Rima, please write a book about your life with him. He must have loved you so much.
I think they wanted to keep their privacy. So I don't think that will ever happen. And I think she wouldn't survive writing that. By now I think she has learned to live without Alan. But I think she never will love a man again.

Well in order for them to be together in heaven you have to believe in God and heaven. As far as I can tell, Rima didn't. Whereas Alan was a very spiritual person, although he didn't wear it on his sleeve. He was very close to his paternal grandmother who was a devout catholic. His diary mentions him going with his family his brothers and sister to midnight Mass. He knew what the Angelus was. It's an old Catholic prayer that is said several times a day at certain times and one of those times being at noon and in his diary he says noon the Angelus. There are several pictures of him with crosses crucifixes religious medals. So in order to go to heaven to be with Alan you have to believe in heaven! And also there is no marriage or marrying in heaven. He belongs to us who love him just as much as he belongs to Rima.

I think the fact that they have been together for so long is just beautiful. I like that he has been faithful to her even though he's been around so many beauties in his life, it speaks volumes of his character. That being said, there is just something about him that i'm just drawn to, maybe its because of the way he played Snape. But in a way I don't think its Alan himself but the character of Snape as he portrayed it in the Harry Potter Movies. I think people like a challenge and what more of a challenge than the bad-boy with a heart of gold such as Snape...*sigh*.....

Snowy..rima is an intellectual herself. Phd in chemistry n does a lot of research. I have seen all of his movies and interviews. Snape is as far from his true character one can get. And dont forget his stage work
As I'm American, I haven't seen that much of Rickman's work. I Did get several movies from Netflix - the most recent was called GBCG? About Hilly? Anyway, odd movie. Boy, this man can ACT! He's a Completely Different Person in each thing I see him in. (Sorry, terrible sentence structure, that). Anyway, any movie suggestions you may have that are your favs of his, would be Most Appreciated! I have several more in my Netflix Queue, but don't remember the names.

She's so teeny! :D I think she's so cute and pretty. I just love that they have been together so long. I kind of doubt that he's doing that. You have to believe in God or an afterlife for him to be able to do that, and she doesn't. There's really nothing he can do for her at this point. I'll tell you who he is with .. those that truly love him and defend him, keep his memory and legacy alive. That's who he's with now... that's who he watches over those that believe in am afterlife, and that's who he will be with forever. And there are thousands of us. Totally agreed. I appreciate him for all his work of course, but I appreciate him even more for his personality. I am truly happy for him that he found his other half, as much as I am happy for Rima (I don't know why but she always seems to me as if she is the 'older sister who cares for her little brother' but then as a very close friend. I wish I could have been at least a (close) friend of them, they always seem like fascinating people to me.

He gave up everything to make her happy....what did she do for him?? Actually, the truth is that they never even lived together. He always maintained a separate flat, and when he was negotiating--shortly before his death, to buy a larger house in a swankier area of London, she did not wish to move there because she thought it would diminish her status among her Labour Party followers. She also refused to ever wear the wedding band he had purchased for her when they got married a couple of years ago. How I wish I could've been the woman in his life instead. *Sigh*

No, that's not true. Marriage is till death do us part. Since then Alan has many many more who really truly love him. Who wouldn't make him give up those things he wanted, who most assuredly wouldn't publish his private diaries when he specifically requested them to be destroyed after his death! Do you know how much false and inaccurate assumptions and speculations that book has caused dear Alan... Dear sweet Alan?!? All because the book is so ambiguous just bits and pieces not all connected. Even if it was a great book he wanted his diaries destroyed! Not only did she keep them, she sold them and had them published, she gave up all rights to them! There is a podcast Last Days. Episode 61 it's about Alan Rickman. It's a beautiful tribute to him and at the end it mentions his diaries and how he requested them to be destroyed upon his death and how his own wife, you say loving wife, shamefully and shamelessly published them against his explicit request to destroy them! Not a very loving wife to me. Believe me, Alan knows this now

Yeah I just came across an article that said that they weren't that tight until in the later years..... Probably were just best buds and always hung around while he was romantic on screen and probably off.
That's not true
There were a proper couple since they met at college and stayed together all through the years. It might not have been a conventional relationship but it worked for them.
I'd say you were closer to the truth than most of them. Even Alan says people should have the relationship that works best for them meaning that theirs was not like a normal relationship. I think they were just like you said very close friends but they were apart for many years off and on 10 or 15 years. I think the reason for that is because as Emma Thompson said of her close friend," Alan really isn't into sex ". There's absolutely nothing wrong with that! He just did not have that strongest sex drive he himself even said, "I have never remotely been sexually voracious". And I'm assuming that Rima was the same way and it worked out perfectly they did things together but he didn't have to worry about her being unfaithful and she didn't have to worry about him being unfaithful.. not only because he had a little sex drive, but he had a high moral code and these are all the tested to by those who knew him. So yes I believe you're quite right in your assumption of their relationship but you are wrong if you are implying that he had romance or sex with others because like I explained that didn't happen. There has never been any scandal or rumors anywhere about him having affairs. Didn't happen for all the reasons I mentioned. Anyone who knew him will attest to his faithfulness and moral integrity. They don't call him a gentleman for nothing! Heck, Allen apologize to any actress he had sex scenes with and he never was naked from the waist down when he did sex scenes, never was physically in contact with them. Like I said, like Emma Thompson said and Kate Winslet said he was the best and kindest of men and we shall not see his like again

She did not want kids. Don't let them tell you it was because she couldn't get pregnant or it would have been dangerous for her, no none of that you just didn't want any children otherwise they would have adopted. Alan adored children and wanted three of his own. You never saw the interview where they ask Alan about it? If not it goes like this. Alan says I would have loved to have had a family but you have to realize I'm not in this alone. There's someone else involved. Now that's telling enough but there is one section that is included in some of the interviews where Alan says, "fatherhood was never something I deliberately chose to avoid". And then he makes a comment about he's not in it alone. Well I'm sure he brought that up early in their relationship because he wanted children and if Rima had said no I don't want children and he stayed with her then that means he deliberately chose to avoid fatherhood... But Alan saying that he did not deliberately choose to avoid fatherhood means the decision was made for him. That means that he was under the impression that they would have children one day. She misled him to believe that. If all that isn't enough, she published his private diaries for the world to see, when Alan explicitly said he wanted his diaries destroyed after his death! What a shameless thing to do!

They actually did get married a couple of years before his death. I think he may have considered that it would be easier for her to inherit if she was his wife. That way his family couldn't make trouble. He has four brothers and sisters and goodness knows how many nieces and nephews, who might all want a piece of the pie. When it's a question of money, sometimes ethics go out the window.
