Happy birthday, man! In the last few years I've started to believe that it would be completely unconscionable for me to let my future kids anywhere near the Internet because of how aggressive and blatant the evil influences within it have become, without any sign of slowing down. Maybe the better option is to be present and give them constant guidance as you suggest. I'm 23 and effectively had unrestricted Internet access from about the age of 11, so I witnessed first hand how damaging it can be to a developing mind in a multitude of ways. It's a miracle I didn't turn out way worse ;)
I'm 27 and I'm impressed you talk about tumblr which for me was my teen years, I came to your channel from your comfy guides and the amount of knoledge some of your generation have is quite impresive, I think part of it is because tutorials in youtube didn't start to grow in quality and quantity until 2017-ish which is still quite recent, also my native language isn't english, and I didn't have a computer until I was 13, but your generation has come at a time where learning things online has become much easier, and would love if more people tried to learn things instead of just dumbscroll all day
Morality comes from God, so that's who we should look to for that. Everything is rooted in the spiritual, especially negative influences on the internet where degeneracy and manipulation is streamlined and monetized. God definitely wasn't my focus at 18 though, I was an atheist (a child of God, oblivious, and in full blown rebellion mode) back then.. but it's always been a spiritual war, the internet just amplifies everything. It's interesting to hear your perspective. I was born in 1983, got my first computer in 1990, and was online daily from '96-00 on dialup, broadband after that, etc., graduated in '01. I had the run of the internet, parents and teachers were ignorant. Our high school's net didn't have a filter when I graduated, I think it came in '03 though. The internet was a different place back then, but it definitely wasn't "safe". I'm 40, but I sound like I'm 80. I guess that's how fast things move these days. lol Sounds like you had a blessed childhood. I am praying that you continue to gather wisdom into adulthood.
same man. I am 21 and I had a identity crisis for 3 years. the day I joined adulthood, every human being I met had different interests than me. when i say i like linux the dude says linux doesnt count its not "pc"
when I was a teenager online (mid 00s), things were dominated by us. sad to hear that this dynamic has shifted entirely. (that's also when I got into Linux, never forget the glory of ubuntu live CDs)
I'm a little younger (17,) I started uploading at age 14. The only things I'd really upload were a video or 2 of my dog. It wasn't until a year or so that I actually started making videos to upload to YT. Now, I'm starting to get a lot more views (like 100k more, really on my compilations of explosive building demolitions I've seen on the internet,) and my channel's really starting to grow, as I've got ~400-500 subscribers as of now.
You just turned 18?! You are absolutely crushing life bro. Big things ahead for you. Cheers.
Only true gamers remember playing Super Mario 63 in elementary school
