Dear Bike teacher, Found a bicycle in the trash. Solved all the problems (flat tires etc) except for a frozen in place front derailluer . Can't wait until tomorrow because with your superb guidance I will fix it. Excellent tutorial, and I thank you for being there for us you tube students. All the best Bruce the swimmer New Rochelle N.Y.
So , I bought a used road bike and the guy said it was sitting in the garage for a while....maybe that's why the chain isn't shifting to the big chainring...? All the dirt and dust built up in the spring and what you just described...?
Cool video and helpful. Don't risk it being taken down by using that music, I hope you understand what I say because I don't want to use keywords that are obvious for the algorithm.
I just bought a new 105 Groupset but the FD is very stiff and needs alot of pressure to transfer to the big ring. Its new so for sure it doesnt have dust and its newly lubricated
Have you confirmed the fd moves freely with no cable connection? Use both hands to manually move the derailleur to test spring and pivot points are not stuck. The shifter needs to be in gear 1 before cable connection. Routing of cable may not be correct or wrapped up or tangled causing excess friction at the shifter.
YESSS Mine clicked bad, like it seemed to be broken or something. Must have been some bad dirt and gunk it’s working a lot better. Little cleaner and old toothbrush seem to be doing the trick
Great video I love a bit of wd 😮40, my front mech is having the opposite problem of being very stiff going up gears ⚙️ 😢!, I have broken a shifter and as well as my other bike 😮
Stiffness could come from dry or dirty cable. Get some chain oil in the housing. Try to test the shifter with no tension and locate where the stiffness is coming from. Physically move the derailleur or component with fingers to see if it have stiff linkage or bad spring tension.
Cheers matey I have since taken it to my local bike kitchen who did the same and put some oil down the gear cable barrel adjuster on the head tube which seems to have done the trick, I have tried what you suggested already. They said it was normal 😅! I do have a wider bottom bracket as I am running XTR on a sportive so it could just be struggling to make the extra shift or something. 😮 But I have found my last three bikes running triples all had the same issue my 105 running SL-700 flat bar shifter double broke the shifter and my other Alvio triple has the same issue but jammed completely and will not shift up so I will take it either to a local bike shop 🏬 or the bicycle 🚲 kitchen
I know this is an older video, but I just bought a new bike (Raleigh in Canada) and the front deraileur won't budge.. if I shift on the handle bars, the cable slackens or tightens at the deraileur but it doesn't move at all.. the place I bought it doesn't do returns, they said they'll look at it, but they built it in the first place, so not much faith there.. is the spring pivot point something that can be over tightened? Looked like a pin, not a screw..
Can u pls answer this question in my front gear i have 3disk its working on midle and the bigger plate but its not going on the smallest plate whats the problem there?
Low limit screw may be to tight. Not enough slack in the cable. Shifter and chain not on the same page. Always establish the same page with cable disconnected, double and triple check that shifter is in the last gear.
It may be loosened 100% all the way out. You may need to rethread it back in. Best to release cable tension first the start screwing back in gently so you don’t cross thread.

Thank you little push on derailleur and a bit of mold release spray and all is good! Perfect 👌
Nice!! Thanks

Thanks. Not very mechanically minded but you just saved me a trip to the LBS.
You're welcome.

Nice, some tic always does the trick.
How do i fix my front derailleur that got stuck on my cog?
Can u answer my question pls! My front derailer keeps falling off and not shifting

Thanks, that fixed it for me! I'd thought of the wd40 but not of wriggling it around like that to loosen it up 👍
Your welcome. ⚙️🏁

Mine wasn't moving at all, so very stiff. The Hybrid CCM bike was sitting on the balcony for 3 years, go figure.
Really useful, thank you so much
You are very welcome! Thanks
Mine is totally stuck
Not moving physically also
Same😩😩
Thx bro ❤️❤️
how to properly shift the front derailleur
Yes...
spray it with WD40
This is exactly the same problem I have on my front derailleur, because it’s seized up.
Should I actually by a complete new front mech, or not. Cause all I have is WD-40 and chain lube
My adjusting screw isn't working

@@BikeTeacher ok i will try that
So why just don’t say put use W-40 lol 😂
Did you just replace the derailleur?!?😂
No. Just lubed it. ⚙️
Why do mine has a thingy that hurts my right leg its sharp
A frayed cable end,? Cut it.
