Curt makes a 7 to 5 pin T connector that simply plugs in to the back of the existing trailer connector and with the 5th pin you don't have to do anything to the backup lights other than put a Plug on the end and use the 5th pin on the connector! Easy no wiring to do other than connections!
Love that light bar..had mine for about a year..I got the 7 pin piggyback plug..only had to hard wire reverse and retained my 7 pin for trailer..great product
I want to put a light bar on my 2016 ram but have had bad luck in past with the bars failing from 3mo. to a yr after install on the different trucks over the yrs. Be nice to see one last 2-3 yrs
99% of the trucks I see with this mod have many dead pixels on their bar, or half the bar has stopped working completely. LEDs like constant and consistent current, so adding a 1000uf capacitor before the first LED might improve your luck. It also wouldn't hurt to run those signal wires (Reverse, Brakes, etc) through some relays. Just as we add a relay for our Remote Accessory Turn-On Wire when we significantly increase its load, it's also not a bad idea to run the lights signal wires through a relay as we have also significantly increased its load. Another thing to try would be to get an 8-15V to 12V Voltage Regulator and mount it near the beginning of the strip, as it will produce an optimal current for the strip to maintain its health. Lastly is waterproof rating... I see a lot of strips claiming to be IP68, when they're really low grade IP67... Real IP68 strips are fully encased from top to bottom in a thick layer of injected silicone with no outer sleeve. From my experience, strips with IP67 ratings do not last on the outside of a vehicle.
If you would of used the CURT 56584 Replacement Vehicle-Side Custom USCAR 5-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness you wouldn't of had to splice into anything ... you could of added a bullet connector to the white wire which is your back up lights and connected it that way ... the last pin connector on the harness is your back up lights that is where the white wire will go into it ...
I already have a similar adapter being used for the trailer harness that goes to the fifth wheel in the bed. I used a similar connection to the backup lights but rather than a bullet connector I opted to use a weather proof single pin connection. Because the wire was so long it was easier to just tap into the tail lights and place that connector in an area that is easier to disconnect rather than up behind the bumper and spare tire. There are a 100 ways someone can wire this up, this is how I decided to tackle it and it works well.
BigB10774 I like the quality of it and I actually like the sequential turns for visibility. If your towing with a ram, best to cover the screen so it doesnt blind you . Mainly the screen because it is bright already. Thanks for watching!
I am looking for about your product place leave me a message. When I post this, I am looking for more on this . I'm looking for more information on this work and hook it up to it S10 Chevy truck do not have that kind of plug how would I word into my bed

I only soldered these because I also installed a trailer harness inside the bed for hauling a fifth wheel or goose.
How has the light bar held up?
No issues so far
Great video, got a question how do you get your spare tire down when the light bar is covering the hole?
It doesn't cover it completely and is still accessible.
@@MKSPerformanceOffroad That’s good to know. Thanks.

I’ve had pretty good luck with light bars, what brand are you buying?

Good video. Thanks for showing how you did it.
Hmm mine come in two parts. Only difference was I got the red 60 instead
Mine didn’t come with a 4flat attached to light bar. Just splice into wire harness underneath and tail light ey?
Yes you can splice in to those locations
Can you still hook up a trailer with no problem? Someone was telling not to since i alway have a trailer hooked on?
Yes I can still hook a trailer with no issues
Looks badass bro

This is hot and been looking forward to install it asap....
Its definitely bright and makes you way more visible
Good option for reverse lights. I personally wouldn't connect the rest of the lights. Not my thing.

How do you take the spare tire off ?now that you blocked the hole to lower the tire
When you install the light you can actually push it a little above the hole and still access your spare tire
Jeremy Miller, no I bought this light bar off amazon.

You would need to wire a harness in for trailering that would have your tail, turn, and stop light wires in it.
Where is the brake light wire?
Where are you trying to locate it at?
On the light bar…
Both the turn signal wires double as the brake light wire for each side.
@@MKSPerformanceOffroad how is that possible? wouldnt the brake light come on when the turn signal comes on?
@@ajack0 are you using the supplied connector and plugging it in to the trailer harness?
You need to learn how so solder properly. It shouldn't have been that much of a struggle.
I solder just fine, got the job done and it haven't had 1 issue with it. Thanks for your expertise.
