Great video. I bought a 7-pin pass through cable that has an extra 4 pin hanging from it. For some reason, when it hook the 4 pin to this LED light bar, the only thing that lights up is the bottom row of LEDs. And it only lights up every 20 or 30 seconds. And the middle of tbe top row will only flash every 20 or 30 seconds. When I hook up the LED bar upto our other vehicle's 4 pin trailer hitch connector, it works fine, all functions. Any idea what the problem could be on my 2019 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss? Thanks again for the excellent install video.
Not certain, but it sounds like whatever is built into the pass through creates a small delay.....the light bar has a sensor that also has a delay (that’s why when you hit your turn signal there is a delay) it does this to decode a blinker signal vs a break signal. That would be my only guess but not certain without having the same item to test.
Awesome product I am adding it to my list. I have noticed that the back up camera is almost useless to me at night because the reverse lights are so dim.
Mountain Hobbler yes sir! We added the DiodeDynamics reverse bulbs...and they helped...but still super dark....I have had this brand light bar on 3 other vehicles and it simply rocks! In my opinion they look “cleaner” because it’s a solid bar of lights, the sequential turn signal looks better, and then the reverse light is really good....I’ll take a short video on my phone tonight to post to show both reverse camera and outside view of how much light it puts out! When you do order do us a favor and use the link (it will track how much it’s used and eventually give out discounts as the link gets used more)
FINALLY I installed the light bar. Looks good, will see tonight how strong the reverse light is. Also, I have used adapter harness instead attaching the wires together and the reverse light I connected to trucks right reverse light. I am hoping the bar will stay glued because there are two bumps between the body. I have not put the bar above the bumps but maybe half way on them and thanks to the bar flexibility I pressed it little more and it’s there just fine......how long?....well we will see haha Would sent you some pics of it, but dunno where 🤷🏼♂️
Ve Po awesome! Yeah I had the same questions about the “bumps” but ours has stayed put for ... almost a year now...so as long as you cleaned the surface well you should be good. I have a 2016 f150. Do I need the adapter since I have a back up camera? Their website says I need one but I’m assuming your truck has a backup camera as well and I didn’t see you use an adapter.
@@rockyaev8287 thanks for the reply. Yeah after more research I’ve seen people with fords saying they needed one, but I also saw that you can hardwire the light bar to each tail light instead of down by the hitch which was causing the trailer connected problem.
@@paynehobbs2740 that makes sense, if you bypass the vehicles plug the light bar doesn’t care ……but I must warn you if you have a warranty, doing this could void it….just be certain on what you tap into 😎
Why is there a one second delay when you brake or turn signal? I notice the lights on the light bar doesn't come on at the same time as the tail lights... hmmmm
I had the same question, so I called the manufacturer and their response was simple…..there is a “decoder” built in and it takes it a second to determine what signal is being sent. I’m not a fan of that….but love how bright and how clean the light looks in comparison to other brands.
@@rockyaev8287 may be the same delay I got from me switch back front signals. But my switch back has a delay to turn back on white, after turn signal is off.
bala 32 thanks for watching, and the comment. So about the delay, I contacted OPT-7 and their team informed me...No....it's because the light bar has to receive the signal, and then determine if it's a blinker, brake, or hazard signal and that takes a second or so to process.....I tried already to get it worked out but no luck lol. However I will say I am ok with a little delay due to the looks, and quality over the other light bars on the market. I have used the Recon brand and it's super bright....but on three different bars I have had several parts of the light quit....and IMO did not look as clean as the opt-7 (because it looks like a solid light from about 8-10 foot away) hope this helps, and if you do buy remember our link in the description 😜😎
Great install! I saw that someone already asked the question but I just wanted to further clarify; the additional module for backup cam, tow assist and some sensor isn't necessary for this setup? Like the truck doesn't "think" you're towing something? Mine is a 2019. Any information is appreciated
Jacob we have had 0 issues with the way we hooked it up. Without digging for the first question on this...I think there was only one vehicle that needed the modules (a ford) because on the ZR2, and my 2018 Ram I did it the same way with no issues. So to the best of my knowledge you won’t need it.
Thanks for the comment, the Bison is really a cool setup we really like it. Yeah the light bar under the tailgate looks great, and is really functional! Check out our latest video we installed a bumper section and another light bar.....next week we show off how well the light works!
I saw someone else asked this. But what did you do about the two little bump outs in the sheet metal under the tailgate? Did you mount directly onto them? Or did you make a spacer so that the light bar sits on a completely flat surface?
What length bar did you install? Also, it looks like the light is delayed compared to the brake light. I mean that the bar doesn't light up the first blink. Is this normal?
On the back panel of the bed where you mounted the light bar there are two bump outs in the sheet metal. One on the right and one on the left. Did you mount the bar above those bump outs? And, does the tailgate obscure it at all?
TheOneRob88 I would have to go double check but I believe it’s directly on them (the light bar is on an aluminum frame and can be slightly formed to the shape). The way I mount them is I hold them in place with a helper and then step back 20-30 feet and see if it is clearly visible if not then adjust accordingly up or down. The first one I did years ago was to high and the tailgate hid most of the light.....learned that lesson haha
Do not mount it above those bumps. I did that, and learn from my mistakes! Fml. Took about 7 hours to slowly get off the lights without damaging the bar. And I ended up messing up the clear coat in a few places
I really wish I could answer that....the only thing I can think of, is built into the light bar there is some kind of a resistor to keep the vehicle from thinking that there is a bulb out.......but this is just a guess, I was wondering that as well. I will contact OPT-7 and ask, that was I can hopefully get a solid answer.
Ok I contacted OPT-7 and this is what they said: The light bar runs off of a 5 wire system, the brake and turn signals run off the same wire (left turn/brake - right turn/brake) so since this is the case the light bar needs a second of either steady power (brake) to sense that it is a brake power source or an intermittent power (turn signal) it then processes the signal and converts it into what is seen. In a perfect world to negate the delay the light bar would need to be wired with 6 wires, one for a dedicated brake, left turn, right turn, running light, Reverse, and ground. Hope this helps.
The light kit I received didn’t come with the “wire taps”. When I looked online, I saw the taps came in different gauges. What gauge of tap should I get to wire into the backup lights??
Glen McCall I used a 14-16 gauge t-tap (blue one) I don’t remember if mine came with one or not to be honest. Sorry I’m not sure, thanks for watching, hope I helped at least a little 😬
