Hi, I completed my engineering without having much knowledge on cars and what are different parts present, how they work, so how could I get more knowledge about these parts in details, what is procedure I need to follow ?
Best and most practical video on the subject ive seen so far. My parts should be in for this weekend so i will watch this a couple of times again . Thank you, youve taken the frightening, must take it in for that type of job out of it and now i feel pretty comfortable about it. Thanks again!
That knuckle came apart so easy... my lower ball joints just didn’t wanna let go from the steering knuckles. No amount of beating or soaking with ATF and acetone helped and I wasn’t going to torch anything soaked with so much petroleum products. I ended up using a hacksaw to cut the studs and then a three jaw puller to pop the studs outta the tapers. They came out like bullets!
Good demo dude, my wife's 2010 needs upper and lower ball-joints changed. I might just throw the discs up in the lathe for a clean up while they are off anyway
Hey LDB good job on replacing the lower ball joint. great video the should defiantly help people wanting to know how to do this. RoadKing will be proud of the job and video buddy. You still playing a lot of gigs? Have a great day buddy!!!
How much of a front lift do you have with the tbars ? I have the rancho rs5000s too but find the ride not to be great. Im thinking of putting bilstein 4600s with a slight extension instead
Bro, I would'nt recommend torching the arm to anyone. At least say not to make the metal glow if they do. If you look at the wear on your tyres, you'll see that you probably have shock absorber issues too though that could have been the ball joint depending on how worn it was? Are the rears the same? If not, it might be time for a tyre rotation and a burnout or 3. cheers.
Kenneth Allen they are solid enough to support full-size trucks for months until the half stripped chassis gets towed by the city! Seen 3 holding up an old GMC jimmy
As always, thank you for watching! Please let me know here if you have any questions!

Great job on this video. Very clear and to the point.
I own the exact same truck same yr ty for the information
Where did you find an upper ball joint arm assembly with a grease fitting?
Do you have to remove the axle from the steering knuckle? I have locking hubs and would really like to avoid it if i can.
Yep.
Can you do this without pulling the hub assembly and the CV

I am lick in that my 2008 ranger lower ball joints are pressed in but are mounted with 4 bolts. Bit easier.
Do you drive it for a short time and then double check the axle nut?
I think you forgot to mention to take the nut off the axel, or I skipped over it?
It call pickle fork
Ball joint separator, aka, "pickle fork"
