    This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E Gt Performance SUV. The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition in Cyber Orange This is the extended range model with a 91 kWh battery and e-AWD. It has 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque with 418 km/260 miles of EV range. It goes 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. TheFord Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition features a carbonized grey grille with an illuminated pony badge, GT badging, 19” front brakes with red painted Brembo calipers, e-latch doors, a black painted roof and 20” wheels. It also features a hands-free foot activated power liftgate, pony projection lamps and black painted side-view mirror caps. This model pushes the boundaries of what an electric vehicle offers performance wise giving you an exciting experience behind the wheel with the Magneride damping system and adaptive suspension for improved handling and performance. The Mach-E GT is engineered to deliver exceptional torque, grip and handling, it certainly doesn’t disappoint.The Mach-E GT comes standard with a 15.5” touchscreen with Sync 4A which is intuitive to use, a 10.2” digital driver display, 10-speaker B&O sound system, wireless charger, a heated steering wheel, driver seat memory, power folding mirrors and 8-way power front heated sports seats with ActiveX grey upholstery. These seats are extremely comfortable; they cradle your body and offer excellent thigh support for those long trips. There are two features the Mach-E is missing, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, they are not available on any trim. BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free driving offering is available in the Ford Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 package for $2,545 CAD. The package also includes, active park assist and a 360-degree camera with split view and front washer. When you add this package in Canada, the panoramic sunroof is automatically added for an extra $1,895 CAD. Unfortunately, I am not able to access the specs/trims on the US website, due to high demand, the 2022 Mach-E is sold out for and Ford is no longer taking orders. Limited orders may be available at select dealerships.The 2022 Mach-E GT Performance Edition starts at $83,495 CAD/$61,995 USD.
    Price as tested: $88,685 CAD

    The door mechanism was tested in northern Canada in the middle of winter and they purposely let the car get frozen and the doors still opened because there is a shaft that pushes the door our and does not allow a person to close the door on their fingers after it is pushed out. Ford rated the doors down to -40F.

    What I think blows is that the federal rebate is only for all-electric cars and trucks which means you have to own a single-family home and be able to afford to purchase these expensive vehicles, and those are the last people that need a tax break. What about the people who are renting and living in apartments? Why don't they extend this to hybrids?

  • @dearbulls
    @dearbulls 2 года назад +1

    Zach's ranting is all legit. Yes, the federal rebate, or the "tax credit" in the US, is totally skewing the price. The manufacturer would just raise their EV price to eat up whatever government offered. However, same as Zach, I was unhappy that the US government is taking my tax money to give 7500 to the EV buyers, when I cannot even owe the government 7500 each year to earn all of them back. We went with the ID4, because VW is the only one willing to work that 7500 credit into their lease offers. And with the lease-to-buy option, we are getting about 5500 back, still more than what I can owe the government.

    I absolutely agree with Zack on the rebate and commercial EV rant. And this Mach-e is kinda cool. But pricey! And… by default isn’t the Mach-e a car? A Ford Mustang is a “car”… so shouldn’t the rebate be capped/defined as such? Meaning that it, being a ‘Mustang’, it should ‘car’ rebates should be applicable, not SUV caps. That aside, it is still a cool EV, perhaps one of the coolest. Thanks for the video.

  • @BuellXB12SDucati1198
    @BuellXB12SDucati1198 Год назад

    I would say no to the GT as it's only 5 seconds of power boost. The battery pack will overheat if not reduced. A standard model Y can outrun the Mock-E GT once the 5 seconds limit kicks in. It's not worth the extra $10,000 for a better suspension and seats. The Mock-E Premium is the best value for your hard earned cash. Battery heat management is a problem in high temperature climate areas. In the northern areas with colder climates, the Mock-E suffers power drain from no heatpump and running heaters. Still, I really like the Mock-E. I'm leaning towards the extra range all wheel drive battery pack. I will probably replace the wheels and tires within a few days. Also, the insurance should be cheaper than the GT model. Just my non ownership opinion. Now that the price has dropped, I'm leaning towards ordering one in all black. In the future, should Ford add a heatpump, then I would trade up. I really don't want a Tesla as they are becoming so popular that they are not anything special. I do like Tesla's design, but I prefer the Mock-E style.

    Zach's comment "who needs this much power" is spot on. Autoline just did a AAH show on BEVs, and they had the same comment. They even postulated that putting too much unexpected performance in certain BEVs will surprise unprepared owners and possibly lead to "boo-boos".

    • @jamesshort5682
      @jamesshort5682 2 года назад

      I agree. I know Tesla wanted to make a name for itself by proving its cars could be more powerful that an ICE vehicle. So what? Where can you actually drive these things and enjoy the power? In my opinion too many car companies are spending too much time cloning Tesla. A $40K Mach-E with decent power and range will result in much more market share that $90K cars with goofy interiors and iPads glued to the dash.

    • @lvlionsfan5492
      @lvlionsfan5492 2 года назад

      I disagree. The same can be said about ICE vehicles. Why limit the capability of a vehicle because some people who may be unprepared? You don't have to stomp on the throttle when you're driving. I have the Mach-E GT and I enjoy the performance in the city as well as highway driving.

    Zach sounds like he's doing his best Doug Ford impression on this rebate lol! I agree, in principal, but assuming that someone who can afford a $70k car is rich might not be fair. We all know how a $70k car is really nothing more than a $550 monthly payment, over 80 months with a down payment. I think we should incent people to go electric. Perhaps the rebate is not the best way to go about it, but I think criticizing policy is the easy part...presenting a viable option is where things get tough ;).

    • @jcsdesign

      I hope you were being sarcastic about 80 month payments. Who finances a car for that long? The problem I have with the rebate from the Canadian government is that it is only $5K Cad when the US is getting $7.5k USD for the same vehicle.

    • @dannyfisher8382
      @dannyfisher8382 2 года назад

      @@jcsdesign I was being semi sarcastic about that. You think people are financing cars for 24 or 36 months these days? They want more car than they should be driving (not dissimilar to what's happened in the housing market) so they'll finance over a ridiculous term to keep their monthly payments low.
      I agree re: the rebate. Unfortunately, here in Ontario our Premier disagrees with any rebate incentive at all. He thinks only fat cats drive electric cars while he's chauffeured around all day in his Chevy Suburban.

    That's a cool car...it is. Many practical features and good looks.
    How's Mr S at 'getting these kids off the lawn'?
    ...if only I could tell how he felt about those rebates.

    4:00 isn't it ironic that you talked about potholes and the vehicle had a "tabarnak" plate :P

    Zach, gets it: the government shouldn't be giving incentives. It DOES skew the market. Keep ranting, Zach.

    The rebates are essentially funds shifted from O&G companies to EV adopters to accelerate the inevitable shift. If we didn't do it, the US would get ALL the shipping EVs destined for North America as they get up to US$15,000. Also, many (most?) western nations offer similar incentives.

      The US being one of the largest CO2 emitters needs EVs, along with China, India, and Russia. The Canadian government shouldn’t be so concerned yet. And this point they’re just giving our money to the wealthy. Eventually there will be enough supply that automakers will send them our way.

      @@marclangman4836 Canadian consumers are ordering EVs by the literal boatload. I'd rather be ahead of the curve rather than wait for some "eventually" as you suggest. Quick, quiet, zero tailpipe emissions, and no line ups to refuel as 90+% of recharging can happen overnight at home.
