Pulling out of a space gives me so much anxiety! I was at a Pilot the other day, hoping the guy next to me would leave first, but he didn’t look like he was in too much of a hurry, so I just went for it. I made it just fine, but boy, was I nervous!
Your videos got me through my first 2 years accident free and now I am in a union company making 100k a year. Thank you. I am particularly interested in your tail swing videos. We go into very tight areas and tail swing when turning sharp is the cause of many accidents here.
One way my trainer taught me was to go straight (assuming your tandem isn’t way back) and start turning when your trailer blinker passes the truck fender of the guy to your side. Better to do the side you can see while turning. So far a year and 1/2 with no accidents. Solo for 1yr 3 months. But I won’t lie, had a few close calls
David, thanks for your work. I’ve been an OTR driver for six years and I still watch your videos a couple of times a week and I play your game regularly. Part of being a pro is getting better every day, you have helped me to this end. Backing is stressful on good days, but some situations double or triple the stress; just knowing how to setup and execute in difficult spots reduces the stress considerably. I still stress out over trailer swing on the blind, but cockiness is not a virtue in trucking.
Thanks for all that. You are very right on everything you say. And there is nothing wrong with worrying about trailer swing, it's once you stop worrying is when you open the possibility of hitting something. Good luck out there!!
David... Thanks for all the advice! Hands down, you've been one of my greatest resources for understanding driving beyond actual practice. I bought your program for PC and the steering wheel you use, and it has been invaluable to my learning process.
I watch your videos even though I'm proficient at driving. And enjoy them...my hardest least favorite parking scenarios are at at rest areas with the slanted parking spots..trucks with ass ends hanging out..i feel like I am setting up wrong.
This training game would help me tremendously. I am limited to going to truck driving school on Saturdays, so that’s my only practice all week. This game would allow me to practice all the time and help me understand trailer movement vs. tractor....
You said that if you turn too late, if you reverse to the right it will create an angle that makes the trailer hit the guy on your right's mirror. I've pulled out before where i barely had room and I had to do that but i made sure to do a little at a time, like one degree. Like I would go forward left a couple feet, back right a couple feet, forward left a couple feet, back right a couple feet, til I was out of the space. I hope I didn't clip the guys mirror without noticing.
The state of California requires all tractor-trailer combinations to meet the King Pin to Rear Axle (KPRA) law. What does that mean to professional drivers? The center of the rear axle on all trailers must be at the 40-foot mark or shorter and must not weigh over 34,000 pounds on the trailer axles.
The TA TRUCK STOP parking in Commerce, GA has pretty much the same limited space. Pulling out was 😧. Had to get help from someone to let me know i clear the trailer swing from hitting the other truck side view mirror on the passenger side.
The game will be called My Trucking Skills, but it is not ready for the public yet, still a few bugs to work out. Make sure you subscribe so you get the notification when it is ready.
Where were you 3 decades ago 🤣 that’s probably when you where born, I am sending all of these links to my younger brother who at the age of 55 decided he wanted to be just like his older brother ( poor bastard ) I noticed you work for a smaller mega-carrier, why not get your own Authority and run independent,
I didn't want the headache. And it might be ready for some people, I just know it wouldn't have worked out for me mentally lol As a local driver with this company, I made a good chunk of change for very little work.

Thank you so much for all your wonderful instruction ! Great channel 👍👏
The best channel of its kind!...
Great videos as always. I’m always learning something new from you. As I’m about to start for new company called Schneider.
Never have I heard you say you hit something till you invented this game!! Lmao!
LOL

😂 Get u some 😂
Very incredible!
Thank you!
40 foot is the golden position for city turning also. I run local in Chicago and always have them at 40 for perfect turns
This is really awesome. Thx for your content!
Dam I’m 20 years old and I’m thinking about trying this

Your first year over the road is your true training ground, just pay attention/take it slow no matter how loud the other drool cups are screaming
It's sad how many drivers do not make it one year due to crappy training
Very helpful videos!

I believe it is 40' from king pin to the center between axles, in California.

I set my axles leaving shipper, or truck stop, whether I need to back or pull out no need for close calls
Thank you
I needed this video! ❤❤

Never be afraid to ask for help, if I know I’m pulling out from a tight spot I will definitely ask for a spotter or just GOAL constantly.
Perfect!
I am subscribed and i can’t wait ! Спасибо брат
I would not leave until one of them moved.
Not if you have an appointment you need to make.
Thanks
40 ft mark is measured from your kingpin to rear axle
Maybe Swift drivers should watch this it should be required by the recruitment department of swift
@mytruckinskills would be great if you build and scenario where you have trucks on docks right in front of you
I will in the game
4 years in and your still teaching me new stuff. What program is that your using?
Great tutorials but why are the tires spinning backwards? Are wer looking from the bottom? Does not make sense to me
Your best bet there is to get the othe trucks towed out of the way.
When can we download this training game
Was wondering also
It's in progress

waiting for this game is like waiting for the second stimulus to pass.
I'm so sorry. I'm paying two developers now.
5:28 David, what happens if you slide the tandems all the way to the 45' line and try to pull forward? 🤔
If you reply this, can you give me a like? It doesn't notify me when someone just reply the comment
❤️❤️❤️
hi, what's the name of this app
Why can you move axles on american trailers? This is not the case in europe
👍👍
I need a video on how to pull through INTO a space, but I can't find any
I will add it to my really long list. 🇺🇸 or 🇬🇧?
@@MyTruckingSkills You're a good man! I'm in GA.

that’s what she said.
Pulling out of rest areas sucks. No space. Gets scarey cause yiu cant see the passenger side where the trailer is swinging
