, Glacius, Incendio, Confringo (Insta-kill for most targets as soon as fire hits ice at close range, and it looks amazing. The second fire spell makes this combo great for spiders and inferni. Thunderbrew is your best friend in spider/inferni swarms too, and you won’t believe how long you can stun acromantula with mandrakes and the Headache skill. Bye, Absconder!) • Expeliarmus, Flipendo, Arresto Momentum, Transfiguration (If you have these skills: Ancient Magic Throw Expertise, Blood Curse, Disarming Curse, Knockback Curse, Slowing Curse, Transformation Mastery. Hit three different targets with Expeliarmus, Flipendo, and Arresto Momentum, then transform another target into an explosive barrel and chuck it at a target. Everyone you cursed dies, along with all targets in blast range. If you’ve enchanted your gear with Control, this does significantly more damage. Flipendo makes this a good set for trolls and dugbogs.) • Disillusionment, Accio, Arresto Monentum, Glacius (From lethal height, Accio will kill most targets. Accio Mastery will take out multiple targets at once. Be prepared to grab the ledge or pull out your broom if you slip. While concealed by Disillusionment, once you’ve used Petrificus Totalus on nearby, isolated targets, use Arresto Momentum or Glacius to hold distant targets in place while you approach them and use Petrificus Totalus again, preferably with all four stealth skills. This only works until someone notices you. Once spotted, you can end a fight this way too, when one target remains and no one else can see you doing it. Using invisibility potions, this approach prevents real fights altogether, unless there’s a scripted second wave or boss entrance/scene.)
the ability to protego at the perfect time is not on here surprisingly not only sends a shockwave around you but can automatically send trolls boulders back at them without using the ancient magic throw and its quite satisfying just to see a bunch of enemies just go flying
We need more "sheets" for combo placement. I use a variation of the Dark wizard, Goblin, and Spider combo combined - but I have to at least have to HAVE two combo sheets for utilities (ROR and for catching beasts). Also, it's FUN transforming enemies into exploding barrels and launching them at their comrades as they go BOOM. it literally helps when fighting a huge-ass boss that has minions/stragglers around that you can throw back at them as bombs.
This is a fantastic help, thank you! I think having good spell combos is important for having fun with the combat, but I’ve been struggling to figure out what spells work well together.
If you got the Trait for Concentration III and put it to all your equipment slot, all your damage will be boosted not only for Damage spells but to all skill that deals damage including Petrificus Totalus and Descendo. It makes my hard mode playthrough a lot easier. You can randomly find it on enemy camp's collection chest.
Burrowing spiders can be torn apart with Flippendo too, effectively lowering your critical hit cooldown by half. (And I think Arresto momentum can do it too, but Im not 100% sure right now)
Great advise ! I like having one spell sheet with my favorite spell from each group in case I’m facing enemies with different shield colors . I wish you could preset optional sheets to load quickly , like a sheet that’s all room of requirement based . Same goes for appearances- would be cool to save a “set “ of appearances to change your look at a single click instead of going through each option.
I’m shocked he didn’t add the finalized transfiguration and ancient throw. It turns enemies (some) into a bomb. 2 for 1.. some times 5 for 1 if you catch them unsuspected in a group when you first walk up
I have 3 sets of spells for combat, one reserved for utility. 1. Accio, decendo, glacius, incendio Almost always kills enemies, the incendio can replaced with defendo but I reserved that for another combo as a filler since it has great range. This is also the primary combo to deal with purple shields. 2. Leviosa, decendo, defendo, depulso A great long range combo that also almost always kills, best at long range because depulso can slam them to a wall more likely or throw them off a cliff, decendo is always the best filler due to its insane damage and versatility, defendo only spins them mid air while doing heavy damage and still leaving them floated so its good as a filler also pushes them further back setting up for a depulso. 3. Arestro momentum, flipendo, confringo, expelliarmus. The filler combo that is used to buy time while others are at cooldown. Only decendo is used in both 1&2 so cooldown may prevent use of both combos back to back thats y 3rd combo is used as intermediatory. For one, u can use arestro momentum only to render a single enemy motionless for like 15 seconds while u deal with everyone else. Or u can use flipendo followed by basic cast, arestro momentum, again flipendo and keep a low damage juggle forever on a single enemy while buying time to cooldown other spells. Its also a goblin killer because midcombo u can expelliarmus and throw goblin's weapons at them, followed by confringo for heavy damage. Personally it also helps expelliarmus is the last spell in the set allowing me to quick switch to last set and using last spell instantly to counter fire or lightning incantations. And also each combo can begin with different type of spells so all type of shield is covered by one or the other for a deadly combo. This is by far the most convinient set I could device with hours of testing. Bear in mind Bombarda and unforgivables arent included, therrs a free set if needed anyway.
I like the idea of a set for each types! my set 1: accio > incendio > descendo > bombarda (general combat + deals with all purple shields and most spiders. bombarda can also act as a pseudo depulso if enemy in the air which descendo can do) 2: transformation > expelliarmus > glacius > diffindo (I use all control traits so i rely on transformation and expelliarmus a lot to generate throwable objects then glacius and diffindo is high dmg and this set deals with all yellow shields) 3: flipendo > glacius > diffindo > bombarda (specifically for trolls) 4: levioso > diffindo > depulso > bombarda (dugbogs specifically). for the most part i rarely need to use shield specific combination since my ancient magic throw 1shots everything aside from trolls and executioners but then theyre easy to take care of at the end if you know how to deal with them.
@@kotabear6556 that 2nd spellset is mostly to deal with either 1: yellow shield for the most part or 2: generate throwable objects. the only combo in that set is glacius into diffindo. the first 2 are ways to deal with shields or generate objects and 1 shot kill *almost* anything. theyre still set in a way that its a force/control into dmg spell so that i dont get confused when using them. i know my force/control spells are in slot 1 and 3 and all my dmg are in slot 2 and 4
@@kotabear6556 basically to answer the question more simply, i dont use disarm into transform, theyre just set that way so i dont get confused as to where my shield breakers are but theyre used to generate throwable objects.
I wish we had 5 slots instead of 4. My combo is accio, expelliarmus, glacius, diffindo, but I also like to keep confringo with me to have a "plan b" if the others are on cooldown.
If you summon them just use incendio after glacius - it deals more damage, but is short range. If you want more damage for long range, just try flippendo modified to curse enemies, glacius, diffindo and bombarda.
I love this and find it interesting how everyone else sets up their spell sets. I started with all yellows, all reds, all purples, and then a utility set but then decided to mix it up with spells that combo together. My sets are now as follows. Set 1: bombarda incendio Set 2: confringo glacius Set 3: imperio crucio Set 4: expelliarmus descendo I just flex in utility spells when needed on set 4 as it's quick and easy to do so.
Thats actually a good setup, I might try it out. As of now my setup is all purple, all yellow and all red with the last being a mix of utility and unforgivable curses. Your combos are neat
Descendo in the fourth one doesn’t really make sense as you have no spells to lift your target up before slamming them down. I would switch one of the two yellow spells out for either accio or levioso to get more damage. And I’d also put all the coloured spells always on the same button so for example red on circle yellow on triangle purple on square and then whatever you want on x. Let’s you take off all coloured protege spells without thinking about which spell to use you just gotta remember which button to use for which Color no matter what spell wheel
To anyone who like the dark arts, having crucio, imperio , and the supped up transfiguration in one set as you enter basically ends the first four of any enemy tou meet, crucio the first, imperio the second, they end up fighting, transform the 3rd into a barrel, throw at the fourth then switch to a diffrent spell set of say glacios, a red damage of choice, supped up accio and supped up infringo, by the the time you have used the second set the first will be basically reloaded, or have a third set with a nice few damage spell and reset the cycle, and before you know it you can have 12 or 13 guys down in a mater of 12 spells
I love using flippendo to flip my enemy and make them airborne, swiftly followed by a descendo to slam them into the ground, and a depulso to slam them into walls and trees and stuff. Works great on direwolves and dark wizards, sucks on trolls and dugbogs.
I feel like the spell combos are more important than having enemy specific spell sheets. I have 3 sheets so I use two for “combat” where they have spells that I can use in combos. Accio + inferno for example, on the others it’s either glacius + bombarda or arresto momentum + confringo. I thing one of the tips the game gives you is having a red, blue and yellow spell on each sheet “and you can’t go far wrong”. I agree, it’s especially useful when fighting those pensive guardians where you can instantly swap sheets when your spells are on cool-down.
❤Thanks for another great video! I've saved all your HL videos in my HL playlist. I'd like to not use any of the dark arts for my first play through of this game and this video should come in handy.
Perked Transfiguration is underrated, turning the enemy into a powder keg and throwing them at another enemy is an easy two kill single shot. Using disillusionment for a stealth run? transfigure one on an enemy on the edge, then use the standard spell to ignite the keg - this will make a noise and other enemies will investigate by getting close to the lit keg and take aoe damage. this will not alert them to your presence so you can just repeat it and the transfigure spell recharges pretty quickly.
Just remember that the further away you are from a monster the more damage you do in this game. That includes vertical height, so using Wingardium Leviosa (bleh, 'Levioso') to levitate enemies off the ground also moves them further away from you on the vertical plane.
so this is why people love the spell that pushes them away then? I have only started trying to use this more, but yeah this makes sense if they take more damage at distance.
You are missing the best combo in the game... or maybe just my favorite. Expeliarmus, Glacius, and the ancient magic their weapon at them. Breaking a goblin with their own axe is satisfying af
On PS5 so D-pad selector: My 4 spell sheets are: ⬅️ Bombarda, Confringo, Expelliarmus, Diffindo ⬆️ Depulso, Levioso, Descendo, Accio (Flippendo subbed in for Levioso when needed for those specific merlin trials.) ➡️ Lumos, Incendio, Disillusionment, Repairo ⬇️ Beast Food, Brush, and Knab sack and then Glacius when exploring the world or Conjuring spell when needed I found this to be the best loadout for my playstyle of *Damage first everything else second* and with the bare minimum of swapping spells needed. This was a non-evil run so I made it a goal to be nice to everyone as much as I could and NOT use any unforgivables. I plan on doing an AEAP run next. (As Evil As Possible)
You can also use other cheese combos by taking advantage of terrain. Arresto Momentum + Depulso will throw away any enemy off of a cliff instantly dealing with them.
Excellent! And definitely took a screenshot as you suggested! But what would be a good a good spell set up for a main exploring set? Say starting with Disillusionment to handle various encounters then moving into your specific sets listed? I'm guessing doing it with the Flex Combo? Thx!
Hi, my main spell set is accio, expelliarmus, glacius, diffindo. Usually guarantees that enemies become defenseless, frozen and get cut apart (in caso of enemies with no weapon, glacius and diffindo will work just fine). My second spell set is dissinlusionment, accio, arresto momentum and confringo (I sometimes change confringo for bombarda, but it takes a while to load so confringo is best imo). The rest are utility spells.
i think the flipping the club on the trolls head might be a reference when ron knocks a troll out by using winguardium levosia on a trolls club and dropping it on its head in the first movie
Transformation + the talent to turn them into explosive barrels, then ancient magic throw is pretty much AOE clearing made easy If you have the high ground, levitating and then dropping does an insane amount of damage The combos change drastically when you add the curses Beat the game without using curses. Duplicated a save to try them out, and it was fun, but a lot easier on hard difficulty.
the spell has a long CD though. It is a perfect opener but never in my main rotation (plus it is useless on bosses if there are no adds, really sucks you can't transform non-explosive throwables into explosives)
I was wondering how people were going to make content on this game. Looks like its going to be everyone saying the same stuff. Not bad tips for newbs but if you have played through the game and don't suffer from extra chromosome syndrome then nothing is new. I wanted this game to be so much more, and with combos and and potions and stuff a plenty you would imagine it being so, sadly there is NO content to use these awesome spells and items with after the game, the open world is a dead zone and mindlessly numb. Thumbs up for the vid and at least giving decent content unlike other people who spend 10 minutes on one useless topic.
Not ideal when you have the same spell on a different button press. Learning how to swap between different spell pages is very easy and makes far more combos.
Accio, incendio, descendo, confringo I think might be better that depulso.. descendo will always deal damage and with a talent also cause an area explosion while depulso only deals damage if they fly into something
Only need three. Levioso, Action, Incendio, Bombarda/Confringo for group clears. Flippendo, Descendo, Glacius, Diffindo for single target and high hp targets like trolls. Expelliarmus, Crucio, Transformation, Depulso all for different situations or utility uses. Crucio, strike to spread + Transformation on smaller enemy then ancient magic throw, kills all enemies. No need for Avada.
I have a good combo, but you need all the unforgivables + expelliarmus or curse mastered spells. The point is to curse as many enemies as possible using expelliarmus, crucio, and imperio, then cast avada kedavra. If you have mastery on crucio it should curse more enemies every time you hit them, and imperiused enemies will curse other targets with each hit. Using this combo you can effectively defeat everyone in a medium bandit camp with one avada kedavra..
What about the transformation spell? Turn them into explosive barrel then R1 barrel on to another target and both are insta dead. What other spells to put with transformation?
Crucio, base attack several times to curse everyone nearby, avada kedavra. Easily takes 5+ enemies off the board in a matter of seconds no matter how strong they are.
There's a talent point u can spend to cast ur transfiguration spell and turn an enemy into an explosive barrel which you can throw at another enemy taking out both
Crucio + basic atks + confringo to break shields and spread curse/burn and then glacius + diffindo/bombarda to clean up enemies. Use focus potion to spam spells or Maxima potion to demolish w/ basic atks, but tbh i rarely used a potion most important thing is stack unforgivable enchantments, with this you can use the other spells sheets for puzzle and vivarium spells 😅
The upgrade for transformation spell turns enemies into explosive barrels. It is good when there are no more explosive barrels around and does a lot of damaged
Accio, Glacius, Incendio, with Level 3 Incendio charms on gear. Absolute nuke been using it since level 15 and havent changed now im 39 and close to 100% achievement
the thing I wonder the most is, how do you even combo onto anyone? I have the problem where I am easily recking one to three enemies, but then the other 8 enemies all start wacking at me non stop making it kinda hard to even see who the red circle on me is from, cause there tend to be multiple at once...
You should have 3 sets of legendary clothes. Each set with the same trait III in all the 6 pieces. Concentration III for the overall gameplay. Ancient magic focus III to farm quickly the ancient magic meter. And the ancient magic power III to kill bosses in an instant. It's that easy.
The only thing annoying about hurling the rock back at the troll is sometimes I hold the button a bit too long and it casts stupefy before I can grab the rock.

Glacius+Bombarda=Chef's Kiss

For the 1st combo I would probably swap out Diffindo for Incendio but that’s just me.
Needed this. Thanks
I'll be real with you. Never even thought about stringing those together like that...brilliant!
@Legacy Gaming wait so you glacius while the weapon is midair then shatter the frozen enemy
On PS5 so D-pad selector:
My 4 spell sheets are:
⬅️ Bombarda, Confringo, Expelliarmus, Diffindo
⬆️ Depulso, Levioso, Descendo, Accio (Flippendo subbed in for Levioso when needed for those specific merlin trials.)
➡️ Lumos, Incendio, Disillusionment, Repairo
⬇️ Beast Food, Brush, and Knab sack and then Glacius when exploring the world or Conjuring spell when needed
I found this to be the best loadout for my playstyle of *Damage first everything else second* and with the bare minimum of swapping spells needed.
This was a non-evil run so I made it a goal to be nice to everyone as much as I could and NOT use any unforgivables. I plan on doing an AEAP run next. (As Evil As Possible)
IMO, following up accio with a talent buffed incendio is better than descendo. You can often damage several enemies at a time
If you use Glacio before even better, if you also have perked Glacio, better still.
Excellent guide yo.. thank you
Wished they introduce ng+ for this game so i can use op spells at the start
You can also use other cheese combos by taking advantage of terrain. Arresto Momentum + Depulso will throw away any enemy off of a cliff instantly dealing with them.
Keep pushing! Great channel, I always take a look if you have content about the game I'm playing.
I find that if you have the appropriate upgrades, accio + glacius + incendio can end most encounters if you manage to catch a few mobs with accio
Thanks for sharing🎉

If possible i like to find higher ground use livioso, accio and depulso or an other spell so when they drop the are also gone
i think the flipping the club on the trolls head might be a reference when ron knocks a troll out by using winguardium levosia on a trolls club and dropping it on its head in the first movie
Transformation + the talent to turn them into explosive barrels, then ancient magic throw is pretty much AOE clearing made easy
If you have the high ground, levitating and then dropping does an insane amount of damage
The combos change drastically when you add the curses
Beat the game without using curses. Duplicated a save to try them out, and it was fun, but a lot easier on hard difficulty.
the spell has a long CD though. It is a perfect opener but never in my main rotation (plus it is useless on bosses if there are no adds, really sucks you can't transform non-explosive throwables into explosives)
Not a super powerful combo but funny as hell! Try this for a laugh, Accio, Flipendo, Descendo, Depulso. Thanks for this video man. Good stuff!
I like using transfigure spell to turn foes into explosive barrels and throw those back for great damage
My favorite combo is so simple accio+incendio+glacius+diffindo
Not ideal when you have the same spell on a different button press. Learning how to swap between different spell pages is very easy and makes far more combos.
Accio, incendio, descendo, confringo I think might be better that depulso.. descendo will always deal damage and with a talent also cause an area explosion while depulso only deals damage if they fly into something
Great video.
BTW did you level dark magic on the same character? it seems we have more than enough points to do multiple builds on one character.
Love slicking off towns of the aggressive frog monsters.(I don't remember the name of the defeated)
Use focus potion to spam spells or Maxima potion to demolish w/ basic atks, but tbh i rarely used a potion
most important thing is stack unforgivable enchantments, with this you can use the other spells sheets for puzzle and vivarium spells 😅
Wow. So PC users map their combat sheets to number keys. That seems a lot more efficient than using the PS R2+face buttons.
incendio on your dark wizard combo over the slicing spell would do more if you're using accio
levioso > descendo > glacius > diffindo is good for range but accio with incendio is more dmg if the mob can be pulled
The upgrade for transformation spell turns enemies into explosive barrels. It is good when there are no more explosive barrels around and does a lot of damaged
This video is so cool
What is a good spell set for trolls?
Perfect video dude thinks
Why wouldn't you use confringo after incendio for more AOE damage?
Accio, Glacius, Incendio, with Level 3 Incendio charms on gear. Absolute nuke been using it since level 15 and havent changed now im 39 and close to 100% achievement
After you stun a troll, you can throw a very quick Glacius + Deffindo at them to really chunk their health, like 25-50%
I was literally taking a screenshot when you said take a screen shot. What does it all mean?
the thing I wonder the most is, how do you even combo onto anyone? I have the problem where I am easily recking one to three enemies, but then the other 8 enemies all start wacking at me non stop making it kinda hard to even see who the red circle on me is from, cause there tend to be multiple at once...
How about a video on dealing with the sentinels ?
You should have 3 sets of legendary clothes. Each set with the same trait III in all the 6 pieces. Concentration III for the overall gameplay. Ancient magic focus III to farm quickly the ancient magic meter. And the ancient magic power III to kill bosses in an instant.
It's that easy.
Good video.
You should include Avada Kedavra! Thing is massively overpowered
The combat in this game is almost too intricate. It’s crazy.
Does using the unforgivable curses change the story at all? I don't want to end up being hated by everyone or in Azkaban.
5:24 - EXpulso? hehe typo? You mean depulso right? =)
Whoops!
You missed the instant KO combo -> Transformation spell + depulso. This kills the target (if transformed) everytime. Cheers!
Broo thats some awesome shit, ive always used the dark spells
This game really isn't difficult to need all these types of "OP spell combo" videos. Pretty simple.
Fantastic guide, thanks for it! Maybe I can fight not only in story-mod now.
The only thing annoying about hurling the rock back at the troll is sometimes I hold the button a bit too long and it casts stupefy before I can grab the rock.
No one's mentioned this yet, but you can use repulso on a charging mongral to effectively one-shot them.
Legendary gear upgraded to 3 with Herbology 3. My chomping cabbages one shot everything, and if they don't the mandrake finishes them off.
I like levioso+ decendo i think you get extra damage with dicendo they higher they levitate
It is RIDICULOUS how much time and detail the developers put into the game...
