In this video we take a close look at a Beretta 3032 Tomcat chambered in 32 ACP. This gun holds 7+1 rounds and is a fantastic EDC gun for pocket carry. One of the huge advantages of this small pistol is that the slide does not have to be racked to put a round in the chamber due to the pop-up barrel design. This makes this gun a great choice for those that might struggle with having enough strength to rack slides. This Tomcat is a stainless gun (Inox Variant) so it is very resilient to the elements making it a great choice for those that might be carrying in harsh weather conditions.
The pocket holsters shown in this video are made by Desantis and Jackson Leatherworks.
The Carry Ammunition shown is Hornady Critical Defense 60 Grain FTX and the practice Ammo is Remington UMC 71 Grain FMJ.

The Hornady Critical Defense 61 grain FTX rounds are listed at 133 ft-lbs at 1000 ft/sec. Hornady specs the max muzzle energy at 130 ft-lbs, warning that extended use of anything over that could damage the firearm. I checked with Hornady on 9/12/23. On 9/13/23 they replied that because the max muzzle speed is determined from a 4" barrel, Hornady confirmed that from a 25" barrel, the speed would be 900 ft/sec, giving a muzzle energy of 110 ft-lbs, well below the 130 ft-lb recommended max for the 3032 Tomcat. Very effective round and safe to shoot in the Tomcat.
Makes sense. Nice job.
I LOVE the bobcat and tomcat models
I had a Beretta in 25 caliber that I carried in summer when I ran. I got rid of it BECAUSE I found the girth overly cumbersome. I now carry a Colt Mustang 380, which shoots flawlessly (1911-style sliding trigger) and has more punch.
I wish they still manufactured Colt mustangs
I love my Tomcat. (Which I got from Bud's) Its small enough to fit in my pocket, but unlike most pocket pistols-you can actually get a good grip on it. So it is much more accurate than other pocket pistols.
You have the new "wide slide" version? My fathers regretted selling his older 3032 with the thin slide, so he bought a new one, which has the thick slide... and he did not like the thick slide, so we bought a used thin slide to put on it. They started making the slides thicker to stop the frames from cracking with the heavier ammo (i think 72gr)... but the problem is that it didn't work. The frames will still crack with the heavy ammo, so I don't understand why they continue to sell them with the thick slide. It's just too thick... especially because it's unnecessary.
I love my Tomcat, too. Very easy to aim accurately for me. I don't ever use the sights when practicing and don't imagine I'd ever want to if I had to use it for CQC. I just get it pointing where I want the round to go and do just fine at about 15 yards.
The Tomcat and Jetfire are on my list. Love the tip up barrel. I’ve had a Bobcat for 30 years, still runs great.
They are a really cool design. Very simple and reliable. Good little shooters too.
Now is the time to buy. Only $250 at PSA after $150 rebate. I ordered 1 last night.
@@scott2228 thanks for the heads up.
The 21A is a good one too if you prefer double action. The 950 is a good one too though. A lot of people are against single action guns and especially manual safeties... but I don't think they're as bad as most people say. I'd prefer a 3032, but would be happy with a Jetfire if that's what I had.
@@deucedeuce1572 I have a 21A that I bought about 30 years ago and I love it. I want the 950 and 3032 to round out my collection.
Great review, thank you!!!
I've had a Tomcat for years..... bought it used (maybe $200.00 at the time) and it shows a pretty fair amount of wear and tear, scratches, etc, etc,. Never had an operational issue. My old eyes had a problem with the small sights, but solved that accidentally by finding online a laser sight that bolts on the the trigger guard, nice and smooth with no rough edges sticking out. Yes, it is bigger, but I can see exactly where I'm aiming. The new size did not keep me from pocket carry. If you poke around the internet, you'll find other ways to carry this little girl. She's perfect for when my normal carries are just too big. Buy the way.... very nice presentation.
You should be good as long as you don't shoot heavier ammo or +p. I don't know why the heavy ammo cracks the frames, but the slightly lighter ammo never cracks the frames (72gr for heavy ammo and 71gr for lighter ammo). They started putting much thicker slides on them to fix the problem... but the thicker slides didn't fix the problem at all. For some reason though they still produce them with thick slides. I love Underwood Xtreme Defenders and they're 55gr... but I'm not sure if they're safe too shoot in the 3032 though. They're usually hotter than most ammo, but they do sell versions that aren't +p if I'm not mistaken. It's an excellent "barrier blind" self defense round and in my opinion the best self defense round ever created. Their shape makes them not function in all handguns though. You have to buy extra to make sure you test fire enough to guarantee their reliability.
My father bought a new 3032 to replace an older one that he sold, but he didn't like the thick slide at all, so we bought a used (older) thin slide for about $50 for it and he's happy with that. He knows not to shoot the heavy ammo, so hopefully the frame won't ever crack.
I bought for my wife. I love them both. Another great thing about this pistol is that it can be carried cocked and locked.
Cool little gun with many nice features.
I agree. A lot of bang for your buck with this one.
I had one. Was a "stove pipe" nightmare.
Nice to know their manufactured in the USA. It's a great looking handgun. 👌
Great little pocket gun, I love mine have, had it for a year now, I don't shoot it much, ammo is expensive and hard to find.
What a beauty.
Great video love the Beretta! Have a Bobcat!! Wish Beretta would come out with a 380 tipup or a 9 mm like they used to have!!
BTW I hope you don't shoot with your index finger past the distal joint...I sure fire miss no pun intended!!
That's a nice gun.. big enough to pack a wallop
Trigger pull in single or double action is poor but it does function well. I prefer my Keltec P32.
Very nice gun. I have one with no issues. Ruger is missing the boat for sure. They could not fill the supply need if they offered the Ruger max in 32 cal. Like your holsters as well. You shoud try Underwood ammo as well. Thanks!
Looking good. Just ordered the threaded barrel model last night. Great sale and Beretta rebate.
That’s awesome. I’ll be anxious to hear how you like it.
Love it. I put a quick 32 rounds through it. Will shoot it suppressed on my next trip to the range. Will add the Tomcat to my pocket carry rotation. Uses the same pocket holsters as the Ruger LCP II. So that works out well for me.
@@scott2228 That’s great. Glad you like the gun. It is a nice pocket gun. Grab and go.
I bought during the same time. Flash sale at PSA for $399 plus the $150 rebate. I feel like I stole it. I love mine ❤
@@24roughing76nice. I think they were clearing them out to make room for the 30X. Love mine. Love setting it next to my M9A4. Both in FDE.
I had 1 for years never had any issues. I started training and tap and rack came up to clear a malfunction this gun won’t do it. Once I found If this gun malfunctioned your dead I got the Lcp2. In 380 very happy so far
Found a Inox version for 400 so I put it on layaway bought 3 boxes of FMJ Aguila 71 gr. Ammo and a box of Fiocchi 73 Gr. Ammo. And I ordered a Beretta Mag. I saw some TUI ammo in 32. May get that too.
I have the Inox model and really like it. I carry it loaded with Underwood Xtreme Defender ammo; I don't trust any HP ammo to reliably expand in .32acp.
I carry from 22 caliber to 45 caliber. Whatever you carry, learn about and practice the weapon. If you want a very safe gun that is light enough to carry anywhere. You don't ever have to rack it, but it is ready. It is also a double action gun. The unhammered trigger is around 10 pounds. Pulling back the trigger gives us a hair trigger.
It is very accurate for this kind of gun. I use hollow point bullets that are more damaging.
Very well said John. I like the Tomcat for pocket carry in the warmer months.
If they can make that in .380 acp in a double stack, it will be huge competition for the Ruger Lcp Max
I agree. It might also draw in the 1911 people.
Ive had mine for many years.
The only downside in my opinion is its a heavy lil gun.
Eats any ammo you use.
Any suggestion for a safe fmj for the range. I mostly see European rounds that are too hot.
Yes. Try the Magtech 32 ACP 71 Grain FMJ - 50 Rounds. They are only 129 foot pounds leaving the muzzle which is fine for this gun.
You can buy these at: www.wideners.com/handgun/32-auto-ammo
Use coupon code DREW357 for $15 off an order of $200 or more.
Hope this helps.
Beretta never fixed the frame cracking problem. sure they made the slide heavier, but the weak part of the frame is still very susceptible to cracking which is why the ammo restriction still applies. great idea, sub-par execution.
The new Beretta 30X solved the frame cracking problem.
When I save up the money it's gonna be my new best friend 😊
Time to buy is now. After sale and rebate they can be found for $250.
Beretta is all stainless steel, Glock is half plastic, that makes the difference in weight.
It's just criminal that 32 ACP ammo is so costly these days. Otherwise, I would consider purchasing this little gem.
You can buy it from TargetSportsUSA for .43/shot.
i wish someone would bring a pocket pistol like this for the Russian Tokarev TT-33 cartridge, 7.62 x25. a small but powerful Soviet cartridge from the 1930s to 1953.
Is it drop safe? Are you comfortable carrying one in the chamber?
I am comfortable carrying this one in the chamber and the safety on. I have never dropped the gun and don’t plan to.
"summertime carry"? Only in a place like Dog Patch USA can you have different handguns for different seasons. Like micro-brews or gasoline blends
Don’t dry fire it so much. I snapped my firing pin on mine doing that 😅 they suggest using a spent casing or snapcaps.
Hey thanks for the heads up! That’s good advice. I did a few dry fires just for you all making this video so you could see the trigger reset. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Cheers,
Drew357
Will it lock back after last round ?
No. The Beretta Tomcat does not lock back after shooting the last round.
What is the “inox” tomcat?
It means the gun has a stainless steel barrel and slide and the frame is anodized for a similar look.
Aluminum frame
Esta pistola é excelente.Deveris ser fabricada do mesmo tamanho e ou um centímetro maior porém Calibres 38 e 44 e 45 e 10 ou 11 tiros.Só não pode desnucar o cano parte superior.ok
no recoil spring?
I can take it down further but will have to remove the grips to expose the recoil springs. Better in a regular video.
I have one tomcat but too expensive. Can’t compared with other micro handguns.
Tomcat 3032 on sale for $399 @ gunprime right now, plus Beretta has a $150 MIR. SO this is currently $250. 🤓
@@michaelsweaney3890just took advantage of that too
Gunprime has it for 400, and beretta has 150 rebate. Just nabbed me one
Thanks for this note. I had been wanting this pistol but balking on the cost. Got the Covert model at Gunprime for $449, minus the Beretta rebate now of $150 got it for me at $299. Very happy for a pistol that the Beretta site lists for $649. Arrived today. Beautiful pistol - can't wait shoot it.
Is the $400 a current year production???? Their prices are all over the place. How do you like it?
@@TopDogDaddy use gun deals for the best price, some have the rebate included some don’t. Going to the range next week finally, haven’t shot it yet. But it’s a little thick. I find it comfortable for the pocket, I really wanted something with a safety for my first EDC. If you don’t care for that I’d go with the lcp max. If you’re like be this is your best best
@@TopDogDaddy the one I just got as new is a 7/21 manufactured date per Beretta’s website. I was concerned that it might have been made prior to strengthening the slide to eliminate cracking. I contacted them and they confirmed mine is the strengthened slide version. Haven’t shot it yet but it’s a beautiful little pistol.
Congratulations Ron! Let us know how you make out shooting it. The Covert is a beautiful little gun for sure.

CAN IBUY IN MIAMI?
I don’t see why not in FL. CA is the only state I believe they have a special Tomcat to comply with their regulations. Try buying one from Budsgunshop.com or grabagun.com They are both great companies to deal with.
I took delivery of my 3032 two days ago. I'm taking it back tomorrow...for one big reason. It has the worst trigger pull I have ever experienced, both in double action and single action. It simply feels crude and rough and cheap. The same DA/SA on my Bersa Thunder is light years better than the Tomcat. I also have DA only .38 specials and their double action triggers are much smoother. I was looking for a non-polymer non-striker fire pocket pistol. This is not it.
It’s very hard to find little guns like this one that “have it all”. But, for me it’s one that is reliable and easy to carry when I need a little gun instead of no gun. Hope you find something else with a better trigger that you fall in love with.
I couldn't live with the trigger either. Took it apart- an ordeal. And polished all the trigger components with a Dremel and Pflitz. So much better.
@@ronaldisenburg4896 putting the left grip back on 🤪 believe there is a little trick , can't remember exactly , something to do with slide or safety
Cool gun, squeeze not worth the juice.
