Yes! I remember Gauchos too. I had a pair. I don't think they are very flattering on anyone though! Just my opinion.

Love the new studio space. Good light & background. I’ve seen these styles come & go. Difficult silhouette but the tips you show can make them work. Still not sure I will ever venture into the look ever again. If I did, I like the way you treat it like a full midi skirt.
Wow! I can't believe it. Yesterday I wore one of this gaucho pants but it was a denim one. I had no idea how to dress it up. I just put a white t-shirt and flat sandals. It was more on the casual side. For accessories I put on my sunglasses and a really pretty necklace.
I had more dressy gauchos and thanks to you now I have and idea of how to properly wear them. 😊

I love the space you’re renting. Looks great on camera. I like cropped pants with pumps or tall boots on me. I’m tall and for some reason, any other shoe just doesn’t look the same as they do on you. You look great in everything.
Oh my, how I love gaucho, culottes, cropped pants for Fall. You styled all of them spectacularly and I really enjoyed seeing them as I haven’t purchased them, for some reason, after I passed my 50th year. Terrific memories, thanks Erin.

I have always stayed away from the culottes because I'm short and round. Same thing with maxi dresses. I always think they would add to the mess. ;)

Cropped wide leg pants/coulottes are a wardrobe fav! 😍 If you're like me and mid calf skirts make you look frumpy:
1.) Ilook for hemlines that hit a little below mid-calf (so legs don't look shortened).
2.) try to find ones that aren't too wide (less fabric/bulk 👍)
3.) pair w/ matching or nude booties (to elongate).
4.) wear with a slightly fitted top.

Great looks, Erin! I never thought to style my cropped pants with mules but it looks nice. I usually wear mine with tall boots of the same color and it is very elongating. Love the new studio and can't wait to hear about the Ulta project!!

I was ten years old when I was given almost the same wide short pants, only made for a boy. These pants were ankle length. When I first put them on, I felt strange - I thought wearing these pants would make me look like a girl. But after two or three days I got used to these pants and it became very pleasant for me to wear them. I wore them for a walk or when I went to visit. These pants went well with light sandals or slippers worn on bare feet. It was very pleasant for me to feel my ankles exposed with every step, and it seemed to me as if I was wearing a long skirt instead of pants.
Great video. I try and keep my top fitted because the pants are so full they can make one look like your clothes are wearing you rather than you wearing the clothes. 😊💕

Thanks for this. I've bought a couple of pairs of wide leg crops. I love them, but I've been looking all over pintrest for styling ideas. I'm 5'1' so have to be really careful. One thing seems right is a crop/tucked top. Seems to work best for me.
Yes, definitely tucked because your legs will already look shorter and you need the length.
Because cropped pants shorten our legs, not because of your height.

Excellent idea to rent to a studio, if it makes it easier for you, you will work at Optimum level! I can see that happening. You read my mind with the cropped pants.
All three outfits were great but I especially love the last one. I have a pair of wide leg cropped pants from Jones New York that aren't quite as wide and skirt like as this pair and I was wondering about the length. I thought they were too long but they hit at about the same length as yours. Do you think there is an optimum length? I work at a community college and have to walk a lot so I tend to wear mine with tennis shoes but will definitely try some boots like the last outfit when it gets cold enough which won't be for at least another month around here.
I needed this one! Also I live in cold climate do you recommend light black tights or hosiery? To add some warmth, in other words what ever I would do with a skirt.

I really like look 3. That’s a great outfit. It doesn’t work for me because I am 15 or 20 lbs too fat for those pants but if I were thinner I’d totally wear that outfit.

Erin, I love these looks & the new space! I get so confused about how to dress for my body type though. If I’m an exaggerated pear shape (small waist w/ fuller hips, thighs, & rear) would this camouflage it? Or make it look more obvious? I feel like I have 2 different bodies. A thinner person up top & a heavier person below the waist.

Oh! I was hoping you'd show a really dressy look, like for a wedding. I wore soft knit culottes to a wedding in June with strappy heels, but am thinking of wearing them again to a December wedding. What's your thought on the culottes with a dressy boot for a wedding?
Sure!! Just wear a gorgeous blouse, something sparkly! Maybe satin culottes? I wore those before and they were stunning! And very dressy.

Could you style a fitted wide leg cropped pant? The ones you modeled were all very full almost skirt like with pleats in the front. Tia!
The process is the same. I wear them all of the time. Be careful with the ankle boot that is is form fitting and therefore slimming at the ankle. Otherwise, the leg can look bulky and weird.

I’m 57 and we always called those long onesies .. like to the mid thigh - Culottes .. this was when I was under age 12 . In the mid 7Os those pants that you wore were called Gauchos ... I had lemon yellow ones I wore with matching vest ... I think I wore that outfit to a disco!.. ( obviously being no slave to fashion ). You have such a mid Ny state accent by the way. You look fantastic . I love my Norma K jog pants .. wore them close to 24 hours too ;).

Liked look 3 the best, but think a shorter, cropped jacket would have looked better. BTW - we used to call this type of garment a divided skirt!

Studio is a great idea. I hope it makes your life easier. I love wide cropped pants. I have struggled with paper bag waists. They are always too high for me, meaning the extra little bit comes up too close to my breasts. Do you have guidelines for how high high waisted should and shouldn’t be to keep your body properly proportioned. I don’t think I’m short or long waisted, just normal.
How to look fashionable in flat shoes and not frumpy as i have arthritis and cant walk very well thank you

Try a fitted jacket, buttoned... maybe even belted. The jacket will hide tummy and belt would still give you a waist. These are tricky with a flowy too since it is all over volume, but give it a whirl. You can always send me a pic. Erin@busbeestyle.com

I love wearing mine with pumps or tall boots (not knee length, of course). Many times I also wear them with pointy toes flats. Most of the time I have a white shirt on top, and large belts. I love wearing culottes, even if not the most flattering style for my body.

I tried on a pair of denim yesterday and thought my taller boots would work. Am I wrong? I'm old ,so don't like my sun damaged legs to show. Thanks for the tips! By the way, they did make me feel shorter for somehow.(Iam 5,7.
