Slow clap 👏 Beautifully done. Never had a problem with my rear axle until it blew going through the mountains on a cross country trip headed home. Hauled it the rest of the way and put a cheap junkyard axle in that I need to re-seal. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, been fixing my own things off youtube videos and haynes manuals all my life, and this is by far one of the best tutorials I've seen. Straight to the point, lots of quick tips and notices, showed everything beautifully (props on catching that pin btw, that was some quickness lol) and just overall alleviated any concerns or questions I had going into my own. Thank you and have a great day man 🤝
My mechanic is coming over tomorrow morning and we're going to give this a try. I have a 94 aerostar van. Thanks for the video I sent it to him via the message of texting so he can watch it before we start doing this.
Thank you. Very informative and direct. I almost came off my chair when you introduced me to the slide hammer... in my ignorance i have destroyed a bearing race (or 3) trying other methods. ThanX again!
Way to go Lil'Racer! My daughter has an 05 Ranger FX4, just came back from college and has a leaky rear seal. Fixing it this week, thanks for this video buddy!
It's always good and a helpful thing to have these 'how to' video's up here on RUclips. Thanks for this one. I think though, that I would replace those rear brake shoes, it's just not worth trying to clean that gear oil off or out of them, in my opinion!
Awesome video brother!!, everyone needing this must watch this video. He will show what to do, AND what not to do. And again if you did , what to do to correct it. Hat's off brother. 🎉
For anyone trying to get the drain plug out and it’s rusted on. I had to use a bolt extractor and put a wrench on the back of it and tapped it with a hammer while I was loosening it.
Thank you so much for the video, had to replace the rear left axle after spinning out on an ice covered bridge, Got it all fixed. Very informative video. Thank you. Hardest part was adding the fluid!, if i had my transfer pump it would have been alot less messy
I'm in the process of doing my 94 ranger right now thinking about not doing the bearings they don't look too bad how did yours hold up please let me know
I need to replace the driver's side seal. And I've never done this before so bare with me haha.. I didn't see a driver's side key or c-clip for that axle shaft in this video and I wonder how to make it visible, so my question is, what do I need to do to get to that shaft key (or c-clip)?
@@John-wo7vv Once you pull the cross pin out you push one side axle in, remove the c-clip, then pull the axle. Then do the same for the other side. He said he got lucky, because sometimes the c-clip is not oriented so the closed end faces you, you have to rotate the clip to be able to pull it out.
@@James-ok7ii I don't recall if he says it in the video, but I think I had to put the trans in neutral. It has been a while so my memory isn't perfect. Let me know if that works.
The end of the axle works great for prying the seal out, too!

This guy knows how to make a repair video. Very nice.
Who else can smell that gear oil without being there?
It's strong stuff isn't it!
I can yum
Hahaha i love that comment
lol! Woofy…
Thx bro, all went well but had to grind a socket down to fit between the carrier bolt and the inside bearing.

Thanks Reg!
You know on some older trucks,l had to sleeve the axel's years ago don't know now if you have to do that but it's still a pain, good job 👍.

Thanxs for the video and
about the ups and down..aswell you didnt talk about a tool for 20 minutes excellent video by far
I noticed one of your leaf springs is busted on the passenger side
How much end play should the axles have ?
You can use the end of the axle itself. Slipped it in the hole and then pry to the side.
Thank you so much for the video, had to replace the rear left axle after spinning out on an ice covered bridge, Got it all fixed. Very informative video. Thank you.

Nice job, but hope you saw there is a broken leaf spring, looks like one of the load springs
I need some advice on how to get the axle out when it snaps. Any tips?
Great video you made sence out of every faze of the job
“$5 is worth not doing this again”
*doesn’t replace bearing*. Lol just kidding. Great video I just got done mine!
I was freely moving the diff how can I know I havent anything misaligned?
Thanks
Is there play on rear axle moving it back and forth with tires off??? Would it be normal?
In my mazda B 2500 year 1997 the bolts of the cover is in the front side where the axle goes to Transmission.any help?
Just snapped my axle. Great video to understand how to get it out.
Which side has the longer axle, Passenger or driver?
I'm in the process of doing my 94 ranger right now thinking about not doing the bearings they don't look too bad how did yours hold up please let me know
I used a funnel and a 3' clear hose to ad fluid

I have the same question. Need to replace both real axel bearings
Each Axle has a C clip

Does anyone know if this is the same for 85 ranger/bronco 2
Can you please tell me where you got those seals. Can find any in which the bore fits.
I cant either
Exactly what I needed, helped incredibly thanks man
I cannot get the diff to turn once the pin is out. Spinning the wheel just walks the spider gear and the center doesn't move.
How did you fix this issue?
@@James-ok7ii I don't recall if he says it in the video, but I think I had to put the trans in neutral. It has been a while so my memory isn't perfect. Let me know if that works.
Thank for your time, it great job and video
I would have added friction modifier to the gear oil, seeing you have a limited slip rear.
Most of your good gear oils are already premixed with the LS additive. Just double check on bottle you are using.
Did that screw adapter with your slide hammer come with that kit? Do you know if it is available separately?
does each axel have a c clip or or does the removal of the one make it possible to remove either axel?
Each Axle has a c clip.
good job but the shoes being oil soaked should be replaced just saying
great video man! keep up the good work.
Awesome video buddy thanks a lot
Nice catch with that crosspin!!! Great vid,can wait for more! Thanks
Thanks bud we'll try and keep it up!
@8:00 I don't have a magic hammer. I guess I have to take this job in to the shop.
Perfect except my tiny bolt snapped. How do I get the rest out?
Best axle bearing video! Thank you
