Grey silver hair can be challenging because the hair really needs to be LIGHT (level 9 or 10) before the grey silver hair color will show through 🧙♂️.
In this how to get silver grey hair tutorial, veronica will show you a trick to making your grey color's have more depth and longevity. This trick can also be used to turn lighter silver grey hair to a DARKER SLATE GREY hair color😘.
It's important to tell your client that the final shade of grey will depend on how well their hair lifts 🤓.
A brunette client going blonde doesn't always go blonde in one sitting though❌. Silver grey hair will only show through on a level 9 hair OR level 10 hair.
If you can get your client to a LEVEL 8 at least, you could add in more joico dark pearl to give your client a dark slate grey instead of lighter SILVER GREY hair😎.

wouldn't oxidative hair color "eat" the direct dye? great video btw
Thanks tamuk12able! The direct color behaves more like a color stain, so it still adds to the color formula. If you mixed with a lightener, then yes it would 'eat' the direct dye. Also, the oxidative color is mixed with a 5 volume so it is deposit only with no lift.

Could I mix black semi permanent hair dye with conditioner to make a nice silver colour?
No. You would need a clear semi permanent shade to dilute. You can use conditioner with direct dyes tho
Yes you could definitely! Play with the ratios because the more black you put in the darker the color. You would go from a silver to grey to slate the more you add in. Tag us in it when you do it so we can see it xo
I would always do a patch test first on the hair first to see how it turns out before using it straight on someone's hair. If you are looking for a more bluey silver too you could play with some navy in there 😎
Also watch out for clothes, sheets, towels. Anytime you play with direct dyes you want to be careful with that.

@@GH-ch1qz Clear is a great way to dilute the semi's! It will make it more user friendly for sure, so you are less likely to over deposit black. You can use the conditioner to dilute it too, but you must use with caution. The black color has to be in a very minor amount and definitely has to be mixed really well with the conditioner. Definitely make sure to swatch test to ensure you have the shade you want.
