Take the pump off the block and install it on a table propped up by some 2x4s and use a steel gas pipe with a cut out channel on it, works much better than a wrench. Looks good though. I had a panic attack watching you put that hammer on the crank and rods 😅
Good video. One thing I use to double check I have at least 1/2 inch clearance between the oil pan and the pickup is to remove the drain plug and run a cheap bore scope camera in thru the drain hole so I can see the clearance. The scope cost like 30 bucks on Amazon and I use it for all sorts of stuff.

87 and up I believe is when the dipstick got moved to the passengers side and also the one piece rear ,main seal came into existence in lieu of the old two piece that always eventually leaks way worse and way sooner than the one piece one
That's exactly what i say " REALLY" when i drop something that's not suppose to be dropped in .haha😂 or can't fine my wrench or socket i just put down a minute ago great video,
So i got a question on your video on adjusting valve and pushrods. You put both dots away from each other facing up. For the Distributor to drop in. What so it will be sitting on number One cylinder on the compression side
@@dennyr8492 so first I do dot to dot so u can install the cam and timing chain and that gets all the valve train in sync, then u turn the dots away from each other so u can install the distributor and ur ready to fire it up, if u don’t u will be 180 degrees out and will just back fire when u go to start it
@@cali530marcos3 so what cylinder will the rotor for the distributor be at ? I don't know if i do this wrong i set both dots together TDC then put the distributor rotor close to number one cylinder on the cap. Then if it's not firing right move the distributor till it fires.. sounds to me I'm off a little.i got Edelbrock aluminum heads and a Howard rattler cam in this 350 i don't want to ruin this motor
It depends if u have the plastic connector one or the metal shaft like mine, if it’s plastic it’s snugg and clips together, if it’s metal it just slides over it

I had the same problem, bought the install tool..😮 screen was installed in a minute!

I need to buy me one, they come in handy

Nice tech tip regarding time gear dots.

you have a excellent video here, plenty of light and I dont get dizzy from camera movement... very good.
Thanks, appreciate the support
Great video guy! About to do this tomorrow.
Thanks, and good luck
They make an oil pump that is threaded so you can thread the pickup tube into the oil pump
@@michaelspeakman8924 I did not know that, what brand

Thanks

Good job bro

I noticed your oil pump shaft didn’t engage to the pump and most vids I see they fit snug mine is like yours is that normal?

Why do people not spring for the one piece gasket?
😂 You did get a one piece those corks suck

Much better gasket kit anyway

What size are the 4 corner bolts for the oil pan?
1/2 inch or 13mm
With the dot on top you said the distributor is ready to go in, what position or cylinder? Do you have a video? Thank you.
i do not have a video on that, but you point the rotor inside the distributer towards the #1 cylinder
I just jumped in on this channel are you going to run a hei or a ,marine points distributor I've run both but of course prefer the hei
I’m using the marine distributor with an exterior coil
What's so special about the marine points distributor?
Ok. I just read a comment that says you're assembling a marine engine.
Is this the end of the bild or are going to finish up with intake and carb extra
i have one more vid on painting it, but thats it for now until i install it and do the first start up
Is that engine running yet
Not yet, I just got done installing it in a 1987 Malibu ski boat, doing a video on installing all the accessories then imma do a first start up video
Ski boat cool
what grade of oil do you put
I use 5w30 since everything in the engine is new
did u check crankshaft end clearance. didnt see u do it
Yea, just did it off camera
May I ask the process?
