Good god this is sickening. For the love of god people please don't patronize these circuses. If they make money they will keep doing this. We put people in jail for abuse and using dogs and roosters in dog and cock fights, so we should make this a felony too. This should be outlawed.

I am 41 years old and one of my worst memories is of riding "Jumbo the elephant" at Madison Square Garden when I was a kid. This was of course at the Ringling Brothers Circus and because of what I know as an adult of how these elephants are treated I am ashamed to this day of wanting and getting that "ride". My being ashamed in addition to animal cruelty is also the reason that I will never ever go to another circus! Thank you Mr. Baldwin for caring!!

Now, thanks to my "enlightenment" through the courageous Mr, Baldwin and Peta, NO grandchildren will be "entertained" in this manner. I remember as a child my parents took me to a circus, I cannot remember anything about it but my parents said I was hysterically crying when I saw the animals, I have always loved animals and they said I was saying they were crying in pain, maybe somehow even as a child without any awareness of this evil in practice I picked up on it, pain is an emotion, a vibration, energy, the EVIL idiots committing this cruelty on these beautiful poor animals need to wake up and stop this POINTLESS stupidity.

I had no idea this type of abuse goes on. I own horses and have raised many from birth. I have never needed to inflict pain during my training. I believe this: Physical punishment scares the animal. A scared animal is a dangerous animal. Instead I develop a loving bond where my animals know I will never hurt them. Once they understand this they will do anything for me. What I don't understand is this: these huge animals when in the wild would kill a human so why don't these animals fight back and hurt of kill the people who are inflicting pain on them? If any one knows the answer to this please let me know because I can't figure this out!
REBECCA ANDERSON The eles are taught as babies that they depend on these humans for everything. They are mishandled into submission and instilled with an attitude of submission. As you said, a scared animal is a dangerous animal and some animals can only take abuse for long before they explode as those that have done head stands on handlers and mangled others and frankly I couldn't blame them. Sadly, they are then killed. They were forced to live miserable lives and die miserable deaths. And now we know that small hard packed and concrete enclosures (unlike the great marches across the savannahs or the forests) are another type of torture for elephants that acquire chronic foot infections and arthritic conditions. Except for a few large land sanctuaries provided as rescues to the remaining captive elephants, no elephants should be held in captivity for any reason. And today there is no logic or rationalization to support it. There is only greed and profit.

Quite simply, people have forgotten how closely we are all connected. They Abrahamic religions all state that we are above the animals. That we are individuals with freedom of choice... god given rights. The reality is more like we are all one consciousness and if we fuck with each other in our different states of being we will all suffer together. So if your still able to hurt an animal knowing your most likely going to live it's life then go for it!

omg! Yesterday I attended the circus in Vegas and it all seemed so cheery. Everyone was happy to see those elephants. I had no idea about the abuse happening behind the scenes. What prompted me to check out the possibility though were the protester signs outside Thomas and Mack Center about abuse going on. Your youtube video shows it clearly! It hurt my soul to see this. so glad I've never taken any of my 7 children to the circus nor have I ever been! over the past 3 years i have learned so much of the abuse to animal for our "purpose" whether it be food, clothes or entertainment and mostly thanks to my nutrition teacher in college that showed Food Inc., my life has been changed for the better!

This is my own experience....I never felt excitement about circuses even as a child because of the Disney animation movie, Dumbo. It is a classic movie for children yes, and it probably wasn't intentionally trying to showcase animal cruelty within the circus but I still felt sorry for all the animals in that movie. Pigs are not killed painlessly. They live lives of misery. Even if they were killed painlessly, the point is that we as humans have a choice in what we eat. Millions of vegetarians and vegans worldwide are proof that we don't need to kill to eat. If we can survive and thrive without cruelty, why not do it?

Pigs are not killed painlessly. They live lives of misery. Even if they were killed painlessly, the point is that we as humans have a choice in what we eat. Millions of vegetarians and vegans worldwide are proof that we don't need to kill to eat. If we can survive and thrive without cruelty, why not do it?
Spread the word and stop this cruelty!

I haven't been at a circus with animals for over 30 years... and never will. Let humans entertain humans. No animal should live under such horrible conditions that don't suits their needs at all.

This has been going on for years, imagine yourself a slave being beaten. Taken from your family, mistreated. The only ones who can help are humans....with intelligence. Seeing way beyond the greed and evil because this is evilness ..we have the power and resources to put an end to cruelty and if we don't then you are part of it!!!
Also don't go to the elephant shows in Thailand, elephant safaris in India, Nepal .... those elephants are treated the same way.

Even as a child I never wanted to see animals 'perform' for human entertainment.

And im guessing there are also 12 million BORN animals into this world suffering.Those babies were unborn, they couldnt see or know whatever happened.But these animal are fully grown, they can feel, see, and hear. They feel PAIN. Bless these beautiful animals and curse those who torture them.
