Ultimate X-Men has been a blast and I love that it centralizes mature themes like suicide and domestic violence without being crass or loaded with blood or profanity. I also love how NEW it is.
I guess I get why some who wanted a more straightforward retelling of 616 X-Men like the first Ultimate X-Men run but I'm surprised there have been so many complaints about the run. I can't wait to see how it eventually ties into the rest of the new Ultimate universe
Yeah, for some reason, they hate the change, but those are the same people complaining about how x-men needs. To shake up with new ideas on the x-men 🙄
I would understand the hating of the UU X-men if the 616 X-men titles were no longer available.
But, if someone likes the multitude of 616 X-men comics that are out, they can still enjoy them.
I find 616 X-men convoluted, over burdened with continuity, and boring.
For people like me, it is so great to finally have an enjoyable X-men comic.

Nonvegans are so easily triggered! They find out by asking me...then they immediately fly into a defensive raging rant to let me know that they are 1) not doing anything wrong 2) veganism actually is unhealthy and doesn't help the animals, and 3) I'm not morally better than them.

I really like Ultimate X-men too, it's a slow burn, but I love the character development and atmosphere.

I only buy the Peach Momoko X-men books where she illustrates and writes. I like how she brings new life to the characters and the Japanese horror-ish themes she adds. Station!

When Poison Ivy crossed the 20 issue mark, I started checking it out. I had written it off at first as a lesser series. It is not. It’s the best thing DC have.

I also just covered Ginseng Roots by Craig Thompson on my channel and it's unbelievable how it has raised the bar of how good comics can be. Highest possible recommendation for this 12 issue series.
Completely agree on your comparison with Scarlet Witch and Poison Ivy. Marvel had Wolverine hit 50, which is going back to new #1. How many ongoing series does Marvel have past 50 issues, heck 20 issues? DC has Action and Detective still going on over 1000 issues. As a long-time comics fan, it was a big deal when an ongoing hit 100 issues. When was the last time a Marvel ongoing hit 100 issues?

I have accepted the starting over with a new issue 1 when a creative team finishes their run. So in those cases the #1 signifies a new story is starting.
But Scarlett Witch has been one story. Im liking it, but i wish they'd quit restarting the numbers.

Dan Buckley had stated that Marvel are committing to greenlighting new series' to a minimum of 8 issues. That should be seen in the coming months as current books have been in the can for a while.
I picked up precious metal #1 because of your review, what a great book! That art and story were fantastic!
All the stop/starts from Marvel really bother me too. It's the main reason I've gravitated more to indie books instead.

Ultimate X-Men is cool. I'm going to drop it, but I'm dropping all of the Ultimate books. I'll read them once collected. I think they play out better that way.
That's cool it's slow burn due to hickman on the helm of the ultimate lineup, so it makes sense for all the titles to be better through tpb to get the full scope of the stories.

Dropped Ultimate x men and Napalm after issue 1. If I wanted to read manga i would pick up a junji ito not x men😂. Napalm was just boring! EU is the best thing I m buying now. That and Conan rule! I did like Moon Knight and Ghost rider from marvel before the #1 reboot but they have been losing me. Now its just Ultimate spidey n black panther and Ultimates. From DC Godzilla vs JL has been fun but its over, I m loving all the Superman and action stuff! Brianac War is great! Batman n Detective are a bit dull... i m sticking with Nightwing and Titans

The UU is SUPPOSED to be different.
If someone wants regular X-men, there are MULTIPLE titles they can read.
I would hate any of the UU comics to be the same as 616.
@langreeves6419 Exactly, it's just old x-men fans are the ones complaining and can't accept the new change with the book. Plus, I think they're waiting for "from the ashes" era of x-men to come out but. Regardless they need to go back reread all the old x-men books to get there traditional x-men fixed or something. Instead of constantly spew out the same complaints about "this not x-men" crap.

Peach Momoko's writing is terrific. But, I'm not sure that X-Men is the right book for her. We've been focusing on Armour's origins for the past 4 issues now and it's been going on a snail's pace now. This is supposed to be a team book, not an individual's book. If you had Ulitmate Armour instead of Ultimate X-Men, then I wouldn't argue so much.
I disagree through issues 2 and 3, which was an introduction and backstory focus for maystorm, and also, we are getting mystery to who the shadow guy is and why he is targeting armor.
Teams are comprised of individuals
I hate group books that throw a ton of info about several people.
Those books feel like text books for school.
I like character development.
If you want a zillion characters with convoluted plots, read the 616 X-men.
Ultimate Universe is supposed to be different. So far, it has been more character driven than the 616, and I'm here for it.

I get that it is a different artist but why has the art changed so significantly?
Before it was not great. Very childish and simple. Now, the artwork is sculpted, the colours are better. It jist looks like more money is being thrown into it.

There are plenty of xmen books in the 616 universe.
All those books are convoluted and require a lot of reading of hundreds of back issues....
If you enjoy those, enjoy them.
But why demand that they stop making the one title for those who find the 616 xmen titles boring?
I'm not calling for them to stop the multiple crappy xmen books.
