  • Frank's Boots MTO Rebuild Bison Roughout unboxing, Did some custom things, including one thing I don't think has been done b4, and ones thing that has still only been done by me.
These were originally White's from more than 50 years ago that my Grandfather always wore. Was very excited when I realized I could have Frank's rebuild them for me so I can wear a memory of my Grandfather.
Very similar to White's, Nick's, and JK Boots

Great boots. Beautiful. But a way better story. Classy gesture and boot build. Congrats.

I wish I had something from my grandfather. Very cool that you get to have a memento of him. I have two pairs of Franks and one Nicks when they were located at today's Franks location. I also own a pair of Whites semi-dress boot. All Spokane makers are great and I don't think anyone would be unhappy with almost anything from Franks, Nicks, Whites, or JK's.

They are all great, but I think Franks has the true custom fitting that JK/Nicks,Whites doesn't quite go beyond beyond to get.

Is there a big difference between the white x and the standard sole?

    • @cloveroak5492
      @cloveroak5492  Год назад

The White-X is a softer composition extremely comparable to the Vibram Honey sole. So it is more comfortable (more forgiving) especially on hard surfaces like concrete. But for that reason it wears a little faster.
Another name for the White-X is "Fire & Ice" as it is rated for fire usage, but the softer composition allows it to freeze at a lower temperature so you are less likely to slip and fall in wintery conditions.

I kinda wanted a pair of franks and nicks, but i think franks is better than nicks because nicks is at a spot now, where they are too big and not enough staff kinda thing. Obviously if you have to wait 7 month for a pair of boots you have grown out of your current configuration.
Franks is a still a good lead time, but they are still amall enough and teuly care. Whites got bought out a while ago when they were where nicks is now, size wise.
Anyway, im getting a pair of jk, i think its just as good as the rest but the lead is what got me going in that direction.
A month for a pair of boots made of all leather is what I was looking for. Price wise, they are equal to nicks and franks.
I got some bisen wedge beautiful boots. They look almost like alligator skin but a gorgeous dark reddish brown color, amazing looking if you ask me.
You should check them out on their site. They are timeless and i can't wait to get em

I was agreeing with everything you said up until you mentioned JK.
JK SEEMS to make a good boot as long as they get everything right. If something goes wrong whether it be build, materials, or fit then JK's customer service turns into a nightmare. Nothing is ever their fault. If that does happen you will need to post your experience in all the social media you can. When they see it they will offer to fix your situation for the cost of a rebuild as long as you delete your negative post. So basically splitting the cost of fixing the problem that they should have taken care of to begin with. They do this surprisingly often, and that's just the situations I've heard about and been involved with.
JK (John Khadzhi... His real first name is very foreign and I can't remember how to spell it) trained under Frank when Frank owned/managed Nick's. So he does know how to make boots, but he doesn't have the experience he'd like you to think. The way they run their business I expect they cut corners during building, but I've never heard any evidence to support that.
I hope you are one of the lucky customers for whom they get the fit and build right. If so you will likely be very happy with them.

@@cloveroak5492 yeah I have heard some negative stuff.
I live in pa, i am petty enough if I feel I was actually burned on purpose at any point, to fly there and handle it if it came down to them thinking they were gonne fleece me or something. I dont care about much, getting ripped off I hold equal to someone pointing a weapon at me, regardless the amount.
      So, we'll see.
Its not all roses at Nicks and Franks. They are constantly screwing up orders and sizing, they generally take care of it. If you didn't want ur boots roughed out or something they generally settle on losing a hundred just because they know they will lose that shipping them to and from and making it right, they also have to put you in line immediately which is taking away from their next order obv.
Now, they are still both probably the best in the business, I wouldn't hesitate to order from either.
Just thought id give this a try.
If it fails, I have a contact that can blast it out there.
