Gil is a wonderful human being. I went to school with him and although we didn't get overly personal, we were around each other quite a bit over the years. He was ALWAYS in good spirits and always played outstanding. Once at Tanglewood he happened to be walking on the grounds during the afternoon before a concert. He was with some arrogant folks from our former school who wanted nothing to do with me. He made it a point to walk away from them and shake my hand. Other human beings should strive to be like him. He's the real deal!
Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Amazing. I've seen Gil Shaham giving a Master Class on this little, sweet piece. How he explained every single syllable, every note, every extenuation, and every single emotion related to Mozart's last, and most complete, violin piece. Now, the Master himself plays the piece - and you can finally understand everything he said. Just a masterful performance. Bravo maestro!
The thing about Gil is his innate artistic inquisitiveness. You can tell by listening that each time he performs, he is trying to gain insight into the conditions of that particular performance and is trying to bring out the musical phrases in the best possible way to make the music satisfying, pleasing, exciting and entertaining. What a great artist. I’m 64 and I want to play like him when I grow up. LOL

Yes, Shahan is a sublime musician, and here he has sublime backing by the SWR orchestra. A perfect way to render Mozart! Thank you, ladies and gentlemen all!!
Thank you so much for your nice comment!
Gil displayed complete mastery of his violin. Every move seems to be delivered with great precision and well-controlled. His notes are always sweet to the ear, touching your soul.
This is so incredible. Gil Shaham is, to me, the best violinist on the planet right now. He makes every note and every phrase unbelievably beautiful. And he just keeps getting better with each passing year.
same
🙋♂️agreeeee
You are so right. Best around and the equal of any of the greats of the past. What he has that Heifetz didn't ( or didn't show) was a sense of fun and wonder in the music and his amazement and joy in his own playing. He surprises himself sometimes. Something beautifully child- like about him. He's a sweetheart!
@@jefolson6989 right! Not only is he incredibly talented, he’s also very wholesome.
Unfortunately we have zukerman to take that title
I absolutely love that he uses the Joachim cadenzas throughout the entire piece. Lovely to see someone with respect and deference to tradition, technique, and taste. Also, the Joachim cadenzas are beautiful.
He plays with such clarity!
If only every orchestra large and small played this well in tune! Sublime.
That Strad is very lucky to have Shaham at the helm...! It will age nicely and continue to grow its sound palette. It's common knowledge to luthiers that if a great violin is played badly over many years then it will become a dull wooden box (and take years to correct, to get back up to performance standard). Shaham is doing the opposite and keeping the violin very much alive. I love his playing style. Very noble.
What the? LOL
Wow. Gil Shaham is really, really good. Thanks for this Mr. Shaham. I'm sure that even Wolfgang Amadeus himself would be proud of your performance.
Wow, thank you so much! 🥰
He loiks stressed, but it is only concentration.Just listen to him! Delicious
I love his playing!
3:46 Gil Shaham: My bow ain't tight enough.
🎻 15:18 🎻
Ha, ha, ha. Tighter... impossible. But who cares? He sounds beautiful.
@@Alejandroramirez-lw6emit's not easy to play tight bow 😇
Very non-pretentious. Such great rich sound in his articulations, especially the 16th notes, which isn't always the case with musicians, singers, whatever kind. And a lack of preening too!
Excellente interprétation. Énergie et musicalité combinées.Bravo !

💐 Good Performance 💐 Enjoying From Mozart : 00:41 - 03:45 - 15:18 - 16:03 - 16:37 🎻🎶
Freely paraphrasing Freiherr von Eichendorf's locus classicus "quod possit Jovi, no intelligit bovi", within the limitations of my understanding, I none the less am very grateful to Gil Shaham and the SWR symphony orchestra, under the baton of Nicholas McGegan, for sharing this exhilerating interpretation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's fifth violin concerto.
Fe errata "quot dixit Iupiter non intelegit bovis".
what is this for a beautiful violine ? so clear
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻beautiful!!!
Una interpretazione molto accattivante
Good.
Namastê Magníficos ⭐gratidão, Thanks,🌺🎶 merci, 🌺🎶Grazie🌺🎶🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼😍🌻14:15......🎶🎶🎶🌺🌼
Magical beat pause at 2:59.
YEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
The sound 2:45 differ from the picture, what would it mean?
Such a master of his craft.
Entschuldigung wie geil
2:19 ! On his face I see the music!
Shaham likes to wind his bow quite tight.
how much does he be paid?
That is unimportant. 🙄
My god that tie is too much!
Bl00dy woodwind sharp of the open A right form the start ...
19:06
I hate to say this but I saw an earlier video with him and Issac Stern playing the double violin concerto and I thought Shaham was a bit better than Stern. Maybe Mr Stern in his wisdom just allowed Shaham to shine.
😊 lovely comment.
non potest argui per gustum
So tights! The sound is really not flowing
Very underwhelming.. I really dislike his interpretation here.
De beste stuurlui staan an wal.
MCMeru who care about? :)
well your majesty --i guess you play it better...probably you like Mozart bombastic and syrupy...
@MCMeru Why?
MCMeru Yes it’s just a bizarre and mannered performance......
