Favorite New TV Comedy Program (Mork & Mindy)
Favorite Overall New TV Program (Mork & Mindy)
Favorite Female Performer in a New TV Program (Pam Dawber)
One of the best stories about Robin had to do with Christopher Reeve. Right after Reeve's accident he was getting ready to go in to literally have his skull reattached to his spine. He only had a 50/50 chance of surviving, so along with being extremely depressed he was concerned that he might not wake up. In came a doctor, with blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent." The man announced that he was a proctologist and was going to perform a rectal exam on Reeve. It was Robin Williams, reprising his character from the film Nine Months. Reeve wrote: "For the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay."
R.I.P Superman and Peter Pan.
Or Superman and Popeye.
Superman is teaching Peter how to truly fly now! Just wish they were both still here.
GESSO217 isn't mork a bit of a superman parody ? With the one way space capsule, an innocent outsider look on earthlings and inconsistent yet convenient super powers?
Tom Bruggeman Not particularity as Mork's abilities were nowhere near on par with Superman.
+GESSO217 yes that is true, but they are both able to manipulate time and they both try to blend in with human society posing as "normal" , There are a lot of elements that are very similar when you think about it.
Robin and Chris made it clear in many interviews that they were like brothers. They considered each other as family and had a bromance that lasted until Chris's death. What most people don't know is that their friendship started not only because they were classmates at Julliard, but because they were the only two of their freshman class to be accepted by John Houseman into the Advanced Program at the school that year. This meant that Robin and Chris had several classes together in which they were the only students. Out of a class of 20 that included William Hurt and Mandy Patinkin, these two were already being singled out by one of the most prestigious schools of the performing arts for greatness.
Thank you for sharing this extraordinary piece of information about my heroes in real life. RIP Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams.
@Eziekle Crafts Good to know!!😉👍
Most people do know that.
@@ingriddubbel8468 I did not
Damn you got no damn life or what? To lookup and stalk these celebrities
Christopher Reeves will always be superman/Clark Kent in my eyes 🇬🇧
Chris was amazing in SOMEWHERE IN TIME with Jane Seymour 👍🏽
His name is Christopher Reeve. You are confusing Christopher with George Reeves who played Superman in a tv show back in the 50’s.
@@CheyennefromTaos That is one of my absolute favorite movies! Have you ever been to Mackinac Island? It is so hauntingly beautiful! I got to have a long conversation with Isidore Mankofsky and it was wonderful to learn what it was like to be on the set of Somewhere In Time. Sadly he recently passed away.
@@JMC01644
Wow. Lucky you. I was just watching the film playing out with the beautiful theme music. There r two versions on YT.
I will look for the links if u want.
💎✌🏽💎
@@CheyennefromTaos My daughter took me for my 50th birthday. It was truly a wonderful experience. I had wanted to go there ever since the movie came out! FINALLY made it!
Ironically, they both played as Aliens who eventually made the earth their home and found their niche in it. Superman/Kal-El and Mork from Ork. R.I.P. Christopher Reeve & Robin Williams.
Watching us from outer space
You mean "coincidentally."
@@DunmoresMovieMania It was an ironic coincidence.
I love the way Christopher put his arm around Robin after his speech 3:35 . You can tell thats pure love and joy he felt for his brother. Very pure.
You can't help but love Robin. He's very down to earth and humble. He never changed throughout his fantastic career. He is deeply missed.
RIP to both the legendary actors chris n robin

Who was bigger
RIP to both Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams. Two icons that we've all come to know and love through their bodies of work. 🙏♥️
How wonderful to see Robin and Chris together!
Chris welcomed his best bud, Robin, with opened arms in heaven.
3:35 - Putting their arms around each other, walking off...just breaks your heart.
Rolling Ormond I know... :(
I can imagine that's what it looked like when Robin got the the gates of st. Peter and there was Chris on his own two feet to welcome him home
You just made me tear up man!
turd ferguson me too
I was driving in my car to work yesterday morning and cried loud because I recalled these two MEN.... and all good great people who suffered a great deal despite their true true value in and for this sad world. And I couldn't find an answer ...
you watch this with a smile that fades when you realise these men, Reeve and Williams, are gone. Always seems to be the good people that before their time.
+Bondek And now, Dick Van Patten too.
huh?

Well said
The Good Die Young....the rest of us remain to suffer.
5:52 Robin Williams is so selfless he muttered "take it, its yours" to a little child that wanted to hold it
Michelle Unis
I had to go back and watch that again, you're right lol
I miss the artists like him and Christopher Reeves. I feel like my childhood is slowly being erased😭
I wonder who that kid is that asked if he can take it? That's one bold little kid. Robin replied "take it" instantly, it's a good moment captured.
@@kerosene4751 he was a part of the cast of Mork and Mindy 🤦
Remember, she called him up
@@kerosene4751 he was in mork and mindy with them
I came here for this comment. It's telling of his character that he said, "Take it. It's yours." Accolades were never important to him, it seems.
The world is a less silly place without Robin Williams in it, and this is a time we need silly the most.
so much more true now than it was 2 yrs ago
the world is just as silly we just needed someone to translate that down for us.
We also need a hero like Superman!
needed more so now than ever
who is watching this 40 years old video in 2019?
Me!! 9/2019 I remember this show !! BOY !! that shows you how old ,"I AM "!!! lol.
I am right now 10/3.
@@jayssky8854 I was born in 1975, so I'm old too lol!!!

Two beautiful souls taken from us too soon
LOL! That look Pam gave Robon at 5:34 - 5:36 when he said, "I'd like to thank the writers, who are all home doing wonderful drugs."
Pam was always ever so sweet with him, not just in character, but always gently leading him by the hand.
The hand a genuine love for each other. Watch the documentary “Come Inside My Mind” about Robin’s extraordinary life. They interview Pam throughout it. When it comes to talking about his death she completely breaks down. Even though they had only seen each other on a few occasions in the decades after Mork & Mindy ended, you could tell they had a special bond that transcended time & space. ♥️
Pam Dawber is a class act here; Williams is at first hesitant to go on the stage a second time to receive the award for Favorite TV Program, but Dawber takes his hand and is like "Come ON, it's okay!" Then she has the good grace to call the rest of the cast onstage as well.
Total class. Actually think it was only supposed to be her going up (and she makes a statement to that effect when she gets up there), . The announcer only says her name but she grabbed hold of Robin as he got up to let her pass, and insists on bringing him with her, and the announcer made the addition (which she laughs at on the way up). Genuinely think she loved the guy, and no one was more appreciative of his comic genius.
Christopher Reeve's didn't get enough chances to show off his comedic skills (one of the best aspects of his Clark Kent, in my opinion) and no one could turn an award acceptance speech into a stand up routine better than Robin.
Noises Off...
He was so sweet, humble and adorable. And really handsome, especially in his younger years. He is deeply missed.
I never thought he was handsome.
He had beautiful eyes and his humanity humanity glowed from within.
@@ingriddubbel8468 Handsome is (ironically) in the eye of the beholder. I thought he was seriously attractive during his Mork & Mindy period. You're right about his eyes though, he had blue eyes that gave Paul Newman's a run for their money.
One has to imagine what it was like when they were both in class together.....
John Houseman was vaguely terrifying, not sure he'd let them away with much. There's a moment in the 2nd ep (I think) of Mork & Mindy where Robin lapses into Shakespearean prose (its how Mork gets his 'earth' voice) and its so sudden and impressive you can only imagine what he might have been like doing it on stage, and you can really hear his classical training.
This is wonderful to see how much Christopher Reeve loved and respected Robin. Thank you for posting!
I wrote this after the death of Robin Williams, August 2014.
I laughed so much I cried
I laughed so much I nearly died
It was all too much
It was all too little too late
The demons that haunted you at night in bed
Was the emptiness in your head and not your soul
All those years lost searching
For redemption from prying eyes not knowing
That this clown
Was burdened by an unimaginable dark cloud
The loss of your dearest departed friend
Didn't mean it signaled the end
But it did steal something
And left a remarkable gift so amazing and profound.
When on one hand it took, the other you received and gave
It was not enough to silence the millions of critics in your mind
Why didn't we spot you were running out of time?
I laughed at an Alien called Mork
From a planet called Ork
And how could deary me,
Forget Mrs Doubtfire, that wonderful Scottish nanny.
The Doctor you played in Good Will Hunting,
Gave a tiny clue to your depth of compassion and feeling.
But, alas the greatest character you played was the one we never truly knew.
S.Miah
Amazing, congratulations, from Brazil
Wow....... it's so beautifully done.
I love this!
I love how Chris R calls Robin President of madness! and Superman has had a hell of a day and just wants a bowl of soup and early night! Such lovely guys they were.
3:33 -- That hug Chris gives Robin looks really heartfelt!
How wonderful it is to see these two SUPER-MEN together.
It's so nice to hear Chris Reeve laugh at every joke of his longtime buddy . So moving .
Aaww, nice to see Robin and Pam together. Robin is so humble, just love him.
Nanu nanu for ever
In that room are the actors, writers, and producers who gave me pretty much every show of my childhood. What a great time for TV, even though we only had three channels.
It certainly was the good old days! 😁😍😆
Rip Christopher Reeve & Robin Williams we still miss you guys
RIP to both of these great men.
Reeves giving robin a hug is epic
*Reeve
I agree though.
Award ceremonies don't get better than this, the people's choice presented by Christopher Reeve and presented to Robin Williams. Rest in peace guys. You have been immortalized in the public consciousness and in movies and on tv shows, which will play for many years to come.
People mention Robin and Chris. But man Pam Dawber looked fantastic back then!
Christopher Reeves and Robin Williams. Both of these guys were genuine hero’s for me as a kid growing up. Robin was such a talented but tormented man. As someone who suffers depression I understand how life can be very difficult at times. Nanoo nanoo Robin and Fly high and free Christopher. 🙏
*Reeve
These guys were the kings of their time. Now they are in heaven. God bless you guys.
i can't help but have tears come to my eyes seeing Chris and Robin hugging.
I love this :) it's wonderful seeing Chris and Robin together, old friends who both made it big. It's like if you and your best friend became famous, you'd still see each other as the same people, still laugh at all the in-jokes, still crack each other up. The fame and fortune wouldn't even matter, 'cos that's your buddy. That's what I see when I watch these two together; regardless of how incredibly famous they were, you can see how much they adore each other and how Chris can't stop laughing with his old pal :)
Robin one of the funniest men ever, he was brilliant..so missed.
To those who are familiar with the Superman franchise, does anyone else reckon that Robin Williams would have made an excellent Mr Mxyzptlk?
James Farina Should have been the replacement for Richard Pryor in Superman III. Nothing against Pryor in any way. Just would have made a better movie.
Yes, he would have.
Great Rao, yes he would have! And I bet Chris would have been over the moon about getting to share the screen with Robin, who he loved like a brother. I can only imagine what those two would have gotten up to behind the scenes and between takes, lol.
I'd like to go back to that time even for just a day to see these 2 vital men before an accident and a disease robbed them of their quality of life.
Christopher and Robin - you brought me laughter, joy, and heart palpitations. Rest in eternal slumber to you both. 🙏🙏
“Take it, it’s yours” without even thinking a second, so humble Oh captain, my captain!!!
I'm not a religious man but I'm so glad they're reunited in heaven if there is one!
Damn Reeve hit that flight pose perfect.
If he flew away wouldn't surprise me.
That's how powerful his performance was when you see him you see Superman. RIP Christopher and Robin
I was obsessed with Reeve a few years ago. He was fascinating. His upbringing, talent, standards, vibe and appearance. Don’t know what he was really like, I just wish I did.
Kind of amazing how extremely different Robin and Chris were as actors, but both still found enormous success in trademark roles. And yet both were great friends before it even all happened.
that was the beginning of the heyday of hollywood, big nights with big audiences, intelligent movies, new and excitinng directions, slow life, more time to immerse in movies. the best age of the cinema.
That kid at the end. “Can I take it?!” Then runs off stage with it lol
best friends that made it big by playing aliens. we'll miss them both. ^^
I love Robin and Christopher rip u both
Oh Robin.....you left a hole in my heart when you passed......you deserved so much more
Hollywood's a rough place; extraterrestrials need to stick together!
That is funny! And cute!
@@marnynottenkamper3925 Awww... :-)
I loved them both. What heartaches they both had to endure in life. Christopher Reeve had that horrible accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down and Robin Williams had struggled with demons within himself for years till he couldn't take it anymore. They were both so tremendously talented and very intelligent men with kind, gentle hearts. Thanks for sharing this.

ALREADY DID!
Robin conquered his depression and addictions many. Many years nefore his death caused by the manifested Lewy body dementia a neurodegerative brain cell disease.
A shame that both are no longer with us.
when these awards meant something and our favorites were still alive. RIP.
Chris Reeve must have been a real sweetie pie.
From everything I've heard about him, he was a good man from a good family with a heart of gold that was bigger than he was.
The most iconic moments in the history of Hollywood .
The man of tomorrow was classmates with a man of ages. I never knew, while admiring both of them so.
Each time the camera is on Jean Stapleton you see her laughing, she must have been a great fan of Robin Williams. Can you imagine an All In The Family episode where Mork meets Edith Bunker?
Two great heroes. I hope they're in heaven.
You know they are, they must be.
Heaven. Yes, that is surely where they are…
I actually remember watching it, because it was one of 3 channels we could receive in 79. Very rual western NC.
I never knew these two amazing actors were friends, that is so wonderful! ☺️
I remember seeing this award when it first aired and christophers arm around robin
Wow. Superman and Mork team up.
Two great actors that died to young. Mork and Mindy was one of my favorite shows growing up. Christopher Reeve will always be Superman in my heart. RIP Robin and Christopher, for y'all are greatly loved and missed...😢♥️😢😊♥️♥️
Hi Karen hope you're okay?
I grew up on Mork & Mindy man that is a great show loads of laughs
Dick van Dyke, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeves in one video, legends all of them.

Wow to see all of these actors from my childhood. Its a shame that most of them are gone already. Ahhhh, those were the days!
Brilliant, sad, kinetic, kind Robin Williams. Always w us. RIP
I miss Robin Williams so dang much. I wish things had turned out different. He was so unique. He was so funny and it’s hard to know he is gone. I loved Mork and Mindy. I loved everything about him. RIP Robin Williams 😢😍😍
I don't remember if I saw this in 1979. We didn't get a vcr till 1982, they cost $1,000 back then. Thanks for taping this....great to see these old clips on RUclips!
$1,000 for a vrc? dang!
Absoltroll Yes, VHS recorders were ridiculously expensive back when they came out. We didn't get one until 1982 I believe. Also tapes were expensive. We rented movies on tape from small independent video stores...
Yes and the early VHS movies cost $50-$100.
@@alixvandurand No that was the actual cost which is the equivalent of about $120-$240 today.
So sad to see two legends now RIP but in their prime is just nostalgic yet sad Chris Reeve and Robin Williams never thought they met each other until now.
Robin and Chris were class acts. Televised award ceremonies today lack the class, professionalism and art that you find here.
RIP Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014), aged 63
And
RIP Christopher Reeve (September 25, 1952 - October 10, 2004), aged 52
You both will be remembered as legends.
Robin came such a long way & shared his wonderful adventures with all of us.SHEER MAGIC & WE WERE TRULY BLESSED!
Fly Robin Fly with Superman! RIP to both.....May they soar the heavens together....
I can't believe I've only now realized, that both Robin William and Christopher Reeve got their big break in Hollywood by playing aliens visiting earth.
Besides getting their breaks, Robin and Christopher were roommates at Julliard's Their headmaster was John Houseman, whom that Robin mentioning about in his acceptance speech. When Christopher gotten seriously injured from horse accident, Robin was there for his best friend. Robin was there until the end in 2014 helping out Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
I miss them both. Gone way too soon. Hard to believe this was 43 years ago.
I was in 7th grade when Mork and Mindy first aired.
Mindy was my first real crush. Mork was mesmerizing...so unlike anything else on tv.
I've said this many times Robin playing Mork was the best acting he's ever done cause no one could of played Mork except him
Never seen or knew they were friends. This is precious. The way Christopher hugs him.
Also, I like the atmosphere, it's like...I don't know the word, everyone feels homey and playful. Could that be the 70s, or Robin Williams, or a combination of both? 😙
Both gone but will never be forgotten. RIP
That's genuine brotherly love between Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams.
Interesting that Christopher Reeve said "let this man out of a bottle and put him on the tube" about someone who ends up playing a genie brilliantly.
Much happier Days sure miss them !
I grew up with these two. Chris being Superman was cool by any standard and I was naturally drawn to Robins brilliance as a comedian and a breath taking actor. I miss them both but I hope whatever demons Robin had and Chris's paralysis is cured. These two gave us so much joy and laughter, I hope the joy they gave the world is returned sevenfold. God rest, God bless and God speed Robin and Chris and thank you for the joy both of you brought to all of us left on this rock floating in space.
Such an innocent time. Happy days ( excuse the pun) It is wonderful to look back and see these lovely, talented men at the beginning of their careers. Thank you.
Hi Cherryl hope you're okay?
5:33 the look she gives him after clowning about the writers. The show went on for 4 more years!
What legends, both extraordinary.
Both such major parts of my childhood - spent more time with these guys than some immediate family members hah!
Miss them both.... so much :(
One of my favorite actors of all time. We will miss him so much, but have his talent and wit to enjoy forever. Question to Suchislifevideos: How are you able to dig up these clips so rapidly and get to share them with us your subscribers? Well done!
A W 2 Thanks! Most of the old stuff I got from news archive sites. This show I had in my 70s collection.
The entire show was a winning formula from start to finish.
