Hey guys, decided to go on a bit of a bombing the other day, and had some fun in the B-17G-60-VE Flying Fortress. Iconic plane, good looking, nice turret placement and packing a good punch. Back in the day I used to really love taking out lower tier bombers such as the Ju-88's, in particular the A4.
They weren't so much as 'bombers' as they had (no idea about them currently) very good speeds, great maneuverability, great offensive and defensive armament.
You learn the lay of those double Mg 81's as well as the plane itself, my god.
It was glorious, sometimes I'd walk away with anywhere from 4-5 kills, sometimes more in rare cases.
Truly a plane of all time.

This plane is actually better in up tiers to 6.0 because half of the enemy team is usually Ju 288s. But when I get downtiered to 4.3-5.0 I face a lot of Do 335s and Bf109 K&G Models. Otherwise this bomber is till great and it’s great to grind with.
you might actually be right there ;) i was killed by ta's the most.
I played like 100 battles with him, but almost 80 i got killed by a do335 so that make me drop this bomber cus i couldnt even destroy one base

Love the bomber content. Wish they'd incentivize flying them more. It'd give the fighter jocks something to shoot at, or, protect as well.
roger that, gaijin has got work to do, long delayed work to improve air RB. And the bomber role with that.
@@jengar6258 Agreed. I'd even like an EC style game mode for the bombers. In addition let us fly them in the World War mode to bomb enemy factories!
B-17 666 most decorated plane with all it's extra guns including a forward shooting gun for the pilot to fire like a fighter would be cool one to fight. Won a 17 to one battle vs Japanese fighters.
For anyone wondering who these ace bomber pilots are in war thunder checkout Hitman's bomber videos on youtube. You wont be disappointed. He often makes planes like the b17 look like bf109s the way he dogfights and kills whole enemy teams!

Hitmann used to be in my squadron, he's a great pilot and a nice dude. And insanely good in a bomber.
@@jengar6258 I already checked out his channel, awesome! I remember in my first days of WT SIM, I would go out in a P-61 or ME-410 and set my guns to 700m just in case I managed to get a kill! Of which, to be honest, there were not many, still not that many ;( - hopefully I'm getting a less expensive head tracker soon which may help! Happy Flying Jengar! ;D

I personally love flying the B-17's my all time favorite plane in real life as well. I personally love flying in B-17 formations when I can which is a ton of fun. I personally love escorting B-17's or bombers in general with my XP50. You ever need an escort let me know.
Come join my squadron to fly with me regularly ;) and yeah, bombers keep having their appeal :)

I occasionally fly bombers. The biggest thing holding me back from flying bombers is my horrible gunner skills. When I do fly bombers, I usually fly bombers with forward facing guns like the T18, B18, and ar234c. When I fly the b17, I usually side climb a lot and then turn back in and drop on the remaining bases.
ye fair enough, you have to fly them regularly to become proficient.

After this great video I am really considering to research and play some B 17s. But the first what i need to research is the earlier version and i don't know if it is as good as this version for the BR .
earlier versions are fine too, just some small differences.
The only bomber i fly is the He-177 at 6.0, as it doesnt feel to OP, nor to weak.
i remember, i had a lot of fun in the He 177 when i made my review :)
I just played my first game with this and took oit one plane bombed a special base or somethin and damaged another before i died(the other plane took A TON of hits i dont even blame the bomber)

I love this version of B-17. Previosuly i flew british Lancasters so its lacks from my previous experience 6 1000lb bombs, But survivability and flight performance are muh betterthan B-24 which can carry exactly saem bomb load.
ah yeah, the brits are not great in the turret department.
I actually prefer bombers so whenever I get a chance, I will fly them but I still do you have two fighter aircraft

I am still flying very low BR (3.7 tops) and play almost exclusively pure fighters so I don't have much experience in bomber mechanics. Do turret gunners ever fire on their own ? When shooting in gunner mode do all available turrets fire or just the one selected gunner ? Have you ever run into any ammo limits in gunner mode ?
they do fire on their own, but only at a much closer distance. When you shoot in gunnery view you see the individual guns by the green circles. When you fire them you see the ammo run out by the green outlining becomming red. You can wind that back by leaving breaks in your firing.

It's only problem is that is it isn't the me264.

Speed is relative, you know. So, usually bombers are so slow relative to other types of planes so it drive me nuts. And they are not so useful, maybe as a bait firstly, it is not a 2014.
I am not very patient when it comes to palying WT.
Fair enough mate, you should play what you enjoy! as for making the bomber role more interesting, only gaijin can fix that for us.

I was literally just in a match with you and i lagged out. Literally get to fight beside one of my war thunder heros and i get giajined lol. I sent you a friend request will you accept it? I would love to pkay sometime.
Ye, i remember, annoying that you lagged out. As to the friendrequest, i dont take them. In the past i had a full friendlist and i got constant contact that disrupted my recording. So i dont do that anymore. Best way to fly with me is joining my squadron. =NmY= Unrivaled.
Bro do you know how leading works? Kentucky windage, point of aim point of impact?
