I live less than five minutes away from the actual house they were all killed in, in fact, I drive by it almost everyday for work. I never knew them personally or anything but Maddie worked at a local restaurant (Mad Greek) and she had waited my friends and I on a few occasions. It really shook up the town, over half the student body didn’t come back to campus after the break.

This is why I can’t stand hearing race brought into the dynamics of rap heads. As a white kid, my first cassette from my dad was “iced- t , freedom of speech”, then “digital underground”. First album from my mom was “Michael Jackson, Bad”. I used to sleep to Doggy Style and Wu Tang was my freshman high school obsession. Then, I moved to mos def and tribe and guru. Then when Dre came back, I became an Eminem head, revisited Tupac and biggie, and learned a new appreciation for Jay z and Nas. Went into indie rap for a while after that, then matured and grew back love for all. Tried to keep an open mind and loved Kanye , Wayne, and even all the way up to migos. After that, good hip hop has been harder to find. But im a 43 year old white dude and will never accept the “you don’t know hip hop cause you’re white”. I know more than 90% of this generation, black or white.
