What would you need to research this for 200h when the game and all it spells are ridiculously easy even on the hardest difficulty? That guide is for stupid people, everyone builds his own Combo setups. My style is different, i have yellow on 2, red on 3 and purple on 4 and then i switch through the lines so i can spam the fitting number and always have a counter ready on every line of my spells, i just switch and spam 2 on yellow for example and if i get frost i improvise from that on with a fire spell and so on. You can just spam buttons, sometimes hit block or dodge and you are almost invincible in combat. The game is so easy, it could have two more harder difficulties and still be easy.
You made some really good points about the opportunity cost of going unforgiven. You always need a minimal of a two spell combo with it since even expelleramus doesn’t apply the curse effect until after its damage is applied (it doesn’t benefit from it’s own curse) so you will not be going around one-shooting enemies unless you could do so even without traits. Unforgiven essentially just makes additional spells act like the ice-spell; increasing damage of next attack. On the other hand, the curse damage works with all damage sources, not just red spells. For example, the flippendo/descendo combo does a ton of damage with unforgiven but concentration doesn’t help at all with blue spell damage. Same with pushing enemies against walls or other physics damage. Also, a big one is ancient magic and throw. Cursed enemies will also take more damage from basic attacks and items such as thunderbrew potions or plants if you want to mix those in sometimes. Again though, you still need to curse everyone first which takes time to do. And if you can one shot everything by cycling through your red spells, do you really need to use anything else? And you can still mix in accio and glacious as need as they combo well with red spells for some extra punch. I think concentration works best once you get a good ways into that expoential power curve in late levels, but unforgiven is great mid-game if you prioritize the main quests early on and unlock many of the spells before reaching the all-powerful wizard levels as then the extra damage potential is really needed more; say levels 20-30. I personally like unforgiven because I find it a little more engaging, but it does mean cycling your extra spell wheels more to make the most of it since you are always combining a curse spells (expel/flip/arrest/crucio) with a red/blue damage spell; enough to fill two full spell wheels. Concentration is certainly easier since you can just cycle your favorite red spells in any order and pretty much just ignore the others, except glacius and accio to bring enemies closer or really hit an big enemy hard or break a shield. Great analyst!
I have Concentration III on all my gear and the Accio/Descendo combo still pretty much one-shots most enemies at Level 40 on the highest difficulty. Idk if it's just placebo, but I felt as if the mobs got significantly easier after completing the main story. Accio and Descendo aren't even Damage (red) spells and they do insane damage
@@DonDeLem the impact of offense stat skyrockets between 350 and 450; it is not a linear increase in spell power; each additional point is worth much more than the last. At level 40 you don’t even need traits at all to dominate everything. Might as well just do concentration at that point to help out the weaker red spells like expel and confringo. Other traits don’t matter unless trying to go for a damage number record.
@@jonsummers3453- Oh, I didn't know about the 350-450 offensive stats. I didn't start upgrading gear until very late in the story (past level 35) because I found breeding beasts and getting the materials for the loom uninteresting. Did like 90% of the game without upgrades

I’m on my third playthrough and about to platinum with my fourth. Builds don’t have to be complicated . The game begs you to use dark arts and efficient spells . In the beginning part of the game, use Gladrag’s to buy the most leveled up clothing . Don’t worry about aesthetics because you can change the look during the game. Builds do matter. It is not because the game is difficult, but for the sake of efficiency and perfection. Thank you so much! This video was super in depth and helpful. You explained everything so well and showed us how to use the combos and with which talents and with some traits weaved in too, we’re good to go. I appreciate the work and detail you put into this.
This is a awesome build. I only used 2 of the atack traits anf 2 of the damge to curseed enemies. Im still doing awesome damage. That left me 1 to put on ancient magic throws, and 1 for ancient magic damage. It just feels more rounded to me and I clear out enemies fast.
A really nice job with this Nizar and one of the top ones on this subject. My only other comment is one that I find with all the other types on this subject. What about the Pensieve Guardians? I don't think I've seen them discussed. Is there a specific spell set combo that you've tested on them? Otherwise again, Great Job!
Bro I was chilling, doing some zapping on YT to see what ppl is playing like in Hogwarts Legacy and I found this video. I must say this is the best I saw around here. I'm playing exactly the same way, this guy knows what he's doing. Great content! Congratz! 🤜🏽🤛🏽
When you are nearing lvl40 (and getting good legendary fully upgraded gear) you can switch mod to faster ancient magic gain. You already deal massive damage with all spells and running concentration is overkill on most mobs.
It is always difficult to choose between Concentration and Unforgivable. Because I know for sure Unforgivable also increases the damage on Ancient Magic and Stupefy, with Concentration I'm not sure it applies to those other sources of damage or slamming a target or if it applies only to red spells.
My fav ER content creator now making builds in Hogwarts, love it! I’m level 23 this guide timing is perfect, although I already spent two talent points on wiggenweld potency 😞
I also spent 2 points on those talents, but it's fine really since you get 40 points total and the Spells, Dark Arts, and Core trees together total exactly 40, this means you will just have to think a bit if you used, or want to use, points on Stealth or Room of Requirements.
@@Hoyley Not really, i used the heal potion on the start, but didn't use them anymore after lvl10, i'm now lvl30 and i just don't use any potions because i see no need lol
I usually take some (significant) damage during fights so I dont regret the two talent points on wiggenweld (they stack btw so its worth getting both). And it makes curse sapper obsolete. Anyway, great video which made me overthink my planned build. I wanted to get more into RoR and also dont "waste" any points on curse spreading talents in dark arts cause crucio mastery seems to make all of those kinda obsolete. But I guess the extra damage comes in handy early to mid game. Still not sure about depulso/ descendo mastery though 🤔
You give a lot of really good info here, Nizar, and most of it I haven't seen in any other video about Hogwarts combat tips. Thank you so much for sharing, buddy. 👍
If you have the talent that “significantly increases damage to cursed targets”, does that stack with the Unforgivable III trait to give you even more than +180% ??
Awesome video I do like some of the curse effects in the dark arts tree so I skipped out on a couple of spells like levioso but this is probably the best guide I’ve seen I’ve done 3 playtroughs and am happy to still see good builds like this that doesn’t milk the potions like almost every other build video cuz honestly nobody wants to base their game play on consumables
Arresto momentum + Filipendo with the curse trait plus imperio and the expelliarmus with the curse trait is extremely powerfull in combat with the unforgivable trait, i deal damage on the thousands with the basic attacs against cursed enemies
the thing with curses is that is really easy to put the mark on 5 enemies at once and nuke them all with Kedrava, thus making a easy astronomical damage build
Y u don’t do that is bc that set, how he has the spell diamond, is for killing low health multiple targets and stuff like inferi for the fire and the transformation into explosive barrels.. it’s good how he has it. Then you have flippendo in the other one to pre-curse the high heath single targets and then “nuke” as he says. But I’d just use the curses with arresto momentum diamond he shows to open up fights. But this game way to easy to keep on it for long after you beat it
@@DefyThemAll my idea is: as he said we focus on unforgivable trait which will double damage on curses enemy, so you should apply curses as much as possible. In wheel 1 there is no curse apply spell, I would swap between expelliarmus with depulso. But as you said at high level you need all pf that the game is way easy at ng+
@@MrWanted000 it's basically down to choice, exactly like he described in the video, maybe earlier on, if you get Unforgivable III, the maximized damaged from a curse build would make that much difference, but as time goes on it's much more effective to just go for Concentration III and focus more on spell combos that don't rely so much on curses.
I tried alot of different loadouts but I finally decided on Arresto, action, incendiary, depulso Flippendo, glacius, diffindo, tranaformationexpelliarmus, levioso, confribgo, descendo Unforgivables, bombardo I used to have confringo with diffindo but they usually die and it gets wasted as an initial shot to another enemy. So I use it after Levioso to get the cc bonus
I'm not a big Harry Potter fan by any means, but in my rp styled build for my slytherin character, I love rocking crucio, confringo, diffindo, and expelliarmus (haven't gotten Avada Kedavra yet)
How would you create an Ancient Magic/Dark Arts Build? (Building up the ancient magic meter, ancient throw, And curse mechanics thrown in for high damage potential) I would really appreciate if you could make a video for this build with talents, spell combos and overall strategy
I opted for a hybrid: 2x concentration III and 2x Herbology III and 3x unforgivable III. Because I like to glacius + diffindo the first strike attack, throw in some cursed targets and AK them. Meanwhile when in cooldown and reinforcements are applied: cabbages go chaotic. I don't mess around with potions much but I do like to let my plants get to good use.
7:09, What am I doing wrong, if I'm on 30 level, on Normal difficulty, and I do like 200 dmg with this combo (and other spells)? Not upgraded armor will change the damage that much?
Great video and strategy, this will help a lot more than just random spells spamming. I had to swap out bombardo ans transformation for a same coulord spell thoug iam still level 22 😂
This the 1st 1 of these any1 made that’s actually good. I dropped a like and follow. I usually watch these types of vids just to see how bad every1’s advice is, but this 1 good
Fantastic guide. I wonder if it's best to mix some concertration and unforgivable. Maybe someone can calculate what the minimum concentration trait needed to 1 shot normal mobs is, then the rest can be unforgivable for the tankier mobs. Also, how do multiplier stack if they are different type? For example, 1 concertration + 1 unforgivable: is it 9%+30%? or is it 9% x 30%?
In your example it would be 1.3x1.09 = 1.417 (41.7% more damage). Different damage modifier sources are always multiplied together. Here is another example with 3 concentration (multi) and 3 unforgivable (additive): (1 + 0.3 + 0.3 + 0.3) * 1.09 * 1.09 * 1.09 = 2.46x (against cursed using red spell) 1.9x (against cursed targets using non red spell like descendo, basic attacks, cabbage, green spells, etc. 1.29x (against uncursed targets with red spells) 1x (against uncursed targets with non-red spells or abilities - no trait benefit) Sometimes combining two different trait types is actually optimal. For example 3 deafening and 3 herbology is better than either 6 deafening or 6 herbology for mandrake damage due to how the additive/multi math works out. Though that example is more an exception than the rule.
@@jonsummers3453 you’re overthinking it… unforgivables don’t need more damage if you unlock Avada kedavra mastery.. therefore just add to your base damage instead.
I just use defindo with its perk trait in all slots. and I can one shot a troll with a maxima potion. its made the game far to easy lol SO I don't use achent magic or the dark arts as the game is already far to easy great guide!!! fantastic vid
I wish they added Draco Malfoy's "Serpensortia spell" from Chamber of Secrets. Would be awesome to summon snakes to attack your enemy, especially if you're a Slytherin.
I'm curious, but I'm having fun just turning everyone to stone. I'm still OP relative to almost everything i fight. But i like the puzzle of seeing a floor plan, devising a route, waiting for my moment, and striking.
It’s not even that hard with all the stealth power ups you can just run behind everyone and petrificus a whole camp in seconds lol. Doesn’t even require planning. I love this game but the complexity of the combat and or how easy to exploit it is kind of takes away from the game.
@@WubbyPunch I think they should've added more enemies in the open world that are harder to exploit. The hardest battles for me are always the giant statues from the trials, they have so many resistances that you can't just cheese out the fights.
My favorite Hogwarts legacy video so far to be honest. It’s all spell focused and makes a lot of sense. I’m running the spell setup now, just gotta learn bombarda :)
Anyone knows if rerolling chests still works? I've been save/loading for over 2 hours without getting any concentration III. Am I just extremely unlucky?
I said I wasn't gonna do this on Hogwarts Legacy, I was just gonna have fun and see how it goes. But here I am after losing to a troll looking at the best build...
Some cool builds here. I’ll probably never use spell knowledge again since for me it’s more for convenance and I feel like it’s a waste talent points. Because realistically I doubt I’ll go past level 30 again if I do a third play though because it doesn’t feel necessary unless I were going for platinum. There’s just nothing in the game where getting a higher level is needed expect for some quests. Therefore, I won’t have that much talents to waste. And of course, there are some spells I just don’t use. Like descendo, depulso or flippindo even though I should. Last play though I had fun mostly just using the early dark arts traits, stupify, and transformation.
There isnt a weak version of a wizard or witch in this game. The game is fairly easy to grasp...combo wise...its so fluid and simple. Exploration was the goal of the devs.
Or just put Concentration 3 on every clothing item you wear... then you can clear whole camp of enemies in 2-3 casts of bombarda or confringo...trolls go down if few hits too
i already invested 2 points in stealth and one in room of requirement :| and i also upgraded the health potions once do i still get enough points for this build ( basically i used 4-5 points you didnt use ) i really hope for an update that lets you re-skill your points.... but i gotta say, the moment you said that potions and plants are useless you made me really happy 🤣🤣🤣i hate using stuff like that in games ( for example witcher 3. never made a potions build. i just dont like it at all ) your build and video look amazing
Concentration seems too single-minded for my taste. Meanwhile Unforgivable is good for everything even though it's Dark Arts specific thing at a glance. Your Ancient magic will be much stronger and affect all cursed targets - essentially a weaker version of Avada Kedavra but with 5 charges. Your Flipendo -> Descendo combo will be absolutely bonkers. Expelliarmus combined with ancient throw will wreck goblins.

Thank you!
Verry clear explanation thnx!
Increíble trabajo. 👏🏼
One of the best explanations I’ve seen. A good balance of fun playability and power. Thanks
My question is what is farming gear like post game? How do we farm for gear if there are minimal chests left to open?
Arresto momentum + Filipendo with the curse trait plus imperio and the expelliarmus with the curse trait is extremely powerfull in combat with the unforgivable trait, i deal damage on the thousands with the basic attacs against cursed enemies
Excellent video bro. Explained everything Well and very precise. I appreciate the effort in putting this out.
First video I’ve seen that favours knockback curse and curse sapper (low HP given).
the thing with curses is that is really easy to put the mark on 5 enemies at once and nuke them all with Kedrava, thus making a easy astronomical damage build
True and with focus potion talent and lumos you can go fast through multiple waves of enemies
I suggest putting expelliarmus in set spell 1, that would apply curse and increase the damage. Accio>expelliarmus>incedio insane damage
I tried alot of different loadouts but I finally decided on
Arresto,action, incendiary, depulso
Flippendo,glacius,diffindo, tranaformationexpelliarmus, levioso,confribgo, descendo
Unforgivables, bombardo
I used to have confringo with diffindo but they usually die and it gets wasted as an initial shot to another enemy. So I use it after Levioso to get the cc bonus
What spell best to replace the unforgivable curse? I want to make a character that doesn't use them 😊
I'm not a big Harry Potter fan by any means, but in my rp styled build for my slytherin character, I love rocking crucio, confringo, diffindo, and expelliarmus (haven't gotten Avada Kedavra yet)
Thanks for the great video, Elden ring builds were the best! Will u make similar videos for.Wo Long?
Can't wait for it 🤩 it looks amazing
How would you create an Ancient Magic/Dark Arts Build? (Building up the ancient magic meter, ancient throw, And curse mechanics thrown in for high damage potential) I would really appreciate if you could make a video for this build with talents, spell combos and overall strategy
Just curious as to why exclude the 2 wingenweld potency skills?
Hello. Why use in spell set 4 arresto momentum instead of flipendo ?
I got question what if I use (3x) Unforgivable III and (3x) concentration III would that work out
Can we use 1/2 and 1/2? Unforgivable and concentration ?
Bro, the wiggenweld upgrades are super op. You're crazy to ignore them.
Im thinking about buying the game but i have a question can you reset your talents?
so it means theres is a chance that i will not get like a trait lv3 if i need to save and reload?
I opted for a hybrid: 2x concentration III and 2x Herbology III and 3x unforgivable III. Because I like to glacius + diffindo the first strike attack, throw in some cursed targets and AK them. Meanwhile when in cooldown and reinforcements are applied: cabbages go chaotic. I don't mess around with potions much but I do like to let my plants get to good use.
Great video - I recommend running an ancient magic throw trait in there as well! Maybe 4/5 concentration and some ancient magic throw to get really op
Yo! Good stuff. Thanks for this and your right this is a fun build to play, if you don't want to spam 👍
This is the most comprehensive combat guide I've ever found on YT. Thanks.
7:09, What am I doing wrong, if I'm on 30 level, on Normal difficulty, and I do like 200 dmg with this combo (and other spells)? Not upgraded armor will change the damage that much?
@@innocentiuslacrim2290 probably that. Even stacking tier 1 traits for a specific spell you can do a ton of extra damage.
Great video and strategy, this will help a lot more than just random spells spamming. I had to swap out bombardo ans transformation for a same coulord spell thoug iam still level 22 😂
I subtracted 1 of the unforgivable traits for an herbology trait. Don't slouch on the plants, they wreak absolute havoc.
I feel like my play style is cabbage barrage and stealth play but I also love God of War and so I'm doing the other combos with the curses and aoe.
This the 1st 1 of these any1 made that’s actually good. I dropped a like and follow. I usually watch these types of vids just to see how bad every1’s advice is, but this 1 good
when I get to play HL, hehe for sure ill be mindful of this video. same as with Elden Ring 😀
Here is another example with 3 concentration (multi) and 3 unforgivable (additive): (1 + 0.3 + 0.3 + 0.3) * 1.09 * 1.09 * 1.09 = 2.46x (against cursed using red spell)
1.9x (against cursed targets using non red spell like descendo, basic attacks, cabbage, green spells, etc.
1.29x (against uncursed targets with red spells)
1x (against uncursed targets with non-red spells or abilities - no trait benefit)
Sometimes combining two different trait types is actually optimal.
I just use defindo with its perk trait in all slots. and I can one shot a troll with a maxima potion.
its made the game far to easy lol
SO I don't use achent magic or the dark arts as the game is already far to easy
great guide!!! fantastic vid
why the hell would you use flipendo and not arresto momentum? Both apply the curse effect if you have them upgraded.
Flippendo has a much shorter cooldown. And it's a key spell in bringing trolls to their weakened states.
wowww nice build 💪💪
u da legend man
My offensive gear is at 370 now and I was wondering why I'm doing so much more damage!!
I wish they added Draco Malfoy's "Serpensortia spell" from Chamber of Secrets. Would be awesome to summon snakes to attack your enemy, especially if you're a Slytherin.
perhaps in the sequel or dlc
That’s not Dracos spell. It’s just a spell he used.
GG GUD informative VIDEO
My build was quite strong alla round. But of course it had some plant priority. I shredded everything in the game.
I really pray they make a new game plus option because it needs to have one
God tier video.
Best si far, made me start again my game to do this because I did so bad hahahah
I said I wasn't gonna do this on Hogwarts Legacy, I was just gonna have fun and see how it goes. But here I am after losing to a troll looking at the best build...
Do have link for ur talent point
The video is good but I find the perk for the potion helpful but that's probably just me
Sub and liked thank you so much :)
Do NOT upgrade glacious, since that only works with basic cast and you actually wanna follow it up with something like diffindo or Incendio
What about diffindo upgrade should I skip that one too since trying to get it to work is lil iffy since only works half the time
@laffywaffy1989 Exactly! You can use that Point on something else that's more consistent.
Ah, but where is the space for the puzzle and additional spells? they are kinda needed too
what do the numbers on the combos on the ancient meter do? is there a purpose for getting those combo numbers high?
I believe it builds up the ancient magic meter faster the higher the combo is.
@@kev7171 Thank you
No problem! Once you hit combo thresholds more ancient magic orbs drop from the enemies. Picking the orbs up fills the meter a lot faster.
There isnt a weak version of a wizard or witch in this game. The game is fairly easy to grasp...combo wise...its so fluid and simple. Exploration was the goal of the devs.
@Nizar GG I think your gear build is wrong , my Difindo after glacious does 25K dmg wihout cursed state
Or just put Concentration 3 on every clothing item you wear... then you can clear whole camp of enemies in 2-3 casts of bombarda or confringo...trolls go down if few hits too
i already invested 2 points in stealth and one in room of requirement :|
and i also upgraded the health potions once
do i still get enough points for this build ( basically i used 4-5 points you didnt use )
i really hope for an update that lets you re-skill your points....
but i gotta say, the moment you said that potions and plants are useless you made me really happy 🤣🤣🤣i hate using stuff like that in games ( for example witcher 3. never made a potions build. i just dont like it at all )
your build and video look amazing
yeah for sure, it doesn't matter that much if you spent a few points on other stuff, you get a lot of talent points in the game to compensate for it
Does anybody know the dmg multiplier for Ambush III?
Concentration seems too single-minded for my taste. Meanwhile Unforgivable is good for everything even though it's Dark Arts specific thing at a glance. Your Ancient magic will be much stronger and affect all cursed targets - essentially a weaker version of Avada Kedavra but with 5 charges. Your Flipendo -> Descendo combo will be absolutely bonkers. Expelliarmus combined with ancient throw will wreck goblins.
