I love my franks. frank himself actually fitted them to me so they fit very well. however I ordered them as rough out and they came in smooth. small issue and not a function issue at that but still I think you'll like them.

@@EasyMoneyCrew I did the custom fit so it took about 5-6 months. I’m sure it’s a lot shorter wait if you’re buying a normal size.

JK boots are a very good company and they treat you very good as well. Also, their customer service is phenomenal. And there boots are very good quality and JK stands behind there product 150%. When I was looking at getting my first pair of handmade custom boots, I looked at a bunch of different companies on the western. And I made the drive to Spokane Washington I was gonna look at a couple of the different boot companies that were there. But when I got to JK boots their customer service was phenomenal and they literally treated me like I was the president and took care of me very well. Measure custom fit boots along with custom uppers. And with everything I read and heard online along with a couple of people that I know that have JK boots I went with them, and I was not disappointed.

I’ve got Franks Front Ranges. By far my favorite pair of boots. I like them so much I ordered some custom boots in brown domain leather for casual use.

Appreciate real reviews from real users. I see a lot of real not influencer people are saying that Franks are more well built and overall more happy with their franks than nicks. Glad I dodged a bullet and cancelled my order at Nicks. There has been several issues with their quality control lately too, seems like they are having a hard time keeping up with their popularity.

I'm torn between White's and Franks for corks.
My 2nd pair from a different company came back rebuilt wrong for the 2nd time.
I like your idea about a toe cap, I'll have to ask if that's possible with corks.

JK has a tendency to not take responsibility when a boot doesn't fit right, but assuming they get fit right they seem to make a good boot.
Frank's is the way to go all the way around.

Nikolai Blahuczyn was the founder and original owner of Nicks boots. Franks brother, who is also Nick, bought the company in 1991.

Thinner leather and more of a dress boot. I've heard hit and misses but if you can swing the cost they're certainly not bad

    • @roughcutranch
      @roughcutranch  9 месяцев назад +2

I have personally seen some of the Adtec and Hiax boots start to de-laminate the glue on soles. IF you order "Wildland Fire" boots from Franks, Nicks, JK, Whites. They are supposed to build them to NFPA 1977 standards which include the glued, screwed and stitched Vibram "Fire" sole. Stitching withe Nomex thread, and be a minimum of 10" from the floor to the top of the boot.
I ordered a set of whites in 2017 and asked for 12" uppers, and an extra toe cap. Guy said they could build them as "Custom" for an extra $. I said they have to be Fire. He said that they didnt have my spec as fire boots. I asked what the deal was, as I was asking for the same boot as their smoke jumper except taller, and with an extra toe cap. he said that Whites didnt have that version submitted to NFPA for approval thus he wasnt going to put the NFPA tag in it, even though it was built the same way. I said Goodbye to Whites and started Using Nicks and Franks.
I have seen everything on the fireline (2006 to present) from walmart boots to actual top of the line wildland fire boots. Really depends on the scene inspectors.

  • @PNWBootMan

Nick’s Boots is still family owned and is owned by Steve and shyler mou. The name Nick is short for Nikolai that was a Russian man that worked for Whites Boots many many years ago or years until he started nicks Boots in 1964

But they aren't custom anymore. I used to buy nicks boots but one day when I asked for the same boot I had bought 3 times before they told me no because their business model had changed. So my money goes elsewhere.

@@adamsmiths3016No, they're not. But this is the second channel that states Nick's was bought by another "company". More accurately, they were sold by Nick Petrilli and his family to the Mowe family. It wasn't a corporate buy-out like with Danner's and White's, although at least White's are mostly self-managed and built in Spokane. Don't disagree with your assessment or the poster's.

I was told they don't that level anymore and we're Unable to make the boot that they had made me in the past. So no they are not a true custom boot company any more. They are a fashion boot company now.
